Eastern Bloc Expand Sound on ‘Double A’ EP

One of New Zealand’s finest production duos, Eastern Bloc, are back with a new EP. Double A sees them further expanding and refining their sound. ‘Astro Boy’ which features assistance from SoundCloud favourite Montell2099 is a drawn out, low key trap heater. The computer synths add a hypnotizing yet warming tone to the faint vocals bends and deep low end. Meanwhile ‘Knine’ opens with a cheery and sweet intro which is demolished by a raw vocal sample and some cavernous trap drops. As you adjust to the darkness things brighten once again, like the sun shining through a crack in a tomb. The cheery melodies are soon erased with a murderous drop. This balance of light and dark makes Double A an exciting experience that warrants multiple replays. Stream below and grab it on iTunes.

The familiar vocals and some smooth keys set things off slow but don’t be fooled, this one gets crazy. Vocal chops lead into a mind rattling drop that combines waves of future bass, gritty trap and touch of jersey club. New Zealand’s Eastern Bloc bring Jersey to the Shore

I experienced Jersey Club for the first time through simple research and some solid recommendations from FUXWITHIT Co-Founder Colin. It wasn’t until I experienced it at one of Toronto’s best venues (The Hoxton) that I became a fan. Jersey Club fused almost any track with a up tempo drum arrangement and usually a nasty vocal chop. Each time it was done differently but its distinct sound really carved a new genre in the electronic music game. Eastern Bloc comprised of two friends from New Zealand just dropped off a new banger titled ‘Pop Like’ and this might be the perfect introduction to Jersey Club if you’re new to it. The duo crafts pounding beats and combines them with a vocal chop that is so catchy you’ll be rocking with it less than 20 seconds into the track. With an EP dropping later this year you can expect more gems from the Eastern Bloc but for now jam out to ‘Pop Like’.
