DMX and Swizzy are back! This isn’t some nostalgia induced dream, this is real life. The Dark Man and Swizz Beatz are back at it like it’s 98′. ‘Bain Iz Back’ sees Swizzy on the beat and dropping vocals for the hook and intro. Despite a shaky past few years, DMX proves he’s still got it, delivering ferocious and ruthless bars like, “Motherfuck you and your man, we can do it with the hands/ Fuck I need a gun for?/ I done fucked a lot of bitches already/ So when it come to pussy you just one more/ Hit ’em with the ‘what for’…” It’s a strong return and reminder that X isn’t to be fucked with. Let’s hope this is the first of many to come from the duo.

What’s the key to life? Money, Power, Respect has one of the most recognizable beats (if you’re a hip-hop head). This song is the title track from the The LOX debut album of the same name. Featuring the Double R (Ruff Ryders) head honcho and compadre DMX and then labelmate Lil’ Kim, this track is one of the hardest tracks from The LOX’s stint at Bad Boy. If you didn’t know, The LOX is comprised of Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and of course Styles P. Back when Diddy signed them to Bad Boy Entertainment, they were in a great position to record and release quality music. You may have noticed The LOX on a few of Puff’s joints (It’s All About the Benjamins) but soon after the debut album dropped in ’98, they joined X’s label and Interscope. Now, they sit at the tables of their own label – D Block Records. No matter where they get their bread from, The LOX is one of the illest groups out – bump this throwback in case you forgot.

#tbt – Tracks You May Have Missed – DMX – Keep Your Shit The Hardest

It’s about to go down! As I was thinking about what track we would use for this week’s #tbt, I kept going back to the late 90’s era of rap. I reached out a ClassyVlassy to find out what he thought would be good. He mentioned a Jay track from the DJ Clue Professional series. I thought about it for a while throughout the day and then it hit me. DMX. Kids today either have no idea about who X is, think he’s a cat that got blackballed for being on drugs or calling out some industry heads. Darkman X is a cat that was known for bringing raw, gritty lyrics. The track “Keep Your Shit The Hardest” comes off of DMX’s second album Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood.
