There’s no doubt in our minds that Italy based producer, Eater isn’t afraid to experiment. He’s touched on many different genres in his discography from filthy trap and Dubstep, to beautiful ambient pieces. There’s no telling what you’ll be hearing next from him. But his brand new track ‘Tonight’ just dropped and we’re pleased to say that it’s truly a can’t miss.

Eater has continued to impress listeners with his production and vision throughout his time as a musician. We recommend checking out his past work to experience his journey through rhythm and sound. He’s released music that will make a crowd cry and go nuts at the same time. He is making quite a name for himself within the electronic community.

‘Tonight’ is a soft and gentle brush of fresh air for music lovers everywhere. The ambient background of synths that accompanies the soothing vocal really brings out the track’s qualities. You can feel the love and creativity Eater put into this piece. The whole beginning is a soundscape that lifts you up into the sky and takes you away to a whole new world. Next thing you know, he’s introducing a rapid buildup and quickly jumps into the chorus.

The drop is a blast of future bass chords that flutter around in your ears and mind for a gentle, yet heavy effect. His way of combining each element takes your breath away. When you thought it was over, he hints at the second drop, meaning it’ll hit that much harder. And it does that precisely. Eater decides to throw in some more movement and groove within the second half, making the listener stay in a dancing motion. At the end, the song leaves us on a pretty and mysterious tone, making you want more. Overall, ‘Tonight’ is beautifully crafted in every shape and form. It compliments not only Eater himself, but also the future bass genre as a whole. We’re very excited to see and hear to what he has in store next.

In a world where the frequency of releases is incomparable to past times, it has become so easy to lose quality music in an endless catalog of electronic music. Few artists have been able to constantly keep us on our toes during these times like Italy’s own, Eater. Over the past few years, Eater has built a catalog that conforms to no genre, and he has consistently tried his hand at various genres, even some hip-hop production. Recently the young legend dropped off a guest mix stacked full of bangers, and even a few FUX premieres along the way. Now Eater returns with his new EP The Unusual, which continues to empathize with the fact that he can not be confined within the boundaries of genres.

Beginning with ‘Made Of Glass,’ a track with a familiar collaborator in Edo, Eater takes us on a melodic journey that is not only progressive but eclectic. With pleasing piano melodies and soulful vocals, it’s intro and build-up serve to righteously build the suspense before being thrown into a very percussive drop filled with bubbly overtones.

Moving on we have ‘Gaara,’ Eater’s collaboration with Cable, and if you were expecting anything familiar sounding from the first track, you are gravely mistaken. We start with a banging trap beat accompanied by this catchy flute melody, before quickly being lead into a muddy build. Immediately after we’re met with a barrage of machine-gun synths and percussion that absolutely bangs.

Next up, we have arguably the most experimental tune on the project. ‘Aliens Came To Quarantine’ is a massive collaboration with bassReaper that truly puts your ears in a blender spits them out. Right out the gate, we’re met with this glitchy sound design that soon gets joined by building percussion elements. After a quick build, we’re launched into outer space with out-of-this-world sound design on the lead basses combined with a stark contrasting hi-end one-shot to fill the spaces in this section.

Last but not least we have yet another collaboration with Edo, and this one’s called ‘Mood’. This track is a testament to this EP and what Eater stands for as an artist. Beginning with a vibey trap-influenced beat in the intro, this track quickly evolves and progresses towards the realm of bass music. An ominous synth in the build and the “Fuck trap, Fuck Dubstep” vocals say all that needs to be said on where this track is heading. After this, we’re met with yet another genre-defying drop, filled with a barrage of kicks and percussion in the first section before giving way for more space in a half-time switch up. After another quick build, we’re hit with this insane hybrid trap-influenced switch up, which is sure to rinsed at a major festival. We caught up with Eater and asked for more insight on the vocal selection of the track and it’s tendency to jump between genres, “The intent was to remind people that genres are just boxes that we like to put music and artists in and that we should always try to merge different worlds and think a bit more outside of these boxes because that’s where we can have the most fun and make the most unique stuff that we can create.”

This project seems to evolve with every listen and is a testament to the reality of the electronic music space right now. The lines between genres are blurrier than ever, and artists like Eater are at the forefront of this new wave. We asked for Eater comments on this phenomenon to which he said, “I feel awesome and that’s what I’ll always try to do. You also might hear me trying to blend and experiment with genres even outside of the electronic scene in the future.”.

One thing is for sure, Eater isn’t going away anytime soon. Make sure to check out the whole project down below!

