When it comes to ford., there’s always a sacred aura surrounding his announcements. The wait of new music is always a kind of serene religious ritual that turns into sincere jubilation when the decisive moment arrives. In the past couple of days we’ve experienced one of these epiphanies, under the form of the disclose of the release date of his second album (October 16th via Foreign Family) and the publication of the title track: ‘The Color Of Nothing’. The song arrives after the atmospheric ‘Hold On’ featuring Ayelle and the stomping ‘Living, Breathing’ (both included in the LP) and stands right in between their two different moods. As the opening track, ‘The Color Of Nothing’ welcomes the listener with a mild arpeggio that slowly evolves into an instrumental ballad, flavored by calming chords and ford.’s signature groove and percussions. Echoed voices and melancholic synths come and go, following one another in a hypnotic flow rich of visions and suggestions. An oneiric journey where the listener is free to travel with their imagination and be inspired.

‘The Color Of Nothing’ comes alongside an exquisitely trippy music video directed by Kusanagi & Landis Tanaka and a very limited run of recycled merch. Check the full tracklist below, stream the song and pre-save the album on your favourite player here.

Despite the fact that I have got to know a lot of producers and artists during these years and their respective creative processes, sometimes, when I bump into some incredibly powerful pieces of art, I wonder how humans can create such beautiful things. Since I pretty much have zero creative skills (musically speaking) within me, at certain levels music really seems to me a magical matter that must be created in some mystical places or alternative dimension, and not in a physical studio. Hanz, ford. and sonn have always been among these wizard’s circle, and seeing them all together on a single project immediately foreshadowed an epiphany.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZctVhJtlSk]

“Collaborations like this are what makes the indie electronic music scene such a positive place. When artists have the ability to express themselves through working with other artists, miracles like this happen.” Sometimes I think that I could compose entire write ups with the great comments I read online. This is exactly one of the cases where it wouldn’t be possible to find better words to explain the intrinsic value of this collaborative EP. Every single piece of the ‘Good Company’ is a little golden nuggets itself: the drum patterns in ‘Home’ and ‘Endsong,’ the chords in ‘U Stay,’ all details which don’t pass unnoticed and that I’d gladly put on loop for minutes and minutes. The track order is, in addition, the icing on the cake of the EP. The vibes rise and fall in a impeccable way thanks to a classy turnover of instrumental and vocal beats.

Big up to the Foreign Family Collective for giving sonn, Hanz and ford., the possibility to create this heavenly EP! You can enjoy ‘Good Company’ on SoundCloud below or on your favourite platform here

Growing their fan-base through consistently profound and meaningful tracks, MEMBA embody skilful experimentation while remaining true to their sound and style. Now, they return to Foreign Family Collective with another endearing single titled ‘Meet Freedom’ featuring poignant vocals from Levus Alone.

‘Meet Freedom’ boasts a sombre undertone layered below contrasting uplifting tones throughout, yet these different vibes never clash as MEMBA have executed the piece to perfection. In the five-track endeavour, Duskus reminds us all why he is among the most innovative producers in the game, blurring the lines between cutesy pop and emotionally-driven electronic music.

The lead track titled ‘Be there for you’ is the perfect embodiment of the constant novelty in Duskus’ sound, portraying his usual lighthearted bounce with endearing vocal layers. ‘I can change your mind’ continues along this cheerful, jaunty note, before ‘I feel alive’ slows things down a notch with drawn out notes inspiring a true reflective aura. ‘Can’t stand the feeling’ returns to the uplifting vibe with amusing chord progressions driving the track forward and plushy synths sure to put a smile on your face. Capped off with ‘I remember you,’ the In Retrospect EP closes off just as delightfully as it started.

In five tracks that are sure to captivate your attention from start to finish, Duskus has created a masterpiece. Don’t miss the In Retrospect EP below.

Although Duskus‘ move to Odesza’s Foreign Family Collective came as a surprise to many, fans can rest easy knowing that the artist hasn’t changed his artistic direction. In fact, he has only continued to push his musical boundaries in the last few months working hard on his upcoming In Retrospect EP. The first single that Duskus is sharing with the masses from the project is ‘I can change your mind,’ a track that was first teased almost a year ago in his Too Future mix.

‘I can change your mind’ is a slow burning, twisting jam that pulls in and out of consciousness, almost in a hypnotizing way that echoes the title. Bridging the gap between British and American electronic music, Duskus blends lo-fi house and future beats interspersed with his signature vocal chops in a truly unique way that continues to push the boundaries of the scene. Relaxing yet energizing, ‘I can change your mind’ is quintessential Duskus with added bounce and ethereality that is sure to put a smile on your face. Check it out below.

Following up on their highly successful and energy-filled SAGA-I EP from last year, MEMBA have been slowly building hype for the follow-up with the release of the summer-ready ‘Schools Out,’ the moving ‘Walls Down‘ and the melodic ‘Inevitable‘ over the last few months. Today, the talented artists finally unleash SAGA-II in full and we couldn’t be more excited.

“After the filthiness that was ‘SAGA-I,’ we decided to come back with something drastically different. The new EP offers 7 songs that convey life on ‘SAGA-II,’ a planet of newfound awareness where people accept life and death as they are, using it to live better now,” MEMBA state about the theme of their newest project. By more than doubling the number of tracks from the first instalment, the New York-based producers really showcase their evolution as artists with SAGA-II.

From the aforementioned tracks to the four new songs, MEMBA have created an emotion-driven piece in SAGA-II. Using melodies and layers of carefully selected sounds throughout the tracks, MEMBA drive home the theme of exploration the of past and uncertainty of the future to live in the present. From the introductory ‘1 More Mile,’ a sense of journey is instilled upon listeners through the rhythmic feel of the track. ‘Boundless’ sees the producers return to their old style to give energy to this adventure through time, while ‘Smara’ is simply a feel-good anthem reminding listeners to enjoy the moment. The vocal-centric ‘Alright With Me’ is the cherry on top of the incredible body of work that is SAGA-II. Don’t miss this epic release and the official video below.

If Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ had a soundtrack, it would be exactly this one. It’s not an overstatement, ‘(The) Evening’ is a masterwork, I’m not afraid to say it. It’s a flawless project that owns the colors and emotions of the sunsets, the magic of a reverie, the magnetism of a smile. While we couldn’t expect less from such a talent, I have to admit Ford. has exceeded any expectations with this album. ‘(The) Evening’ is a full package: there’s no filler tracks (not even the instrumental version of ‘Craving’), no purposeless interludes and not only is each one of the ten tracks remarkable by itself, but the story they create flows fluidly like poetry.

Rarely do I appreciated so much of the tracks’ disposition. While the instrumental ones tease our fantasies and imagination with amusing bright landscapes, the charming voices of Sarah Kinsley and Sophie Meyers burst into the story with perfect timing and, like the legendary sirens, seduce us listeners, making us loose ourselves in these enchanted views.
