Following the release of Emalkay’s Reworked EP at the end of last month, which revisits and revamps a number of his breakaway hits through his own eyes as well as the likes of Conrank, OLIVERSE, and Truth, it only seemed right to unearth one of the earliest steamrollers from Emalkay titled ‘Fabrication’.

Wintry middle-eastern chanting paints a sinister introduction to the track. A decisive strike of bass initiates a distant muffled melody which meanders feverishly in the background before a sudden precipitous silence unleashes the wonky harmony in full cadence. Dizzying risers whirl overhead as a commanding vocal sample propels the tune into a ceaseless barrage of wobbles.

Like a fine cured ham, Emalkay’s production talents only continue to tenderize with age. ‘Fabrication’ is a brilliant depiction of the timeless UK-dubstep style and still slaps just as ferociously as it did when it was released 8 years ago.
