Graphyt was the dark horse of Never Say Die: Black Label in 2019. From the riveting ‘Evolution‘ to the Colossus EP and a few other contributions to the esteemed label and beyond, the French artist established himself as a mainstay in the heavy bass scene through consistently mesmerizing pieces. Picking up right where he left off, Graphyt returns to the Black Label later this week with his Outer Space EP, and we have the honour of premiering the eclectic ‘Frequency Shifter’ alongside PIERCE ahead of the full release.

“I was watching PIERCE in a livestream one time and I was thinking ‘damn, he’s really good.’ So, I wrote a comment to him and he directly replied to me. After that we just got to talking and eventually decided to launch a collaboration,” Graphyt states about how he and PIERCE first started working together. “He started the track off, using the idea of creating all of the sound design with an effect called ‘frequency shifter.’ The first synths came out sounding really sick, so I decided to continue the idea and worked my sound design mostly with the frequency shifter – hence the name of the track,” the French producer adds.

‘Frequency Shifter’ is a harmonic display of Graphyt and PIERCE’s undeniable chemistry. The introduction captivates your intrigue with its ominous aura and catchy samples, before the track is quickly catapulted into pure dubstep insanity. Not too complex with its ideas yet perfect with its execution, the bass-heavy sections are sure to crack your neck. Keeping things fresh as the track progresses, PIERCE’s influence comes to light through the trap-leaning percussion layered below the dominating synths.

Don’t miss Graphyt and PIERCE’s ‘Frequency Shifter’ below and stay tuned for the rest of the Outer Space EP, out tomorrow.

Graphyt‘s ‘Rise Of The Machines‘ in the recent Black Label XL 6 compilation was the undeniable opus of the set of tracks. As the longest and arguable most intricate, tension-building piece, Graphyt displayed a new side to his already impressive set of production skills. Continuing to build on this momentum, the flying Frenchman is back on Never Say Die: Black Label with the four track Colossus EP that is sure to put him on the radar of many.

Leading off the project is the orchestral, grandiose ‘The Awakening’ that sets the scene for the epic work ahead. The contrast between the monumental sounds and impeccable, trap-infused grittiness in this opening piece will have you both questioning why it landed on Black Label and understanding why it’s such a great fit. ‘Colossus’ follows, with Graphyt further showcasing his magnificent introduction-building capabilities before unleashing chaos with his pristine, headbang-inducing sound design. Again drawing influence from trap in the opening of ‘Surrounded By Fire,’ all sense of familiarity of the genre is lost when the drop hits as the French bass heavyweight delivers repeated knockout-worthy punches. Don’t even get us started with the second half of this gargantuan heater. Capping it off as strong as it started, ‘From The Depths’ will again leave you in awe of Graphyt’s masterful production.

“Dubstep scene getting stale? Not on Graphyt’s watch.” Check out the Colossus EP below!

A noteworthy constituent of France’s bolstering dubstep scene, Graphyt has expertly navigated a thrilling hybrid-bass style that incorporates playful minimalistic introductions, as a tribute to the earliest upbringings of UK-dubstep, which grow effortlessly into massive builds that break cleanly into barrages of sonic frequencies.

Dual-wielding lethal volumes of bass, Graphyt’s latest two-track release simulates an exhausting audible altercation. Disguised by a glowing synth melody, a gripping bass undertone slowly seeps into the introduction of ‘Upside Down’. A momentary break exposes a furious digital cadence, which grows amid dominant drums before heaving into an outright invasion of bass.

An abrupt riser unleashes a relentless, grungy bassline leaving no time to spare as ‘Smashing’ begins to take shape. Aptly placed beat breaks provide a choppy tempo, which Grapyht contrasts ingeniously with an insatiable synth pattern and deafening horns. A piercing build begins to materialize as a well-timed sample intensifies the energy of the track to a peak, launching into tumultuous ripples of bass.

Flaunting the dexterity of his sound, Graphyt’s latest two-part saga further reveals the complexity and expertise of his production capability. Utilizing riveting synths and upbeat drums to build an impassioned preamble, ‘Upside Down’ takes a lethal turn as catastrophic walls of resonating frequencies rain down, while ‘Smashing’ wastes not a moment getting right down to business.

With three gnarly EPs already under his belt, it never comes as a surprise to see the talented Frenchman unleash some bass-heavy madness on the imprint. Today, Graphyt is back to kick off his year in high gear in the form of a single titled ‘Evolution’, and boy will it make you sweat. An eerie soundscape kicks off the track, before being accompanied by a poignant guitar loop and a haunting vocal sample to induce goosebumps from the get-go. A rapid change in pace brings about a catchy build-up before Graphyt shows everyone that he’s not playing around. Flexing his usual impeccable sound design, ‘Evolution’ quickly becomes a bass head anthem, with raspy growls and ear-shattering synths shining at the forefront of the drop. The switch up is perhaps the most engaging section, as Graphyt seamlessly blends two distinct portions into one cohesive drop.

‘Evolution’ is the perfect track for any dubstep fan. Don’t miss it below.