It always brings joy to our hearts when we can play a pivotal role in an artist’s early stages of their career by giving them a platform, and even more so when it’s someone who seems to be blazing their own path within the scene. Italy’s Francesco Guglielmi is the name in question here, or as we all know him by, Eater. Over the past few years, we’ve watched a truly unique and innovative sound being developed right in front of our eyes, with aggressive trap bangers like ‘Reset’ and ‘Redux’ and hard-hitting house tunes like ‘Business,’ Eater has shown us that becoming immersed in a variety of genres from the start can benefit the project as a whole.

Eater’s world-class production has recently begun to attract some attention by some of the bass scenes’ biggest names. ‘Machine-gun,’ his massive collab with GAWM has been rinsed by both NGHTMRE and Excision. We caught up with Eater and got some insight on what it’s like to see names like these playing tracks of his, “The motivation that it gave me is something that I cannot explain, I started as a DJ admiring these artists and seeing that they now play my music is such an amazing feeling…yeah recently I saw that Nghtmre just played Machine Gun too and I’ve been able to get some good feedback on my upcoming projects but for now, I will just say enjoy the lead single off my EP and get ready for the full Project, which I officially announce that it will come out this April.” It’s our honor to premiere the title track of Eater’s upcoming EP, ‘No Break’.

During the intro, we’re introduced to the beat that lays the foundation of this aggressive trap anthem, as well as the energetic lead vocal sample. After the vocal sample is looped behind the building drums, we’re thrown into a violent drop filled with legendary sound design straight out of a metal factory that still retains the groove and rhythm of the track perfectly. After a quick build-up, we’re immersed in an equally aggressive half-time switch up. The third drop is where it all comes together, combining elements of both drops to create a truly epic finale to this anthem.

After listening to this track a million and one times, we asked Eater what the message was he wanted to send by making this the title track of the EP. “The message that I want to send is that it is time for Eater to evolve, improve, and show people that I’m here to stay and make music that you will not find anywhere else, but at the same time have fun and experiment as I always try to do.” Stream it down below and be on the lookout for the full EP coming in April!

Italy’s Francesco Guglielmi, better known by his production alias Eater, has been crafting a diverse assortment of high-energy bass music for years now, all to major acclaim from some of the biggest names in the industry including most recently the head t-rex Excision himself. Finding a niche in the ever-growing experimental trap scene, he’s been growing at an exponential rate, with his titillating productions reaching tens-of-thousands pairs of ear canals. Now, he’s blessed us with an absolutely steamy guest mix, the 93rd edition in our series, and taken the time to answer a few questions about his beginnings, the state of the Italian music scene, and what he has coming next. Check out his phenomenal guest mix and full interview for yourself below!

What was the inspiration behind the name “Eater”?

Well, I wish that I had a better story for that, but basically I was looking around for a new name and I came around this track by Mura Masa called ‘Lotus Eater‘ and I didn’t really like the way that Lotus sounded in my head, so I went with Eater ahaha.

I see you grew up and currently live in Italy, can you tell us a little about how that’s shaped your journey so far?

Living in Italy has been both good and bad because the opportunity to make it in the bass music scene is a lot more difficult, but I think that is also what gives me an advantage because if you really want to go somewhere here you have to work ten times harder and the quality of your work has to be the best that it possibly can.

What’s the Italian music scene like? Is bass music big out there?

The Italian music scene right now is evolving around Italian rap which I’m not to a big fan of, but that’s another argument ahaha. The bass music here isn’t that big, at least for what I see, there are a couple of festivals which allow some artists from that scene to play, but I think that the time where you’ll see bass music have its own space here is still far, maybe in 5 to 10 years it will have the relevance that it has in the US right now, but that’s highly improbable. Even though I hope that I’m wrong about that and who knows, it might take over what the scene looks like right now.

What’s your biggest motivator? What gets you up every morning excited to put in work?

My biggest motivator now is my girlfriend which is also my biggest fan. Seeing her reaction when I make something cool pays off every bad moment and struggle. My biggest excitement is still to get up every morning and put the work in, other than her is just me imagining the sensation of being able to travel, live, and be happy with my passion, and also make other people happy with it at the same time.

…taking breaks and enjoying your family and friends is more productive than destroying yourself with work, because at the end of the day music has to be fun and not forced.

How do you find a happy balance of working on music while also maintaining a normal life?

