Gaszia is a man of many definitions. They call him a visionary, a wizard or, more simply, a legend. I like to picture him as a musical alchemist. Over the years I’ve seen him putting his spin on dozens of different sounds, all mastered with impeccable technical skills and forward-thinking creativity. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks his story would deserve a whole article, or even a full-length book.

If this scenario were to happen, what is certain is that a chapter would be dedicated to his bootlegs and, especially, his own Bandcamp Edit series. Launched in 2020, this “collection of edits made over the years” as he usually belittles it, is a goldmine of deep cuts of the rarest kind. With 36 edits spanning over five volumes, it features reworks of hits from the likes of Deadmau5, laxcity, Lil Uzi Vert, Ivy Lab, Jeff Mills, G Jones x Eprom, Pinkpantheress, Skrillex, T-Pain, Sinjin Hawke, Cesco and, of course, Hudson Mohawke and Nikki Nair’s ‘Set The Roof.’ That’s not all, of course. His bootleg-master status is solidified also by the priceless selection of phenomenal tracks we can find in his SoundCloud likes, on his live sets’ tracklists and on his Patreon.

At this point, I believe it’s pretty clear why I wanted him to join the panel of Bootleg Business curators. Right below you can dig into a first-class selection of bootlegs he selected exclusively for FUXWITHIT, while you can enjoy the latest Gaszia’s originals here.

frog chaser – I’m losing the eskimo pulse!!!

A recent discovery within the last year is frog chaser. Everything they do is pretty bonkers. Their most recent “magnum opus” edit consists of an incredible club reconstruction of the famous ‘pulse x’ bass.

[bandcamp width=100% height=120 track=2321617161 size=large bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5 tracklist=false artwork=small]

TOKISCHA & YOMEL EL MELOSO – Calentura Vaginal (Wost Hard Drum Edit)

This one has been a staple in my sets lately and it goes off every time. Don’t sleep on Wost. Everything he does is phenomenal.

[bandcamp width=100% height=120 album=1650265189 size=large bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5 tracklist=false artwork=small track=1046616910]

Gwen Stefani – WIND IT UP CITYTRONX REFIX

Citytronix is probably one of the most diverse artists I’ve come across recently. I had the pleasure of meeting them and seeing them perform an unbelievable set in London last year. This ‘wind it up’ refix wastes no time getting to the point and is just a crazy live tool to play out.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1512957361″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Scratcha DVA & Sinjin Hawke – JME Dafuq

I could gush about Sinjin Hawke loads but this reinterpretation of his track with Scratcha DVA is phenomenal. What he did to the JME acapella is also just so creative. Every Sinjin Hawke track/edit is always a weapon.

DJ G2G – MY HUMPS JUST WANNA VROOM VROOM

I always play a DJ G2G edit in my sets, but this one in particular is just a dancefloor weapon. Incredible front-to-back.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1582015023″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

DJBBOY X ML BUCH – HIGH SPEED [SALT_SERVER OUTRO BLEND]

A great closer (or opener) for a set, this mashup is a great pairing of two songs from opposite ends of the musical spectrum. Really well executed.

If it wasn’t for Tiesto randomly spinning some drum&bass on UMF mainstage or Four Tet going wild at every show, the festival season would have felt like a lazily scripted Netflix series so far. While we wait to sound out the tracklists of the two Coachella weekends, Bootleg Business is here to spice things up.

This month, my guest is a true bootleg master, someone who dares to lurk in the depths of the web, looking for forgotten gems and who is not afraid to drop an Ariana Grande and Aphex Twin mash-up in the middle of a set. I’m talking about Ramon Pang of course. I’m pretty sure he needs no introduction, but just in case, he’s a left-field dance producer based in LA, self-proclaimed “lover and documentarian of all things trap music and 90s intelligent dance music” and, I’d like to add, the most hardcore Four Tet fan you’ll ever meet. He co-heads Tabula Rasa Records, a record company and a community that you need to know if you’re into “braindance” or IDM if you want to call it (preorder their new compilation here). You can also catch him sharing tons of interesting stuff on his Twitter, pretty much any day of the week. I was definitely expecting a more obscure selection from Ramon but these dancefloor-oriented picks left me utterly satisfied. Fun fact: there was a one-in-a-million chance and it still happened, originally we both included Falldren’s bootleg in our selection.

