If there ever was voice for deep house it’s Idiris Elba’s but that’s not even the most thrilling part of ‘Know Yourself’. Robinson keeps things light and fresh with slinky synths, while folding rumbling, ambient bass lines, and energetic tension through each drop. Do not be mistaken: there are plenty other tidbits of bliss such as the expert layering of sounds opening the track, the plucky, melodic synths, and each breathy build up to Elba’s plore, “What you need to do is know yourself,” all to the rhythm of a bouncy, house beat. It has a taste of the times, since everyone has been spending a little more time getting to know themselves.
