A project born from the pooled creative juices of two of the brightest minds in the entire game, It Hz is the love child of two of South Africa’s brightest stars in the form of Chee and Jon Casey. Combining the blazing elements from the best in the bass and trap arenas, you’re left with a product that is equal parts dancy and debilitating. Attempting to reignite dance floors (living rooms) with their trademarked style and grit, they’ve blessed the world with a new sacrificial audio offering in the form of ‘Pikachu’.

A true catch for all that click play, ‘Pikachu’ has as much swing as a revolving door, endlessly continuing the cycle. Mashing together Chee’s dark soundscapes with Jon Casey’s arrangements creates this saucy sonic delicacy that is surely palatable for even the most picky of eaters. For lovers of only the most high-fidelity drums, this is an all-you-can-eat buffet, the beat keeping your hips shifting delightfully from side to side. If you weren’t aware of the mastery of these two artists beforehand, this would assuredly be one hell of an eye-opener. Check out ‘Pikachu’ for yourself below!

Collaborative projects from artists with different signature styles are always exciting, as every new track is the equivalent of Schrödinger’s cat as you never know what you’re going to get until you listen. Perhaps the most representative example of this statement is It Hz, a duo comprised of up-and-coming South African producers Chee and Jon Casey. While both artists have made their mark on the bass scene with releases on Wakaan, Bassrush and Quality Goods Records, Chee’s sound edges more on the experimental bass side whereas Jon Casey’s knack lies in dirty trap beats.

This hasn’t stopped the two producers from coming together to form It Hz a couple of years ago, where they have been able to merge their strengths together to create an insanely unique project. Since earning the respect of the bass moguls Noisia with their First Of All EP in December 2016, the duo have been quiet working on their respective solo projects. However, fans were finally treated to new material yesterday in the form of a gritty free download titled ‘DISGUST’, with the SoundCloud caption stating “we’re back”. ‘DISGUST’ sees the duo doing what they do best, combining eerie soundscapes with impeccable sound design, glitchy synths and bold drums. A flawless merger of bass and trap, ‘DISGUST’ will bring out your ugliest bass face during the first drop and will simply leave you breathless during the second.

Here’s to more It Hz material in the near future. Check out ‘DISGUST’ below and grab the free download here.

As half of It Hz. he’s been killing it on the low with monster tunes like ‘Walking Dread’ and ‘Murdah’. Flexing his solo chops comes the impressive Rockefeller EP. The 4 track offering is a rugged, bass-heavy beast. ‘Kaboom’ sets the tone with an aggressive, industrial laced explosion. As you pick peices of shrapnel out of your ears, the title track drifts in, smooth and classy before drifting into a raw trap romp. ‘Kyuu’ burns slow but hits like a dust-laced blunt. One minute everything is groovy, the next you’re in a different dimension. ‘Octane’ rounds the project out with more pounding bass and insane sound design. It’s the audio equivalent of fighting Samurai warriors on a mountain top at dawn.

TL;DR: Jon Casey’s Rockefeller EP fucking bangs. Stream below and cop it on Slow Roast Records.