Flosstradamus – Total Recall (Falldren Flipped)

The original is so nostalgic for me. I was in a Siscord voice chat with Falldren a year ago and offhandedly said that someone needs to flip ‘Total Recall’ into hardwave and it would be a mainstage hit. He whipped this up in 2-3 hours and published it without thinking too hard about it. But, six months later, I was there live when RL Grime dropped it at Porter Robinson’s Second Sky Fest and when Skeler dropped it as his LA debut at Brownies & Lemonade. That’s every bootlegger’s dream. It’s so deserved – it’s a tidal wave of a track.

SBU – Deep Love

To match the majestic vibes of ‘Total Recall’ I needed to bring up a banger of the same magnitude. Staying in wave territories, the choice was easy. Freshly released just a month ago, SBU’s brutal flip of Calvin Harris and Disciple’s ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ has caused quite a turmoil within the scene. In particular, I heard it literally destroyed Pantheon‘s dancefloor back in December. In case you’re a nerd like me, the pre-drop vocals are from a breakout monologue included in the movie ‘Closer’.

Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan – Rumble (Kinoteki Footwork Jungle Edit)

The crew at Tabula Rasa Records are very good at blurring the line between cheekiness and sincerity. When the Rumble bootleg craze was going on, Kinoteki came out the gate with this beautiful Lone/Machinedrum-inspired melodic flip. I don’t know how serious they were when making this, but it doesn’t really matter – the way it rollercoasters is hypnotizing. I play it live a lot.

deadmau5 – strobe (dossyx edit w/ charlie)

Talking about bootleg crazes, Strobe is another masterpiece that received its massive dose of remixes, both official and unofficial. While I despise pretty much every version I run into so far, I have to say dossyx and Charlie have nailed the task. The mood couldn’t be more different than the original, but in the end the bouncy and crispy groove match very well the iconic melody. Kawaii bounce is probably the most fitting term to label this edit, will camoufly agree?
– A

O’Flynn – Cardi Tool

I’ve loved O’Flynn’s blissful breaks and percussion-driven house on Ninja Tune before, and had no idea he had a Cardi B remix. Good internet friend from the Four Tet fan discord (I own the server, obviously) shared this one day and it was an instant save. In my sets, it’s such a cheat code: 1) super blendable 2) super effective in my deeper underground sets, and 3) a real driver in my more mainstream-leaning ones.
– RP

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAXfXvNgHd0]

SoSick (KH version)

This one has been sitting on my PC for so long that I completely forgot how it got here. All I remember is that at a certain point (2018 or 2019 probably) Four Tet went wild on SoundCloud dropping a ton of unreleased material altogether. Why? I’ve no idea. I could do some research on my own, but since I have a living Four Tet-encyclopedia as the guest of this episode I thought it was more fun to ask him directly. Would you mind tweeting more info about this edit Ramon? Anyway, this is the perfect bootleg for those situations when the audience wants to sing along to some well know lyrics but you want to dance along to some classy groove.
– A

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8mt9H6gWGM]

Overmono – So U Kno (Villager Mix)

Villager turned Overmono’s biggest anthem into a bass-fueled monster. Like the ‘Cardi Tool’ one, it’s been effective in every set I’ve played it in. I think it really fits my modus operandi – I love tracks that take the best parts of traditional club-ready house/techno, then fuse it with energetic, traditional ‘EDM’ sounds in a restrained way. I think that translates into my music always.

Chris Lake & Green Velvet – Deceiver (Gaszia Edit)

It’s not that I DJ very often, but I swear that even I was getting tired of playing ‘Deceiver’. The original is a killer tune, nothing bad to say, but after rinsing it dozens of times I was desperately looking for an alternative version. I then turned to SoundCloud where I surprisingly found this edit by the one and only Gaszia. Way better than Chris Lake’s VIP.

