Spiraling towards the center of the Earth, Bassrush return with their latest installment of a series which puts only the nastiest up and coming bass musicians on a pedestal. They call it, The Prophecy: Volume 4. And with great success and attention to their other chapters, the label continues to impress and amaze the audience with mind-bending new musicians to take the spotlight. From hard-hitting arrangements, to jaw-dropping sound design, these artists are not to be messed with within the spectrum.

Musicians such as TWERL, Cyclops, Slang Dogs and more have all created individual works of art to honor the label itself as well as their own talents. It’s to no surprise that we’d see such high-thinking souls on this lineup. They’ve pushed the underground bass scene to its highest stature. Exposing many to the true future of electronic music. So prepare to have your heart stopped and brought back to life with this gorgeous new ten-track adventure.

The Prophecy: Volume 4 honors the past, present, and overall future of the label and its artists. Each track is its own spirit and lifeline. The amount of filth and talent oozing from these legends is truly impressive and unthinkable. Insidious atmospheres, exhilarating bass leads, you name it. This whole compilation is chocked full of disgusting gems to admire and cherish for a lifetime. Letting everyone know who’s on the true come up. From a trap masterpiece from TWERL and Avance, to a classic Riddim heater from Cromatik and Cyclops, you won’t even know what’s next due to their unique skills and surprises. Each track has its own story to tell in a violent fashion. Perfect for any bass head ready for those brand new and intellectual tracks. The Bassrush label did a fantastic job recruiting these beautiful artists. They all deserve high praise for their hard work. So make sure to go support them all by streaming The Prophecy: Volume 4 everywhere!

Debilitating scores of fans whose musical tastes lie right on the border of dubstep and trap, Los Angeles’s Cristian Aguilar, also known as Gawm, finds a happy and wholeheartedly heavy middle ground. With his tracks gaining major recognition and support from some of the biggest in the bass business like Skrillex and Excision, it’s no wonder he’s caught the eyes of a steadily-increasing number of audible aficionados. This year he’s had triumphant releases on some of the most legendary and progressive labels in the game like Dim Mak, Barong Family, Subsidia, Bassweight Records, and 40 Oz Cult, just to name a few. With all this attention placed squarely on his devasting discography, it was no wonder that Protohype tapped him to release on his newly minted Underdog Records label as part of their inaugural The Pack compilation album, and we’ve had the great pleasure of premiering his track ‘Radiation’ from it for your listening pleasure right here on FUXWITHIT.

For those familiar with Gawm’s already trademarked style, gratuitous grit has practically become a mainstay. Wildly wheeling-and-dealing supremely scintillating pieces like they’re going out of style, this California native shows no concern for human life as he eviscerates his listeners with grandiosely gross concoctions. ‘Radiation’ is no different, as the initial basslines in each drop sound like an organ straight out of hell, featuring thick, elongated notes that turn bones to dust before smacking all in the vicinity with Gawm’s trademarked hybrid trap synths. Mind-bending, malevolent, and all-around menacing, this is a piece that will surely raise eyebrows (if it hadn’t already blown them off.) Is that siren wailing in the background a warning that a nuclear explosion just occurred? Or a welcome alert that this young artist just dropped another heater? We’re personally leaning more towards the latter, but don’t take our word for it, check out ‘Radiation’ from The Pack a day early for yourselves below!

Garnering support from some of the top taste-makers in the entire industry in the form of Excision and Skrillex, his style has intrigued even true masters of their craft. With the amount of hype following this young, gifted artist, we thought it would only be fitting to have him on as the 114th edition of our guest mix and interview series. Serving up some of the hottest unreleased tunes we’ve heard in quite some time, this mix is assuredly not for the faint of heart. Check out the full interview and mix for yourself below!

Which came first for you: Musical talent or the desire to be a DJ?

DJ first, but that was only because I wanted to become a radio DJ .

I see you live in LA! I’ve heard the music scene is pretty wild out there, would you care to talk about what it’s like?

It all depends where you go to be honest. My favorite club to go to is Academy Los Angeles. The lighting and overall vibes in there are wild. Plus you’ll never know what big artist might show up.

How’s quarantine been treating you? Staying sane amid all the chaos in the world right now?

At this point since we’ve been on lockdown for so long it’s getting to me. It’s hard to keep the motivation and consistency going, but I’m really putting in the work and making a lot of dope tunes. Having a regular job was giving me the structure to put a lot of time and work into my craft. It’s hard to get in the groove without that structure.

Nothing will beat that love I have for the music and live entertainment.

What was the first festival you ever attended, and what’s your favorite memory from it?

EDC 2009 was my first festival. My favorite memory from that night was shuffling inside a big circle with a couple of my high school friends. Nothing will beat that love I have for the music and live entertainment.

You recently tweeted that the Bloody Beetroots were the first group to really get you into EDM. What song in particular from them really grabbed your attention, and what about the music in general set it apart from what you had experienced previously?

‘Warp 1.9’ ft Steve Aoki is one of my all time favorites. That song is so intense, there’s no way you’re not dancing or ragging to that. It’s just a unique tune that I think really started a movement with having that rock/screamo crossover we see a lot in electronic music today.

Tell us about the guest mix you prepared for us today!

