Chicago boys Dennis Castelan and Chris Clingingsmith have been consistently turning up the temperature with ferocious release after release under their Elevatd production alias. With an emphasis on making beats that are downright deadly in all facets, this dynamic duo have been snapping necks and taking names with no regard for human life in their path. Up to this point, they’ve continuously pumped out immensely successful singles like ‘Decimation‘ on Buygore and its VIP, along with a wildly popular remix of Fisher’s ‘Losing It’, and a guest mix for us here on FUXWITHIT. Now, they’ve raised the bar even higher, gracing the world with their debut EP Wavez, a paradise for fans of disgusting hybrid trap music.

‘Sludge’, a collaboration with the swiftly rising Wylin, begins your descent into the grim depths of this monstrous body of work. Opening with a stylistically dark and intimidating air, the piece quickly devolves into a torrential downpour of deep dubstep undulations that disrupt the very fiber of your existence. Ludacris asked “how low can you go?” and this track limbo’d at a ninety degree angle. The latter drop has a much heftier infusion of chaotic energy, demolishing even the most passionate fans of dirty bass music.

Once you’re firmly strapped-in, the title track of the EP rears its devilish form. ‘Wavez’ makes just that, as it’s so hefty superman would be hard-pressed to pick up this bad boy. You’re greeted by the vocals “fuck around and drown off this” right before you’re backhanded by unquestionably adulterous noises. A one-way ticket to spiked adrenal glands and dilated pupils, you’ll be literally high off these beats, a blend of euphoria and bone-crushing viciousness that is oh-so-satisfying. The initial drop sounds like an immense death ray, incinerating everything in sight, while the 2nd drop sounds like an attack chopper primed to strike. The last is like a Frankenstein’s monster combination of the first two, death by dubstep surely imminent. Between it’s diversity and sheer brutality, this is my personal favorite track on Wavez.

Vercu adds his in his own flavor to ‘OG Boi,’ leaving this track dripping in character and intensity. The opening drop will have you rubbing dirt off your shoulders before it switches up to a gross tumult of massive bass howls. The vocals sprinkled in with the guttural filth creates this hardcore trap extravaganza, not for the faint of heart. The latter drop is delightfully punchy and full-bodied, flexing sound systems to their furthest capabilities. Their use of space keeps your ears guessing, never quite sure when the next expertly-timed switch will occur. This is a true testament to the skills of both artists.

The next track is sure to cause an immediate ‘Meltdown,’ as your consciousness reverts back to primal times, full fight-or-flight mode engaged. Sydney, Australia’s Benji lends a hand on this track, his beat patterns easily distinguishable amongst the fold. This is the final collaboration on Wavez, with each one having a unique flavor and style of its own. This piece hits like a sucker punch to the stomach, completely knocking the wind out of you and taking you to your knees. “Now you’re going to die” is looped over each drop, a constant reminder that ‘Meltdown’ will literally end you if you’re not careful.

‘Exitium’ is the final chapter in Wavez, and it’s the biggest departure from the rest of the pieces in terms of base style. Where hybrid trap is at a focus in the other tracks, this is much more dubstep oriented even from the get-go. The first drop almost toes the line with riddim, and the 2nd adds a ridiculous melody that really turns things up to 11. Afterwards you’ll surely be left wondering what’s coming next, and you’ll be rewarded with a ludicrous trap switch bringing out the heartiest of bass faces.

Wavez from start to finish is a major success, but especially so as a debut EP. ELEVATD have shown once again that they can put out some of the heaviest hybrid trap in the game, and have absolutely earned a place on peoples’ radars for the entire rest of the year. For now, check out all the Wavez these boys have been making below!

Chi-town dealers of decimation, Dennis Castelan and Chris Clingingsmith, also known by their duo name ELEVATD, have been demolishing the bass music empire with utter viciousness as of late. Their first release on Buygore, aptly titled ‘Decimation’ has surpassed 50,000 streams in just over 3 months, with each subsequent release since reaching upwards of 10,000 plays, some many times that. Incorporating an underlying hip-hop aesthetic with absolutely deadly drops that defy all forms of legality, this duo is just scratching the surface of their full potential. Their latest work ‘U No Eye,’ continues their campaign of carnage, sure to take out a few victims along the way.

‘U No Eye’ loops the vocal sample “all I do is” all the way up to the drop, finally answering what in fact they do by bodying each and every listener with monstrous bass lines. The first part of the initial drop is crunchy and has quick notes that create a very danceable atmostphere, before the latter part hammers you with maniacal low end that breaks necks with utter ease. Aided by a familiar sample from the Flintstones, you can tell this was a song they had an incredible amount of fun producing. The second drop has a ridiculously sharp, trappy melody with the low end of the latter part of the first drop, creating a sonic bass-face factory; free admission of course.

ELEVATD continue to grow and develop their skills, with each fresh release turning heads and gaining support from some of the biggest names in heavy bass music. With several more saucy productions just on the horizon, this is a duo that you need to keep firmly on your radar. Make sure to check out ‘U No Eye’ for yourself below!

ELEVATD have been truly elevating their game as of late, with ‘Decimation’, released through Buygore, reaching almost 30k streams and gaining support from some of the biggest names in the industry. Just last week they released a ludicrous guest mix for us, stacked to the brim with 18 unreleased songs that’ll make you grimace so hard in disgust you’ll chip your front teeth. One of the highlights of the mix was an edit they did of Fisher’s ‘Losing It’ that was never supposed to see a release. Due to exceptional fan feedback they’ve decided to unchain the beast and let it loose upon ever-awaiting bassheads’ ears.

