Macklemore Talks to HOT97 About His Grammy Win and Kendrick

What a night for music. The 56th Grammy Awards were in full swing, but before the live event began airing, the winner for Best Rap Album had already been announced. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took home 4 gold trophies last night, including one for Best Rap Album. This morning, Macklemore called into HOT97 to talk to Rosenberg and Ebro about winning and robbing the Grammy for Best Rap Album from Kendrick. The fact of the matter is that good kid, m.A.A.d. city should have won for Best Rap Album. At the same time, Macklmore and Ryan Lewis winning the Grammy’s they did, is a serious testament to hard work and dedication for independent artists worldwide. Congrats on the win guys!

Beyonce and Jay Z Perform “Drunk In Love” at the 56th Grammy Awards

Queen Bey and King Hov opened the 56th Grammy Awards with their smash “Drunk In Love” off of the surprise self-titled album Beyonce released this past December. Beyonce went to sell close to 800,000 units in the first week of the surprise albums release, another testament to Hov’s #newrules. Check out the video below if you missed it last night. Hov wins at life.

Kendrick Lamar: GRAMMYs Best New Artist Nominee – Day In The Life

You know Kendrick? The rapper from Compton that flipped the game upside down when he dropped his masterfully crafted good kid, m.A.A.d. city? Yea, fam. That Kendrick. Easily one of the best rappers out now, and definitely one trending to go down as one of the best of all time, he’s been nominated for a Grammy. As a part of The GRAMMY’s nominee web series, Kendrick sat down with the GRAMMY’s to talk about his journey and how it feels to be where he is now. He goes on to talk about how his music was his claim to fame, “that’s how I remain focused on my art, knowing it wasn’t the hype, it wasn’t the press, it wasn’t a publicity stunt, it was the music, from day 1, so I have to remember that. No sleep, more work, you know, but it’s my passion”. Kendrick is up for 7 GRAMMY nominations including, Album of the Year and Best New Artist. We’re hoping he takes both. Peep the interview below.