All I can say is there’s a lot of heavy IDs from myself and a couple friends. I’m sitting on so much music right now and I can’t wait to get it out. I wanted to dedicate this mix to show the listeners a little bit of what they’re gonna get from me this summer.

…wrapping up my second EP of the year that will be coming out in early August. I also have a handful of collabs with some of my close producer friends in the works. It’s gonna be a heavy summer.

When can we expect more new music from you?

I’m gonna be releasing some official remixes for some of my favorite artists pretty soon. I’m also wrapping up my second EP of the year that will be coming out in early August. I also have a handful of collabs with some of my close producer friends in the works. It’s gonna be a heavy summer.

Are you playing any upcoming live streams?

Yes, I will be playing another live stream sometime this week. The homie Dack Janiels invited me out to play a b2b set with the boy HAMI for a 40oz takeover. So that should be really fun and exciting to look forward to!

In the last year he’s had immensely successful releases in the form of a remix for RL Grime and Juelz’s ‘Formula‘, ‘Undead‘ with Dessigner Toys that we had the pleasure of premiering, and a massive remix of Space Lace’s ‘DAW.’ Garnering roughly 130,000 streams on SoundCloud alone from just those tracks, and getting his music played out by some of the biggest names in the community, Gawm only has total domination at the forefront of his mind. Now, he plans to expand even further on his sonic campaign, this time in the form of his debut EP The Resurrection, a sure-fire one-way ticket to a prime ruckus.

‘Lamia’ opens up the crypt that is The Resurrection, a fitting introduction into the lethal air wiggles that inhabit this body of work. Sporting an exceedingly aggressive aesthetic with pounding drums and smacking snares, this is an adrenaline pumping thrill-ride from start to finish. The first drop is thick, crunchy, and down-right filthy. The Resurrection is a fitting title for the EP, because this track will have corpses snapping their necks whipping them around in the direction of this piece. ‘Lamia’ gains its name from a mythological monster of old, said to prey on human beings and suck the blood of little children. Lock your doors and hide your children, Gawm has nothing but evil intentions with this one.

Gawm joins forces with one of the most forward-thinking trap+bass producers in the game right now in the form of Runnit. Their tag team effort, ‘Break Em,’ aims to body every able-bodied person in sight, while moving and grooving along the way. Featuring an immensely joyful amount of bounce for a piece with diabolical undertones, you’ll be bopping around with a devious grin firmly plastered on your grill. The final drop will have you dropping faster than the stock market right now, with the hips gaining major emphasis.

If you ever wondered what a pissed-off cybernetic entity from the future sounded like, look no further than ‘Dexter.’ Sounding like a robot that didn’t get his nightly oil fix and is in one hell of a mood, you’ll be left swaying back and forth like a metronome, completely entranced by the morbid digital master. Equal parts grimy and immaculately clean, it’s a true dessert for the ears. If there’s one question to ask this poor robot, it’s “who hurt you?”

Rounding out the EP is ‘Nephilim,’ a collaboration of titanic proportions with an artist that is no stranger to disgusting products, Foreign Suspects. What comes forth from their collective creative minds is the equivalent of an anti-aircraft super gun shooting down targets in the sky. Featuring thick, deep bass lines and brutal, crashing highs, you’ll be left fully crippled by the end. The latter drop is even more wild, taking the already level 10 of aggression and turning up to 12, completely skipping 11. The switch-ups are precise, deadly, and successfully expand on each added accent introduced beforehand, always keeping you on your metaphorical toes.

The Resurrection is one hell of a debut EP for Gawm, and expertly showcases his already honed-in trademark sound and the artistic expansion he’s had in the past 12 months. This is a fantastic body of work from start to finish, and a must-rinse for fans of the spicy heavy shit. Make sure to check out the EP in full below!

The last year has been one of nonstop growth for Los Angeles based Kris Rod, the mastermind behind some of the heaviest trap releases of the past year under his production persona GAWM. Releasing ‘Bowser’ to critical acclaim a mere nine months ago, he’s put out devastating single after single, absolutely demolishing every speaker that comes in his path. Now, he’s teamed up DESSIGNER TOYS, to bring fans a track that practices sonic necromancy.

Rinsing ‘Undead’ is the audio equivalent of gangster walking through a graveyard, except you’ll revel in the dirt on your shoulders this time. The opening creates this air of mystery using light horns in the background mixed with zombie-esque noises, drawing the listener further into the diabolical filth that is about to grace their ears. A mad scientist loudly exclaims “It’s alive,” right before the build, a sense of unease crawling up the audience’s spine. The initial drop has the classic GAWM style, incorporating gritty, harsh, mechanical sounds with satisfyingly rich, deep kicks. A short build then begins as the drop peters-out, leading to another cascade of bass that uses longer-lasting notes, trading-off a kiddie pool of depth for a head-first dive into an ocean of low end. The last drop uses the notes from the first, but switches up the arrangement to afford a fresh pacing, slowing things down and making the impact of the notes last just a tad longer.

To say that this track goes hard would be a vast understatement, as fans of heavy trap music should be instantly enthralled after a first listen. If these two artists weren’t on your radar, they should be a massive blip on the screen after this release, with style and energy being in no short supply. 2019 was a year major successes for both artists, keep your ears peeled for what they have on the horizon. For now, check out ‘Undead’ for yourself below!
