The Boost Gang is back with the third installment of their Boost Tape series. We described the first edition as the pinnacle of trap and characterized the second as top tier. To say the bar has been set rather high would be an understatement but I am happy to report that they have once again delivered. The latest edition features another star-studded lineup that includes DJ Ride, GANZ, JWLS, Losco x golden child, Floret Loret, anti., episcool, Jon1st, Rohaan, Luminox, So Sus, HUCCI, and more! With over 20 tracks there’s simply too much heat to dive into detail on every track but we’ve opted to highlight some of our favourites.

anti. is one of the most underrated producers in trap right now and ‘FLEX’ serves as another reminder he’s next up. The track perfectly balances OG trap tendencies with a heavier bass vibe for a certified banger. ‘SAFEWITHME’ jumped out among the first section with the track proving to be one of Farrah most impressive releases to date. The bounce is immaculate, mixing booming low end with futuristic and mean club energy.

Anytime HUCCI drops it’s a treat and ‘Low Charge 6000’ is no exception. When it comes to making moody trap beats, there’s still no one better.

If you’re looking for some DnB the tape also has you covered. Jon1st’s ‘Step Up’ takes iconic rap vocals and creates a menacing off-kilter bruiser. Drawing on a similar dark energy, Rohaan unveils the monster that is ‘Sabertooth.’ This one takes you down dark alleys and into questionable dank basements for a raw rave aesthetic.

FUXWITHIT favourites Losco & golden child team up for the trap banger you’d expect from the two. The track finds that perfect balance between cartooney fun and brutish street sound. Another FUXWITHIT mainstay So Sus amazes with ‘Whale Song’ a track that draws from nature to create an epic sonic journey.

Anytime I explore a compilation I am hoping to find at least one or two new artists that truly wow me. So Durand and WERK checked that box with two of the most impressive offerings on the project. So Durand’s ‘Do2me (feat. Sacha Foster)’ is nothing short of an anthem. The emotive and catchy vocals lock listeners in while drops absolutely bang. Meanwhile, on ‘GEDDIT’ WERK bring a TNGHT-inspired sound that is nothing short of masterful. Warning: you may want to sell your soul to the devil just to ‘GEDDIT.’

TL;DR: Boost Tape 03 is one of the hardest compilations of the year to no one’s surprise. Listen below and grab it on Bandcamp. All proceeds go to MusiCares.

Following the initiative of Vlad Yaremchuk and Rhys Bainham, two promoters based in Ukraine, the bass and drum&bass community have come together to show unity, solidarity, support, and a common response to the current, dramatic situation in the country. Responding to the call to participate in Together With Ukraine were more than one hundred international artists, who contributed with exclusive unreleased music to what has become the biggest compilation I’ve ever seen. Together With Ukraine is available to purchase on Bandcamp for a minimum price of £12 and all the revenue generated will be donated directly to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.

In the tracklist, drum&bass is predominant, but among the 136 tracks there is a varied representation of the wide spectrum of bass music (there’s even a touch of wave courtesy of Deadcrow). There is no shortage of well-known FUXWITHIT favorites such as Noisia, Dj Ride, Rohaan, gyrofield, IMANU, yunis, and some personal favorites of the undersigned like Balatron, latesleeper, Monrroe, Bop, and basically all the Hospital Record affiliated artists.

Sadly, this time the music is not the focus of the discussion, but only a means to convey a much more important message in support of Ukraine. For this reason, we leave room for those who are experiencing the situation and experiencing its effects firsthand. Below you can find the official statement published by the organizers.

With every day that passes, the high-scale humanitarian crisis and assault on the people of Ukraine continues to worsen. Civilian deaths are increasing on a daily basis across the country with no sign of stopping, with millions of citizens already forced out of their homes in search of refuge. As we wake up to yet another day of war, hundreds more innocent lives have been lost and destroyed overnight. We cannot leave this unchecked, and we need to act on this now without hesitation. Now more than ever is a time for unity, solidarity and support of a nation under attack. It’s crucial for us to use our voice to create widespread and sustained awareness of the situation on the ground in Ukraine, and to give support in every way possible. Whether it’s signing petitions, attending demonstrations, sharing facts on social media, offering help for refugees, or more – this situation cannot be allowed to continue, and engaging in support of any kind for the people of Ukraine is our absolute priority.

You can listen and purchase Together With Ukrain on Bandcamp here (the donations received so far amount to over £54,000). Alongside the exclusive tracks, there’re also over 30 pieces of bespoke visual art, with art direction by Uno.

