Among the best at creating truly awe-inspiring pieces, Frequent and Hudson Lee can combine vivacious energy with perplexing soundscapes like no other. While independently demonstrating their innate musical talents countless times over, their joining of forces always transcends expectations and barriers within the electronic music realm. When these two incredible musicians collaborate, the last thing one should expect is a cookie-cutter, three-minute, two-drop song made for the masses. Instead, one should open their mind to a journey through sound, allowing it to get lost in the intricacies of their productions.

Last coming together on ‘Windows‘ earlier this year, Frequent and Hudson Lee are back with another beautiful opus titled ‘Forest Fires’ that we are ecstatic to premiere today. When asked about how it all came together, Hudson states, “It was a track I had initially written as a part of a score for my sister’s aerial gymnastics troupe, in which she would swing in front of visuals of a forest fire on red ribbons. Nolan (Frequent) was interested in the unique direction I was headed in and I asked him if he wanted to expand on the idea. We slaved away at the track for a bit, talking over the internet with screen and audio share. When I went to Denver to go work on music with Nolan later in the year, we worked on the track over several sessions in the moments where we weren’t working on our collaborative record. I’m really proud of the track while I think it represents a new era of some of the most unique music we’ve made.”

We couldn’t agree more with the last statement. Ethereal atmospheres are depicted through graceful synths with magical effects transporting you to the depths of an enchanted forest. A vivid balance between complex electronic sounds and underlying musicality, ‘Forest Fires’ is the culmination of two forward-thinking creatives coming together in a single electrifying piece.

In an era where it is incredibly common to stumble upon generic, repetitive bass music, there is nothing more invigorating than finding an artist who continuously breaks these barriers of conformity. A prime example of this statement is Frequent, who recently dropped a dual single titled ‘The Goop // Hold My Tongue’ that embodies a fresh, forward-thinking mindset. Out now…

Out now on Upscale, Frequent’s newest two-track offering is groovy yet gritty. It is melodic, yet mean. A distorted synths kicks off ‘The Goop’ before rhythmic drums are introduced to carry the groove of the track forward. Slowly yet surely, Frequent adds a multitude of layers ranging from vocals chops, to plucky lasers, to funky fills, all to give the bass tune an unnatural yet fitting danceable feel. The melodies and arrangements behind ‘The Goop’ are hypnotizing while the synths and sounds are sure to unleash your bass face. ‘Hold My Tongue’ is equally as dangerous, as Frequent has created a high-energy heater that will leave you breathless through its raw ingenuity.

Don’t miss ‘The Goop // Hold My Tongue’ below!
