Yvng Jalapeño recently stated that two years ago, he had entered a remix competition for QUIX, and that his persistence and dedication has now earned him an official remix for the legendary producer. When asked about this progression, the Aussie states, “I’ve always had a mindset that if you stick with something & put in the hours it’s impossible to fail. I’m really happy with where I am at the moment but I’m only just getting started.”

The original ‘Ride Or Die’ is a plushy, luscious ballad perfect for midsummer listening. Yvng Jalapeño’s remix is the opposite, meant to be heard in the darkness of the night, when the obscurities and shadows take over. “I really like flipping pretty sounding tracks on their head and turning them to the dark side,” he explains. Doing exactly that, Yvng Jalapeño stays true to the original with Reigan’s calming vocals, but fast-paced percussion and orchestral effects hint at the gloom that follows. A crescendo of sirens and added percussion lead the track into trap insanity, where cackling synths, mechanical stabs and wonky bass shine at the forefront. Repeating this theme twice but in two unique sections, Yvng Jalapeño continues to establish himself as one of the greats with his flip of ‘Ride Or Die’.

Kaivon‘s sound design demonstrates almost unfathomable attention to detail and powerful, emotion-filled synths that wash over you completely. His latest single, and debut release on Dim Mak Records discovery imprint, titled ‘77‘ features sublime vocals courtesy of Kini Solana and a crushing palette of synths that hold true to Kaivon’s emotion-fueled style.

A tame wind chime leads into an affectionate vocal lead, setting a hopeful stage for a simple piano melody and tender clapping rhythm. As a low pattern of grandiose horns joins the chorus, the vocals fade out into a quick, high-energy buildup before returning seamlessly into the drop. An assortment of Kaivon’s coveted rich synths engulf you as a hopeful siren beckons in the distance. Perfectly timed breaks provide just enough contrast within the drop, while a pounding bass drum maintains a steady flow of energy. The vocals return, accompanied by an upbeat melody of keys, which transforms into the familiar rhythm of low horns leading into the second drop. Holding nothing back, the full force of the synths erupts at the second drop, beautifully coupling emotion and staggering energy.

There is not a shred of doubt in my mind that Kaivon will be a household name in the EDM scene in the coming years, his vision to express his innermost struggles in a positive and uplifting way through his music is something that I truly haven’t seen before.
