With restrictions lifting across the states, we couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to be writing about events again. Even more so when it’s an event full of FUX favorites! capshun along with plenty of familiar names from the Bonsai Collective roster like spüke and Sasha Rome are bringing their talents to Dallas, TX on July 16th for a true return to action. ESCAPISM is going on its third year with Illuzyn as host and capshun as headliner, but the addition of the names on Bonsai Collective makes this a must-make event. Many moons ago (over four years now), the young godfather of future beats released Escapism; the first installment of what would become a game-changing selection of projects. Among other genre-defying sonic masterpieces, Sam Gellaitry included one of the biggest bops in trap music history: ‘Long Distance’.

Featured in a 2018 Diet Coke Super Bowl commercial, this heater exemplifies Gellaitry’s masterful technique of crafting beats that draw from elements of jazz and otherworldly soundscapes while still slapping so hard they’ll knock you over. The prodigy has kept his head low the past few months but noted his upcoming album is nearing completion. We’re listening back through his discography in anticipation.

Sam Gellaitry Pushes Things Forward With ‘Escapism III’

The past few years have been quite the ride for young Scottish producer Sam Gellaitry. He’s gone from building early buzz on SoundCloud in 2013-2014, to dropping his first EP Short Stories (2015) to doing initial tours in the US while continuing to put out new tracks. 2017 has seen him play Coachella, perform at shows with the illustrious DJ Shadow & he’s currently on a massive US, Canada & Europe tour. His latest EP Escapism III dropped earlier this month & showcases the same Hudmo, future R&B, vibe heavy sound of his previous work but with a slightly more developed sound. He has a knack for bringing us along as his production chops keep elevating. While he’s still kept the general beat structure as his previous work, you can tell by tracks like ‘Midnight Racer’ and the cinematic ‘Jungle Waters’ that he’s still pushing the envelope. In a recent interview Jamz Supernova commented on how much feeling and emotion goes into each song and Escapism III really echoes this. Stream below and grab it here.
