Every so often I come across an artist that instantly blows me away and makes me think “how is this guy not huge?” As was the case when I heard Drekmartinez. My introduction to him was ‘No LOve LOst’ a moving and inventive track that is guaranteed to please. Since its release earlier this year Drek has been on a tear, dropping consistently impressive tunes (‘Muse’, ‘Dear Missy’, ‘Winter Is Coming…’). Last month Diplo uploaded the acapellas from his Random White Dude Be Everywhere album asking producers to “do something cool with this.” Which brings us to today’s premiere. Immensely talented producer Drekmartinez has decided to flip Diplo and Alvaro’s ‘6th Gear’. Steering things into a completely new direction Drek pairs the ratchet vocals over a smooth and sexy beat. The juxtaposition of gritty rap and stunning futuristic melodies is absolutely perfect. Listen for yourself below.

One of our favorite under the radar producers Drekmartinez has just put out a new track. Entitled ‘Dear Missy’ the song opens with an ominous exotic vibe that calls to mind images of a foggy day in the jungle. As it progresses we get hit with some heavy bass and plethora of crazy samples from animal sounds, sirens and a bunch of vocal samples (I believe Childish Gambino, Drake, and Missy are all sprinkled in). The end result is an original sound that gets better with each listen. If this is your first time listening to Drekmartinez be sure to check out ‘Muse’ and ‘No LOve LOst’.