Today is a very special day for the Sable Valley family. Taking us back in time, their debut compilation, Sable Valley Summer Vol. 1 changed the way you looked at electronic music. It took every breath out of your body with each given moment. Incredible artists, banging beats, and more. The album skyrocketed not only the label, but its artists as well. So today, they’re initiating stage two in their master plan to push the electronic music scene towards greater territories.

Sable Valley Summer Vol. 2 is a highly impressive and sophisticated crafted body of work. Each track holding their own spirit and vision for this movement. And what better way to increase the journey than by gathering some of the most unique musicians within the scene to participate. Veterans such as RL Grime & Montell2099, Cozway, Rossy, capshun, and others have returned to leave yet another mark of madness on their diverse audience. But we also notice brand new faces! Heavy up and comers CAB, Rohaan, Lizdek and much more have also been chosen to take on the challenge and help build a better tomorrow for the label and their own visions! So strap in those seatbelts, because if you thought you weren’t ready for the first installment, you have another thing coming with this nuclear explosion for evolution.

Sable Valley Summer Vol. 2 contains some of the most forward-driven art you’ll ever experience within this industry. Bringing out every artist’s special and highly charismatic characteristics to the max and beyond. From futuristic atmospheres, mind-bending sound design, and more, each piece is an unforgettable journey. Purely crafted from angel tears and cybernetic upgrades. The artists put in their all to help create yet another perfect album of gems. You’ll have your heart dropped while still trying to take everything in. But that’s what the replay button is for!

After this, you’ll go back over and over again to catch every little detail missed because there is a ton and then some. Bravo to the artists and of course Sable Valley who made all of this possible. We’re stoked to hear what’s next in this never-ending journey. So make sure to go support everyone by streaming Sable Valley Summer Vol. 2 everywhere!

If you are familiar with FUXWITHIT then you are familiar with DJ Ride. For those of you who aren’t, his latest Lightspeed LP will show you exactly who he is. Hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, Oliveiros Tomás Oliveira is an award-winning scratch DJ and an exceptional producer who is consistently looking to push the envelope as an artist. Lightspeed is jam packed with nine marvelous tracks, containing collaborations on each one except the intro and one other song. As a part of these collaborations we get to experience a culmination of family as DJ Ride works with his brother Holly and fellow Beatbombers member, Stereossauro. The three team up on the title track for this LP, which happens to be my favorite of the entire project as it provides a feeling of hope while also encouraging growth and change. Another standout track would have to be the collab with L*O*J as they are climbing their way through the ranks of the underground, it is a huge look for them to be featured on this creation. Put on your best pair of headphones or plug in your best set of speakers as this needs to be experienced in high quality and as loudly as you can handle it. DJ Ride’s Lightspeed is out now via DOMEOFDOOM and we were grateful enough to catch up with the champion himself for an interview that can be read below.

Hey Oliveiros, more than two years ago you provided us with Guest Mix: 016, we appreciate you taking the time to catch up with us once again. Can you give us some insight on how Lightspeed came together?

Hi! I still love that Guest mix ! Lightspeed started a while ago when I sent some random demos to Wylie / DOMEOFDOOM. We started talking about making a LP and then it was the usual process of thinking about a narrative that tries to glue everything together. Most of the beats from that first batch were solo tracks but then it kinda became a record full of collabs with friends from all over the world.

music is therapy and an escape of reality and it’s helping me a lot in these weird times.

With most of the LP being recorded in your home studio in Lisbon, how did you go about choosing and connecting with the included collaborators? Talk to us about the difficulties you faced due to the pandemic with these collabs and not being able to meet in person for studio time.

The process was like free jazz, some of the collaborators I’ve known for years, others are really recent collabs that started with a message on Instagram or Soundcloud. With the second track for example, Stereossauro had that first arp loop and drums that I really liked, I did the drop and Holly did the final part. with Subp Yao we have maybe 4 or 5 tracks together and ‘Gotta Act’ was perfect for the mood of this record. I didn’t face any difficulty because we already worked through the internet sending stems and ideas back and forth. Of course it’s really bad what’s going on, I don’t have any gigs for 8 months, but in other hand I’m channeling all my energy and free time to the studio, trying to still get focus, music is therapy and an escape of reality and it’s helping me a lot in these weird times.

In our last interview you stated, “For a while I only produced hip-hop beats.” Do you still find yourself making hip-hop beats today?

Yes I still produce a lot of hip hop beats, I did a beat tape some months ago. I also produce for some rappers here in Portugal, it’s something I will do forever.

You started listening to hip-hop at the age of 12 and have dedicated over 10 years to DJ battles. It seems as though music takes up a large portion of your life. What are some other hobbies you enjoy?

