bitbird‘s community as a whole has always shown true heart and passion for the arts. From their extremely talented roster of artists to their listeners, everyone has a part to play. And it’s thanks to their whole movement they’ve become such a powerful force within the industry. Always innovating and evolving with their members. create together vol. 3 not only honors their whole group but also showcases a bright future for their label and upcoming artists. Changing the game once again with brand new talent, techniques, and sound. Creating a peaceful and mystical home for all to discover and call their own.

Inspired by their signature motto, ‘create forever,’ the label’s fans took the step of creating the bitbird discord channel where all are welcome to connect with each other creatively and spiritually. It was then in 2019, the community started to promote the ‘create together month.’ A one-month challenge where young up-and-coming artists worked together as one to inspire and push each other to evolve. After sending what they’ve created to the bitbird label, ‘create together vol. 1’ was born. From then on, they’ve managed to continue the series where more and more musicians rose to the challenge. Putting themselves on the map while empowering others to do the same. From having only 10 tracks from vol. 1, to a grand number of 25 tracks created by 41 artists on today’s vol. 3, it’s truly inspiring and heartfelt to see and hear how much everyone has grown.

Just like the other compilations, the birth of ‘create together vol. 3’ was held in their discord channel. The activities consisted of a full schedule of masterclasses hosted by the bitbird alumni. Artists such as San Holo, Pauline Herr, Tails, and Dot all participated to share their own knowledge and experiences to inspire the upcoming legends. Even Hein Hammers (previously a part of DROELOE) did a class on visual art creation! With the support of Twitch, Ableton, FL Studio, Auto-Tune, iZotope, and more, they provided everyone with educational resources and discounts on software and hardware. Making the process even more enriching and fulfilling to participate in.

“It’s incredible to see how every year the community pushes itself further and shows what it’s capable of. Even more than previous years, we have seen collaborations pop up! This shows again how music even in such a polarising world is able to connect people! Music is love, and we love music. create together.” – Thorwald van den Akker, bitbird’s creative director

create together vol. 3 is filled with non-stop action, emotion, and happiness. Bringing incredible atmospheres, peaceful melodies, and groovy rhythms to your ears. Gracefully dancing around your hearts and souls while leaving a sense of fulfillment to the highest degree. Powerful drums creations, cinematic environments, and of course some far-out sound design are what you’ll find within. Taking listeners by the hand and opening the eyes of many to what’s to come from these brand new and passionate souls. Artists such as THREESIXTY, Scro, and Alva Gracia make a stunning debut with the team with their star-striking pieces. While returning musicians such as So Sus, Byegone, and more continue to nurture your hearts thanks to innovative abilities and visions within their arrangements.

All in all, it’s a journey worth experiencing for yourself no matter where you are. Inspiring many to continue to create and to be themselves. So make sure to go show your support by streaming create together vol. 3 everywhere via bitbird!

If Hendrik Joerges is not on your radar yet, that needs to change now. The talented artist has been a solid force in the realm of future bass and beyond over the last few years and he is looking to break beyond the SoundCloud barrier soon. Sure to help with this recognition is his Prolifery EP out tomorrow on KUMO Collective, where a collection of four pristine tracks first teased in his recent FUXWITHIT guest mix exceed all expectations. Ahead of its release, we are ecstatic to premiere the incredibly enthralling ‘Hang Time’ alongside Rhys Fataar.

“The Prolifery EP for me is symbol of rapid growth into different fields. I take my music very seriously and I want to show the world that I’m here to stay. Hopefully I’ve done this successfully with this EP, incorporating all the different styles of music that I enjoy to produce. ‘Hang Time’ is a lovely journey of smooth, ambient and dream like melodies moving in and out of hard, experimental bass climaxes. I think it really does the job at portraying where I am at mentally right now. Trying to find the balance between relaxation and panic, but always falling short slightly,” Hendrik states about how ‘Hang Time’ fits into the complex narrative of his project.

Capturing this indecision and battle between good and evil to a tee, Hendrik Joerges uses Rhys Fataar’s serene vocals to create a relaxing, peace-inducing aura in the opening moments of the track. As ‘Hang Time’ builds towards its climax, chaos begins to invade your senses as an intense melodic section takes over. Seamless transitions between vocal-driven segments, crisp future bass and energetic drum and bass make the track flow smoothly from start to finish, a true testament to the South African’s impressive evolution as a multi-talented artist.