TWRK – Living Room (Tielsie Remix)

Bit of a fringe pick here… this flip is almost 10 years old but it’s still one of my all-time favorites. On one hand, it sounds like a product of its time (2014), especially the clean 808 and the stereotypical trap/footwork drums. Listen to the original and then compare it to this flip’s take on its main melody… the way it’s chopped is so skillful and virtuosic.

Kanye West vs. Lucio Battisti – Love Lockdown (Nastro Rosa Edit)

This is one of my most secret guilty pleasures. I’m warning you, explaining it in words it won’t make any sense: it’s a mash-up between Kanye’s quintessential ‘Love Lockdown’ vocals and the instrumental of ‘Nastro Rosa’, a song by Lucio Battisti, one of the most beloved Italian singer-songwriter and composer of the 1970s. Genious idea, perfect realization, immaculate vibes.

Now, with their newest EP, Pre-Faze, Gaszia, and Sooski are back once again to invite listeners on an extraordinary adventure through the spectrum. Together with the help of Mona San, they’ve managed to create a highly innovative spirit within each piece. Harnessing energy like never before, and presenting a gorgeous work of art. Ready for any dance-infused environment around the world.

Having worked on a variety of projects, it made sense to showcase these initial collaborations as a pack. A totally natural process. I originally asked Gaszia to remix the original version of ‘Bite,’ and it was so insane that we just had to release it as its own single! ‘Ride’ was actually a song I quickly wrote in an hour or so as a part of a beatbite challenge on X&G’s channel (Kollaba was running this one). However, when it came to finishing it up, of course, I was going to call the best of the best to finesse. Similar to ‘Bite,’ this song oozes a sense of empowerment and sass. A fun way to express being fed up with the egoistic sense of entitlement that some people walk around with. ‘Slipping Away’ is a song I wrote before meeting Gaszia. I wrote it on a simple set of piano chords, recorded the final vocals, and held onto them until I found the right people to bring it to life with. Mona San and Gaszia understood the assignment, clearly! We all added our own touch to the soundscapes whilst creating a harmony throughout the track- it’s a special one to me! – Sooski

Pre-Faze is a wild three-track ride through the unknown. Showcasing signature techniques through hard-hitting rhythmic structures, euphoric vocal processing, and cinematic arrangements. Highlighting what makes these artists separate from many within the industry. Each track is purely unpredictable in the sense of vision, execution, and overall representation. Delivering a fresh new insight into the aura of dance music while staying true to its roots.

From hypnotic sound design and grooves throughout ‘Ride,’ to an angelic gate opening to a path towards new beginnings with ‘Slipping Away,’ the energy swirls through your body in such a comforting fashion. Inspiring many while fulfilling its main purpose. So make sure to show your support by streaming the Pre-Faze EP everywhere via KUMO Collective!

Gaszia‘s power is unlike any other. His creations have not only shaped a beautiful road to success but have also pushed electronic music in the right direction. Molding god-tier melodies together with futuristic arrangements while paying homage to genres that have paved the way for dance music shines a bright light on his contribution to the industry and impresses listeners and peers everywhere. His workflow compliments every aspect of his own being: Passion, determination, and adoration for the arts.

As for Sooski, her everlasting vocals mixed with soothing production skills completely heighten her overall vision to the next level. From a deep love for synthesizers to creating timeless lyrics, her talents and striving for riches are truly inspiring. And you can easily hear the passion run through your own hearts from her personal work. She’s also worked with artists such as ASTRØWILK and Voyager, giving their tracks the gifts of elegance and priceless tones. And the fact Gaszia and her teamed up is nothing but exhilarating, resulting in a special and spine-chilling creation.