I still struggle with that but I think that I’m finding the way to do it. One of the best pieces of advice that I received was “work smarter not harder” which shifted the way that I work. Right now, I still work hard and a lot don’t get me wrong, but yeah sometimes taking breaks and enjoying your family and friends is more productive than destroying yourself with work, because at the end of the day music has to be fun and not forced.

We just premiered your collab with Edo, ‘40Hz’, can you tell us how you guys got connected and what the process was like?

Me and Edo go way back ahah, we went to middle school together and been friends since, so we just meet really often like we’ve been doing since then, but right now we make music on top of that. One day we were at Edo’s studio and we were just playing around until we got some ideas and one of that was what eventually evolved into ’40hz.’

having the right references and not putting a ton of stuff into your track and keeping it as simple as possible really helps achieving that.

Something I’ve noticed about your production is that it’s insanely crisp, do you have any tips & tricks to reach that same level of polish?

Well, first of all thank you for that compliment, and I don’t really have any specific advice to share because it all comes pretty natural to me fortunately, but having the right references and not putting a ton of stuff into your track and keeping it as simple as possible really helps achieving that. And also choose wisely what you’re putting into the track and not just using something to fill it up.

You’ve made a wide range of genres throughout your releases, what kind of advantage do you believe this gives you?

I think that it gives me the ability to experiment a lot more than I would if I would have locked myself into a specific genre, and that was one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made for myself.

Any plans for some shows out here in the US anytime soon?

Unfortunately at the moment there are not shows planned out for the US, but I have a good feeling that 2020 will bring good news for that.

You’ve made an absolutely blazing guest mix for us today! Can you walk us through what you’ve prepared and how you went about putting it together?

First of all thank you for the kind words, and yeah so the mix included some of my newest tracks along with some IDs and edits of them, and it will also premiere the new tracks off my upcoming EP. I wanted to give listeners a little sneak peak of some ideas that I have lying around, and also some collaborations that I’m really excited for. I don’t promise that everything you hear will come out but fingers crossed.

2020 is already off to a blazing start for you, is there anything on the horizon you’d like to talk about?

Well this Friday my track ‘Machine Gun’ with my friend Gawm will release on Bourne Recording. It’s been played repeatedly by Excision, so we’re pretty excited for that one. After that my EP will come out, which I’m also pretty excited for because it’s going to set the bar even higher. And yeah, after that expect a lot of different music, I already have something planned but I don’t want to give it away yet, so I would say get ready for my EP but also keep an eye open for what’s coming after that.

At FUXWITHIT, we spend more time in the underground than an earthworm, and it almost always pays off. It’s our honor to introduce Eater to you from the FUX fam. Eater is one of those young producers that’s been on our radar for a while now. Hailing from Italy, the young artist had a trendsetting 2019 with his two break-out trap anthems ‘Redux’ and ‘Reset’. We’ve come to love the range of sounds and melodies in his hard-hitting trap records and this time Eater teams up with fellow countryman Edo and their new track ’40hz’.

The tone is set immediately out the gate with ominous ambient synths combined with a syncopated snare & hi hat combo which continues to carry the rhythm masterfully. As we approach the one minute mark we’re introduced to a thick lead sub which pulsates in between that mean snare & hi hat combo, which at this point in the track feels more like a swift slap to the ears. As we reach the second drop, the pulsating sub in the first drop doubles in frequency injecting a slightly more uptempo energy into the track. For the last switch up, the track reaches its final form with all the elements of the other sections combined with insane off-the-wall laser-like synths, sending the listener way past Earth’s orbit.

We caught up with Eater and picked his brain on the inspiration behind his work, “My inspiration came from a lot of different things, movies, games, or just different music that you don’t associate with the bass scene. The biggest one for me though is Skrillex, he’s one of the best and I don’t think I have to sit here and explain why he’s on another planet when it comes to being an artist and knowing how to create a world for your music and your brand.”

Considering the underground European bass scene has recently given us a few FUX favorites like msft. and Krischvn, we got some insight into what’s going on across the pond, “I feel like the underground/trap scene is not very big still and don’t get me wrong new people are coming out quite often that want to make music but the best at the moment are Tryple & Automhate which make more dubstep/riddim but you’ll see them more and more often in the scene and there’s msft which is bringing something really interesting to the scene. I like how the scene in Europe is starting to get more and bigger every day, especially with guys like Nvadrz and Krischvn, they’re showing that no matter where you live as long as you have good music you can achieve big goals.” Don’t miss any of Eater’s releases and go grab this one down below!