Yes it’s been a wild journey for sure, one of my biggest hobbies is riding my bike, downhill/dirt jumping. That’s where my DJ name came from. I also like to read books, films, collect records and traveling.

Reading up on another interview you had, I saw you mentioned that “a scratch routine takes 5 months to prepare,” and how stressful it can be. With the pandemic putting a pause on tours, what are the possibilities of us getting a new DJ Ride routine?

Yes scratch routines are really difficult to pull off, if it’s for a dj battle it’s definitely stressful. If it’s for a video or showcase it’s more relaxed but it takes time! Actually, I was doing something for DMC online this year but because I’m busy at the studio finishing tracks I’ll enter maybe next year. I did also a video for Serato, for the new ”From the Crib” series, it’s just a minute video but its cool.

When was the last time you battled? Do you plan on competing more? Why or why not?

The last time was 2019 in Red Bull 3style TAIWAN, it was an incredible experience (I was also in 3style Japan back in 2015) but that competition music wise is very different from what I’m doing/exploring now. I prefer DMC or IDA where you can be more experimental and technical. And yeah I still want to battle in the future :)

Zero competition (maybe if he scratched we would battle haha), but of course we support each other since our first beats, and he’s a big inspiration and my best friend.

Your brother (Holly) is also an exceptionally talented producer and DJ. Do you compete with each other at all? Does he inspire or motivate you in any ways?

Zero competition (maybe if he scratched we would battle haha), but of course we support each other since our first beats, and he’s a big inspiration and my best friend.

Lightspeed touches a variety of genres and it feels like you really let your creative freedom take over in its fullest form. What was your favorite track to work on and why?

I don’t have a favourite but I can’t wait to play the one with Dead End, or with Subp Yao in a club with a LOUD sound system.

With the release of this LP, you are also releasing a limited run of 100 cassette tapes. What led you to releasing in this form?

DOMEOFDOOM usually does that limited cassette tapes and I think it’s a lovely format. I already have a scratch vinyl, CD’s and EP’s, it’s the first time I’m gonna have my music on a cassette tape!

What can we expect for the future of DJ Ride?

I’ve been also working on another project and a couple of collabs coming up, so yeah stay tuned for my next chapter!

It’s always a pleasure to see a producer grow while maintaining their artistic integrity to the fullest. Arguably nobody does that better than Massachusetts’s own, Shöckface. Over the past few years, the innovative young production wizard has developed a discography that truly showcases his versatility as a producer within the electronic music space. With a foundation built on world-class sound design, Shöckface consistently paints a glorious soundscape with each release and never seems to fit within the confines of one particular genre. This time, the young beat wizard teams up with long-time FUX favorite and a true legend within the scene, DJ Ride, on the first anniversary of their huge collab ‘3001’ to give us a proper VIP in celebration of this classic release.

Right off the bat, this track makes you feel as if you have just woken up in an unfamiliar soundscape. Full of eerie risers, glitchy snares, and other off-the-wall percussion elements, the intro and build perfectly encapsulate the theme of this other-worldly track. All of these elements finally converge at the climax of the build, before we’re dropped into the gritty drop section full of aggressive basses, while still maintaining that groove and flow. These basses are combined with these spastic melodies that periodically peek through the mix, which gives this track that little cherry on top of this extraterrestrial sunday. We caught up with Shöckface and ask what the inspiration behind this VIP was, to which he said “3001 VIP was actually how 3001 was originally sounding. I ended up taking out certain sounds and cleaned up the project until I was happy with the record.”

With all of this said, there’s no question we’re excited to see what’s next for Shöckface and so should you. We inquired on what’s next for the project, to which he responded, “I’m working on so much new music right now that I can’t wait to share with the world. You may get word of a special project near the end of the year.” Make sure to stay updated with all things Shöckface and DJ Ride right here at FUXWITHIT and grab that free download while you’re at it!

From your initial introduction into this dastardly piece, you’ll get the unmistakable feeling of being a cybernetic badass in a society much more advanced from our own. The downpours of bass are the soundtrack to your adventure, one with immense amounts of twists and turns, all unfolding right in your ears. The little intricacies of this piece really pull it together, with exceptional layering that makes it exceedingly difficult to really focus in on any one particular sound, a nod to the immaculate mastering of this work. The first drop is a saucy west coast bass weapon, while the second is much more trap-centered. With the entirety of the piece being a well-thought-out escapade into the inner reaches of your mind, who knows where your consciousness will float off too while under its influences. Make sure to get a full dose of ‘Realness’ below!

