As an artist who has been on our radar for almost two years, IKYGUY has continuously impressed with his ability to create a wide array of genres and styles. Although releases are often few and far between, two certainties with IKYGUY tracks are top-tier quality and no lack of ingenuity. Now, the Toronto-based artist returns with another one of his impressive rewrites, this time tackling Eliminate‘s ‘You’re Gonna Love Me.’

The original is an emotional trap banger riddled with quintessential Eliminate sounds, using Leah Culver’s vocals to drive passion. IKYGUY takes these vocals and layers them above a whole new instrumental, beginning with euphoric soundscapes in the introduction before transitioning into a bass brute. This remix has more oomph in its drops than the original, with grungy basses and crisp percussion coming together to create a wicked flow. The second half of the rewrite is equally as enthralling, as IKYGUY keeps listeners hooked until the very end. Don’t miss it below.

Toronto-based IKYGUY has tapped this underlying gritty undertone and exploited it to new limits, creating an emotional yet bass-driven rework.

The only elements left intact from the original are EZI’s poignant vocals, driving the introduction gradually to a climax of energy. As the minute-mark hits, all musical familiarity with Graves’ piece is lost, as IKYGUY unleashes rugged bass in a melodic dubstep-leaning drop. Keeping listeners on their toes during the second half of the remix, IKYGUY displays his ability to keep you hooked from start to finish with his take on ‘Less Permanent.’ Don’t miss it below.

It’s hard to believe that it has been almost a full year since IKYGUY’s last release. Late last year, we had the opportunity to premiere the endearing ‘Passing of Youth II‘ from the Toronto-based artist, and he has since gone on a hiatus battling his inner demons, until now. Coming back stronger than ever, IKYGUY returns with the epic ‘Ego Death,’ a track that will leave you in total amazement of the talented producer’s versatility.

“I’m excited, nervous and anxious for ‘Ego Death.’ This is a pivotal release for me. It’s the moment I’ve said f*ck it, I’m done with the negative self talk & my ego weighing me down,” IKYGUY states about the track. Here on FUXWITHIT, we are ecstatic that he has adopted this new mindset about his music, as his talents shine brighter than ever in his latest.

‘Ego Death’ is something completely new from IKYGUY, where he explores various realms of bass music to create a frenzy-inducing heater. Steadily building tension for the first minute of the track, IKYGUY’s musical abilities are at the forefront of the introduction. As the song reaches its climax, a monstrous wall of bass hits you directly in the gut, where influences from dubstep, trap and midtempo are meshed flawlessly. A soothing bridge provides a welcome interlude to ‘Ego Death,’ before IKYGUY unleashes additional fury in a nostalgic drumstep second half.

Welcome back, IKYGUY. Don’t miss ‘Ego Death’ below and grab the free download here.

Today, we are delighted to premiere Toronto-based producer IKYGUY‘s latest track titled ‘Passing of Youth II’. Although absent of vocals, the endearing track is emotional, meaningful, and carries a strong message.

“The inspiration behind POY II comes from my own struggles on what it really means to grow up. It’s something that I think about constantly and I see a lot of people struggling with as well. We’re taught that giving up on our dreams is equal to growing up. We spend our lives chasing other people’s dreams & neglect our own. This is the passing of youth. We lose our child-like sense of curiosity and imagination while trying to fit in with the grown ups. This track is the second version of a previous track I wrote for a 24-hour charity compilation. This track expands on a lot of different elements I wanted to cover in version 1.”

In a roller coaster of a journey, IKYGUY balances melodic undertones with gritty fills that perfectly compliment each other. A change in pace in the second half continues to add to the beauty of ‘Passing of Youth II,’ where the talented producer’s innate ability to manipulate sounds is on full display. Don’t get too comfortable, though, as the track will also please bass music fans with its contorted, warping synths and raw energy. IKYGUY states “there definitely was a challenge making the drops heavy but not too heavy that they overpower the rest of the song,” but the final product is a flawless balance of beauty and bass. Check it out below!
