Hoodboi Returns With Club Epic ‘Black Money’

Hoodboi is back! After some serious time off, Hoodboi has finally blessed fans with a new track. ‘Black Money’ sees him sampling Sage The Gemini’s ‘Gas Pedal’ and Teriyaki Boy’s ‘Tokyo Drift’. The two tracks are snipped, chopped and looped with original production for a sound that bridges the gap between his early club remix days and his more recent original soundscapes. The midway breakdown gives ‘Black Money’ an emotionally stirring virtue with wordly undertones. This provides the perfect contrast for the hypnotizing loops, gritty chops and gun clicks. San Diego Monster Bash Is Bringing Meaux Green, Hoodboi, Just Blaze & Too Short Together For Epic Block Party

Figuring out plans for Halloween can be a nightmare, thankfully if you’re in San Diego, it doesn’t have to be. On October 29th, Monster Bash is set to take over the Gaslamp Quarter and East Village in Downtown San Diego. The event promises a stellar line-up with standout acts such as Meaux Green, Hoodboi, Just Blaze, Vicetone, Will Sparks, Too $hort and more. With over 20 acts and five themed stages, there’s something to please everyone. The Doll House stage brings together broken toys, haunting females and you guessed it, a serious helping of dolls. Wicked Whitelands is like a trip north of the wall; an all white ambiance with icy shadows. Scary Tales is your favourite children’s fairy tale turned inside out, while Dia De Los Muertos brings Day Of The Dead to life. Rounding things out comes the 90’s horror house, a special VIP haunt with Too $hort to take you back to 90’s.

Don’t forget to dress up, as they’re also hosting a costume contest with a $5000 cash prize (better get started on that costume now). Tickets start at $50 but prices will increase as the date approaches. The event runs from six till midnight, but for those looking to extend their fun, there’s an official after-party hosted by non-other than Too $hort. Athletixx Drop Debut Single ‘PNTHR’

Back in 2014, Promnite, Hoodboi, Falcons and Kittens linked up to form a supergroup group known as Athletixx. Although the All-Stars Mixtape built some serious hype, they’ve remained relatively quiet on the group front (they’ve been killing it on the solo tip). The lack of material has left fans salivating to hear some original tunes from the group. Finally the wait is over as they unleash ‘PNTHR’. The track is a vicious club anthem made up of drunken and hypnotizing synths, ferocious kicks and some crazy wildlife samples. It’s a hard-hitting bonanza of sounds that bridges the gap between the Amazon and LA’s underground. Stream the track below and grab that free download.

Hoodboi – Palm Reader EP

Earlier this month we posted the title track off Hoodboi’s debut EP Palm Reader. Now the project has finally arrived and it’s stunning; an imaginative blend of future bass and Jersey club for a sound that is distinctly Hoodboi. ‘Dusk (Prologue)’ is an ethereal, slow building introduction that perfectly sets the stage and a fluidly transitions into ‘Palm Reader’. The Lido assisted track is a ray of sunshine featuring pitched vocal samples, massive synths and wonky bass. ‘By Your Side’ features a smooth bounce, infectious vocals and the strongest Jersey influence on the whole project. Closing things off is ‘Shallow’. Downbeat keys open things up and slow snaps create a laidback feel. The vibe is short lived as the track builds and hits you with synth stabs layered on heavy bass kicks. The track drifts from mellow to intense, and from cheery to dark in a style reminiscent of Cashmere Cat. Palm Reader demonstrates Hoodboi’s growth as an artist and sees the LA native truly finding his own sound. Stream the EP below and cop it on iTunes.

We’ve been fans and supporters of Hoodboi since he was DJ Hoodboi and was rocking that wild black mask. So it’s with great pleasure that we announce his debut EP is set to drop later this month (March 24th) on Fool’s Gold. Hoodboi – Christmas in Jersey

Hoodboi is the latest artist to bless fans with free music for Christmas. The LA based producer just unleashed a Bootleg EP entitled ‘Chistmas in Jersey’. The EP contains remixes of Dj Khaled’s – ‘Hold You Down (ft. Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future, Jeremih)’, Trey Songz – ‘Disrespectful (ft. Mila J)’ and Jhené Aiko – ‘The Worst’.