At the very beginning of this crazy year, two titans in their respective corners of bass music joined forces to give us the Berry Patch EP, a collection of eclectic DnB records full of fresh and exciting sounds and rhythms. The two titans in question are of course Holly, the seasoned beat-prodigy hailing from Portugal, and the drum and bass legend himself, Machinedrum. The later is no stranger to collaboration projects, as 2019 marked a massive year for his J.E.T.S. project with Jimmy Edgar. After another successful collaboration project with Holly, the two have blessed us yet again with a collection of remixes from some of their peers with the Berry Patch: Blended EP.

To start we have Halogenix’s rendition of the hectic DnB record ‘Berry Patch,’ which begins with the familiar melody and vocal sample from the original while incorporating these huge sweeping synths in the build-up. When we reach the drop, those abrasive synths are completely stripped back to reveal pulsating subs that carry the grove between these spazzy high-pitched tones in the breaks.

Moving on we have IMANU’s glitchy take on ‘Berry Patch,’ which is full of these glitchy and majestic high-end tones combined with these deep trembling subs in the build-up. When the tension his finally released in the drop, all these elements are joined by the original vocal sample, but only this time its infinitely looped, giving this track a hypnotic field to it.

Next up, Two FUX favorites take center stage with Craze and DJ Ride’s take on ‘Yangmei.’ The track starts on the melodic side, with a liquid inspired intro and build-up before the energy is quickly turned all the way up. After a relaxed build-up, the drop offers a welcome contrast, with its gritty synths and stripped Jump-up influenced drum pattern. The two even bless up with some deep wubs on the last drop, which offers a hip-hop-influenced half-time switch-up.

Next in line is a name that has been taking the underground by storm recently, Noer the Boy, and his rendition of ‘Yangmei.’ We begin with a minimal intro and build-up, that leads to this trapped-out 808 heavy beat accompanied by some of the nastiest sound design you’ll find on the market right now.

Following this, we have Posij and Former’s take on ‘Goji,’ which offers an emotional and thoughtful breakbeat rendition of Goji. This track is filled with unconventional rhythms and creative percussion elements combined to create this wonderful soundscape.

Wrapping up this remix EP we have Thys’s from Noisia version of ‘Goji’. The DnB legend manages to turn an aggressive record, into one full of beautiful melodies, ambient synths, and emotion. This remix is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and showcases Thys’s world-class talent as a songwriter. Make sure you check out the whole thing down below if you haven’t already!

His forthcoming EP release via SATURATERECORDS, titled The Gift of Light, details an expansive inquisition within the heart of exploratory sounds, which features four original tracks and a hand-selected remix to accompany each.

The expedient pace and distinct percussion of ‘Well Hello There,’ coupled with the dark ambiance that mantles the EP as a whole, proved to be the ideal foundation for Lisbon-based turntablist sensation DJ Ride. A distinctly audible acuity is established in even the earliest infancies of the track as enunciated snares bridle a rapidly unwinding digital preamble before launching into precipitous thrusts of bass repudiated with incisive percussion.

DJ Ride meets and exceeds all expectations with his take on ‘Well Hello There’ from SUAHN’s forthcoming SATURATERECORDS EP. Be sure to check out the remix below, as well as the full project as it becomes available on March 20th.

As he tells us he’s “still on his b-boy shit!” With Dj Ride hot off the release of his Slow Roast backed Meraki EP, it’s only right that he connected with the Slow Roast boss for a banger. As Craze explains, “‘Who Wan Test Us’ was a collab we started around the time he sent in his Meraki EP for Slow Roast. He had sent me an idea and I just went IN!!! It got that futuristic boom bap flava that we both love and shit bangs!”

As soon as you press play, it’s clear Craze isn’t exaggerating, this definitely BANGS. From the dystopian sci-fi horns, to the computerize flourishes, hip hop groove and the face-scrunchingly filthy drops, this one hits in all the right spots. “When I’m at the studio the number one goal is to have fun and do something I’m proud of it. Also my focus nowadays is to make tracks I can play on my sets, so this fits perfectly, it got the hip hop/beats/halftime vibes, it’s a great crossover between our hip hop and bass background. I hope people like it and catch all the details we put together,” Dj Ride tells us.

Combining futuristic flavour, bass heavy filth and an underlying hip hop swagger makes ‘Who Wan Test Us’ an absolute slapper. If you’re feeling the latest, you’re in luck as Craze tells us, “I want people to expect more of this vibe on Slow Roast …. I wanna be the “Night Bass” for this vibe in the US and all over the world.” We’re certainly here for it.