The first drop is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, with each bassline leaving an impactful and delightful thud. The switch ups between more hollow but drawn-out notes and quick high-pitched laser sounds create a wonderful dichotomy of noise that allows the person dancing to switch up their moves frequently on the fly. The second drop elongates things even further, expanding upon the already established base elements and making them pop even more and adding further layers to serve up a smorgasbord of audio.

Elevatd continue to show time and time again that they are here to play and can stand their own with some of the top talent around. With a treasure trove of music to come on the horizon and an already impressive list of releases, the future is exceedingly bright for this Chicago duo. This is one fan surely excited for what is yet to come.

Chicago based duo of destruction, Elevatd, comprised of members Dennis Castelan and Chris Clingingsmith, have been grabbing the world of excessively heavy bass music by the balls lately. Their gritty, grimey, hard-hitting “smack you so hard you run home crying to your mama” type sound has been making heads turn so quick they’ve been billed from several chiropractors. Their freshman release on Buygore, ‘Decimation’ has already amassed over 22 thousand plays after being released just 20 days ago.

Riding this tidal wave of momentum, these midwest boys took some time to sit down with us and talk about their beginnings, journeys, passions, and tastes, along with putting together a guest mix so nutty squirrels have started hoarding speakers playing it. The mix includes a mind-boggling 18 unreleased songs from the duo (no, I promise that isn’t a typo).

Step right up to this veritable beat buffet and let your face automatically contort into all sorts of hideous expressions as the bass takes control. If you’re looking for something fresh to add into your weekly rotation or something to motivate your workouts to keep that summer body in peak condition, look no further! Check out the guest mix and interview for yourself below!

Tell us a little about yourselves

We are ELEVATD from Chicago, Dennis Castelan & Chris Clingingsmith. Just trying to make music that will ELEVATE yourself, & your mind.
Give us a rundown of your musical journey so far.

The “ELEVATD” project itself is going to hit two years in November. We both came from different projects in the past, but we found working together our skills complemented each other perfectly & both had the same vision. As far as the journey since then, it’s been exactly the metaphorical roller-coaster you’d expect. Hitting the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but here we are, so cheers to that.

Who were your biggest inspirations growing up?

Chris: Coming from a metal screamo background my first musical inspiration that drove me to start making music was Avenged Sevenfold. I like to think you can hear some of the inspiration in some of our tunes with epic breaks and orchestral aspects. As far as my biggest Electronic inspiration, would be RL Grime, he was one of the first shows I ever went to and constantly puts on the best performance every time I’ve seen him since .

Dennis: Growing up I spent a lot of time listening to music, tons of different kinds of music. One of my earliest memories is collecting all the Tapes/CD’s my parents had and throwing them all on randomly on their CD player. My dad listened to all the classic Hip-Hop & Rap artists, he always said it’s about the BASS. My mom was huge on freestyle, Spanish, & early 90’s dance music. But some of my biggest inspirations growing up have to be Mac Miller, System of the Down, & Kid Cudi.

Where does the name ‘Elevatd’ come from?

We want this project and our music to be an outlet for people to ELEVATD themselves from all the negativity that surrounds this world.

What sound have you been really trying to hone in on as of late?

It honestly just depends on whatever we are feeling that day, our main focus is to not define ourselves.

Walk us through the guest mix you’ve prepared for us today! What was your overall theme? And how did you balance the flow?

Well it couldn’t have come at a better time to tell you the truth. Over the past year we’ve made so much music that no one has heard and would’ve probably never heard if it wasn’t for this mix. We made a bunch of edit’s specifically for this mix & just dumped as many ID’s as we could into it ;)

What producers or labels do you feel are pushing the boundaries of sound the furthest recently?

Never Say Die that label always puts out consistent quality tunes & spotlights, some of the heaviest music in the industry. We just released a song on Buygore with our boy Dogma named Decimation and they all around crush it. We really like all the stuff from Jadū Dala, WEDIDIT COLLECTIVE, Wakaan, Elysian Records, Quality Goods Records, & Deadbeats all quality stuff. As far as artists go listen to this mix, we added tons of music we love from all of our friends.

Besides electronic music, what other types of music and artists do you guys listen to in your free time?

Chris: Anything that’s good lol, anything that makes you feel a proper amount of emotion and is produced well.

Dennis: Mac Miller he’s one of my idols! Kid Cudi as well they are always on repeat.

Since you guys are from Chicago, what’s your favorite food specific to the city?

Chris: Any Italian cuisine.

Dennis: If your not from Chicago you gotta hit up Portillo’s but if not Big n’ Litte’s, Lazo’s Tacos, or Buffalo Joe’s they got the best wings in the city!

Do you have anything big coming in the last 4 months of 2019 you’d like to talk about?

Newly established Chicago based duo ELEVATD marked their first single release ‘Curse Them All’ just over a year ago, leveraging the downtime as an opportunity to discover their vision for the project leaving a trove of dynamic remixes such as Louis the Child’s ‘Slow Down Love’ in their wake.

Marking the first exploration into a collaborative release, the pair teams up with fellow Chicago producer SNOOF for a showdown ‘This Will Never End’, which as the title suggests, displays an onslaught of industrial bass hits and razor-sharp snare patterns that will leave you gasping for every last breath.

With a solid foundation in place, the future looks bright for the newest addition to the Chicago bass music scene, and we cannot wait to see what the coming year has in store for ELEVATD. Be sure to grab the free download of the track here.