This song celebrates women’s power in relationships. The words are merely having fun with the concept of a woman’s ability to exert influence, reminding men that although she can be the “dream girl” or the “good wife”, she will not change herself for any man as she is real and untamed, nor will she dim her light in order for men to feel better about themselves. This character oozes confidence and grace. She warns men in a sassy way, not to feel irreplaceable, as she believes that it’s her bliss, brains and elegance which makes her relationships special. And she can recreate something just as special with the next man, because she’s the one holding the key to desire, passion and romance! She is everything a man can dream of, but do not test her!Sooski

‘Bite’ is a cyber-infused masterpiece that makes you fall into a vast space of dreams and gentle frequencies and showcases how powerful their teamwork is. Right in the beginning, we hear both of their styles take the spotlight. Gaszia’s cinematic environment compliments Sooski’s vocals incredibly, immediately hitting your brainwaves in a nurturing fashion, preparing you for what’s to come.

Not to mention how powerful the lyrics are. They wrap around you like a silk scarf of protection. And as the track builds and builds, you’re preparing for greatness to unfold in a way you’ve never experienced. The first chorus is a fast-paced and hard-hitting blast of energy. The airy lead working with well-crafted drums grips your attention to the fullest. And chopping up her vocals was a genius way to add even more flavor to this endless dish.

After, they introduce a breakdown carrying a similar state of airiness and hypnotic emotions throughout. As if you were falling deeper and deeper into their spell. The garage-style beat pattern really helps the track flow in an organic way, carrying us to the grand finale. And once the final drop introduces itself, you’ll be swept off your feet with grace. The impactful drums working hand in hand with a stunning melodic lead completely take you off guard, making you become fully in line with their creative abilities. Creating an overall journey you’ll remember for a lifetime. Bravo to both of them.

I think when you collab it’s really hard to mesh with the other artist sometimes in terms of meshing sounds/ideas. With Sooski we’ve been chatting for some time now and really getting in sync with each other and I think being on that same page can really help the process come together well. This is the first of our collaborations and I’m excited to see how the process develops in future ones Gaszia

I’ve been working with Gaszia on some tracks here and there for some time, since the beginning of the pandemic actually. I wrote and produced the original version of “Bite” and Gaszia kindly agreed to do a remix. When I heard it I was blown away, it sounded so different to the original and definitely more aligned with our upcoming projects. So it made sense to drop it as a single, as it’s a hint of what’s to come! Sooski

Gaszia. An artist who knows no boundaries. A musician whose pure goal is to spread unique and powerful music across the planet. And with the help of his flexible and high quality skills, he continues to amaze listeners by not only being apart of the X&G project, but on his own account as well. His intricate sound design mixed together with multi-genre explorations has created some of the best far-out electronic music today. And to help bring his own vision to the spotlight even further, it’s our pleasure to assist him on premiering his newest single, ‘ApexClub’ via KUMO Collective!

The club-based guru has always shown a truly different side of music. We highly recommend checking out his discography of gold. If you love club-inspired art, he’s got it. If you’re a die-hard trap lover, he’ll accommodate to that as well. Gaszia has proven time and time again how diverse his raw talent is. Reading his listeners perfectly while still being able to create what he wants. Truly inspiring to say the least. From flips of Chris Lake and Justin Bieber, to trippy adventures through self-releases, there’s nothing this artist can’t accomplish in his own style. And with this newest work of art, he’s taking his own passions to higher levels!

“This was actually a demo originally made for the Baauer Bop Battle series that was hosted during quarantine. I really wanna shout out that whole community because through there I really felt like I discovered myself and my confidence in making music. I suffered from imposter syndrome for a long time with X&G and being able to make ideas I was happy with and others enjoyed too gave me confidence in myself once again.”
– Gaszia

‘ApexClub’ is an interstellar journey through time itself. Creating unforgettable memories with every second. The icon really put in everything he’s got into this piece. His classic and signature club flare sparks up into a complete fire tornado. Swirling around the crowd itself and ending up into a frenzy for his work. If you’ve been following him for a while now, you’ll feel right at home and impressed at the same time. The evolution throughout the years is clearly shown through each characteristic.

From tribalistic drums, industrial atmosphere and overall arrangement, it’s extremely tough to find a single flaw. The production is crisp, the melodies are angelic, and overall, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any music lover. Just when you think it’s over, he throws in another shining twist to keep the party moving to new territories. We’re very excited to see where this legend goes next. So make sure to go support his passion by streaming ‘ApexClub’ everywhere via KUMO Collective!
