]]> In 2010, Roc Nation’s J.Cole dropped a body of work widely known to be his best. Friday Night Lights was simply a mixtape, produced by Cole, but it definitely sounded like an album. Soon after his debut album dropped I found myself having a discussion about FNL versus Cole World and which one of them should have been the real debut. Five years later, Friday Night Lights is still a personal favourite and for todays throwback feature we look back at one of the tracks from the stellar body of work. ‘Back to the Topic’ is an effortless display of skill from lyrics to flow and delivery. The North Carolina native goes in for about 3 minutes, snapping on a beat with minimal drums. Regardless, the flow is so pungent that it keeps your rocking with the whole way through.