When asked about how he connected with Rhys, Hendrik Joerges states, “Rhys and I have known each other for a little under 10 years. I always knew he was talented in terms of production, but when I heard his songwriting and singing, I knew I had to feature him on a track eventually. When I wrote the dreamy melody of the track and put the RnB beat down for the verses, I knew that he would fit perfectly for the track.” The chemistry is truly undeniable in ‘Hang Time.’ Don’t miss it below.

Vancouver based producer So Sus has been a staple on FUXWITHIT for the past two years. With four premieres and a guest mix + interview, it’s no secret that we’re fans of his work. Adding to the collection comes the premiere of his incredible new EP Voices. The project is the perfect balance of bass-heavy electronic music and emotional appeal. “I think the EP has to do with love in someway or another, whether it’s the loss of it, the early stages of it. I know it’s a big theme in my life. I really just want people to feel something. These songs are def not the hardest songs I’ve ever made but I just wanted to focus on emotion,” So Sus tells us. Voices delivers plenty of feels but definitely does not lack a punch in the production department.

The four track effort sees So Sus connecting with a different artist for each track. Kicking off with ‘Stars In Your Eyes,’ Akacia pulls us in with breathy vocals and a sultry sound. The drops exude a fresh future bass feel that’s uplifting and engrossing. Collaborating on ‘Cold Waters’ with Bouhi, the song takes its lead from the title; free-flowing with some icy undertones. The vocals are captivating and the first drop cuts deep with a chilling sharpness. Building upon this foundation, the track’s second half crescendos into an elevated air. ‘Code (Me & U)’ is a powerful standout that includes a strong vocal performance from South African Hendrik Joerges. Opening with flowing water and a near spiritual undertone, Hendrik’s vocals, “haven’t drank but I feel wasted, all my thoughts on the pavement” hit hard with a feeling of longing. The drops are the most agressive on the project and provide the perfect level of intensity that’s counterbalanced by the opening and breaks. Closing things out is ‘Fill Up My Heart’ with INJA. It’s a slow burner with a soulful core that heats up and cools, expertly building tension and releasing it for an eventful finale.

Voices proves that So Sus’ talent continues to expand with time. The project finds the perfect midway point between original bass music and moving songwriting. Stream the full EP below and grab it via Westwood X.

Frequently tapping his inner vocalist, the Durban-based producer is making waves with a distinct take on future bass that is equally chaotic as it is calculated and enchanting. Hot off the emotive ‘Running From You‘, we are stoked to premiere his latest masterpiece titled ‘Stressed’ alongside Pretoria-based rapper 17AD.

“Him and I linked up when he was in Durban to work on some stuff. The first version of the track was purely hip hop, but I wasn’t quite happy with it so I flipped it on its head and turned it into a hip hop/melodic trap/drum & bass hybrid,” Joerges tells us about working with 17AD. Quite interestingly, ‘Stressed’ is exactly as the South African producer describes it: a conglomeration of multiple genres coming together to form one cohesive banger.

“The track both lyrically and instrumentally explains a built up stress and anxiety that a lot of people face when they step into the real world and try to establish themselves. I’ve found my early twenties daunting, trying to juggle my music, a day job and 3rd year university while at the same time trying to maintain a social life and build a ‘brand’ on my social media. 17AD’s verses quite accurately describes the quarter life crisis that many people experience, ‘leaving the nest’ figuratively, stepping away from one’s taught beliefs and values and learning new ones, worrying about the inevitability of one’s parents’ (and our own) demise.” This message is layered above crisp instrumentals highlighting Hendrik Joerges’ pristine production abilities without undermining the powerful 17AD vocals.

“My pre-chorus is fairly straightforward, describing anxiety and the pre-burnout stage of trying to do everything at once. I hope people can relate to these lyrics and maybe the song can serve to them as a ‘helping hand’ of sorts in their daily lives, knowing that they aren’t the only ones going through existential troubles,” Joerges elaborates. Superimposed with deep meaning, ‘Stressed’ is an emotional roller coaster of a track, as the conflicted artist quickly catapults the lyrical section into a high-energy bop. The peaks and troughs in intensity paired with the various musical elements perfectly capture the essence of being stressed. Check it out below!
