On the latest treat from CloZee‘s label, Odyzey Music, jordnmoody‘s FØRSAKEN EP brings listeners a taste of sultry basslines and rolling drumbeats that are perfect for October’s Halloween aesthetic. A familiar face to FUXWITHIT who’s made waves in the freeform bass scene with releases on Wakaan, Cyclops Recordings, Bassrush, Jadū Dala, and others, jordnmoody has once again hit the jackpot with this malevolent masterpiece.

“It’s a madness, I been trappin’, I seen action,” Pete English’s voice echoes on the first track. A devilish tune rooted in UK dubstep, ‘ACT!ØN’ fills the room with a sinister air. A slight synth wobble, pervasive underneath Pete English’s voice throughout, is at once both sensual and spine-chilling. The slow swing of the percussion in ‘DREAMSCAPE’ is like a wade through sonic murk, interspersed with an angelic vocal gently resonating through the background haze. The namesake track of the EP then comes out swinging with a wave of phantasmagorical sub-bass. The absolute frisson of ‘FØRSAKEN’ will leave your ears quivering with pleasure. As an extra-special treat, jordnmoody has graced the EP with a downtempo VIP of his bass-house banger ‘VOICES.’ An eerie, nightmarish, haze veils the slowed-down final track. This is proper Halloween music.

It doesn’t feel like Halloween season until RL Grime comes through with his annual installment of his Halloween mix series. For Halloween VI Grime does it as big as ever. From vocal drops from Tony Hawk and R.L. Stein to a slew of signature originals, fresh edits (Danny Brown x Sophie!?), unreleased heat and under the radar slappers. Expectations are always high but RL always finds a way to deliver. He’s got ignorant rap for the OG fans, massive hits for the casual ones (‘Bodak Yellow,’ ‘Rockstar’) and pretty much anything else you could ask for. Happy Halloween!
