Jacknife and The Bloody Beetroots collab on ‘Jericho’, a thrilling futuristic banger. This dark and dramatic single is being release on Tiesto’s own Musical Freedom.

It’s no wonder that ‘Jericho’ is a fiercely dark electronic banger having been created by one of the dark realms of electronic music’s not-so-hidden gems. Both Jacknife and The Bloody Beetroots dabble in the darker side of things so there is plenty of theatrics, a quick tempo, and big synth-wave influences, and ‘Jericho’ can find itself ranked within this aggressive sound.

The track opens up with pulsating synths and intense 80’s vibes, but in a good way. That vintage, frenzied, rave sound immediately hooks into your ear as you sign up for the ride. The retro feel is quickly shaken off as the tempo builds and the drop becomes apparent. There is some cutting silence in the ambiance just before the tumble. The breakdown keeps the tension with voluminous background bass, but it’s clear that Jackknife and The Bloody Beetroots enjoyed teasing out each sample and illuminating it against the stripped-down backdrop. There is a lot of energy throughout the track and that makes for a creative contrast when they part the waves and things are calm for a moment- but just a moment, since there is little time to waste before the next big drop. ‘Jericho’ has an epic sound but doesn’t feel over the top with its theatrics; this is a testament to the dexterous mixing and master production work that is typical of these two artists. If only they could partner up more often.

If you are looking for a dark banger that has satiating substance, ‘Jericho’ is the way to go, and if you haven’t heard of either of these enigmatic figures, this is a great track to try them on for size. Have a listen for yourself below.

Australian native Jack Duggan, also known as Jacknife, has been a busy man the past several years, with his music galavanting across the globe into scores of bass music fans’ ears. Blending a unique concoction of heavy, dubstep-centric sonic waves and refreshing, groovy g-house, he’s found quite the niche for himself. Launching his own label, Bladed Black Records, an imprint of Pinnacle Collective, he’s locked and loaded to take on the entirety of the industry at this point, bursting forward with unrestricted passion. Now, he’s back at it once again, this time delivering a maniacal affair in the form of ‘Fear,’ a track that will make the hair on your arms stand straight at attention.

‘Fear’ is a perfect showcase of this immensely talented artist’s diverse repertoire, starting off with an intimidating vocal sample of “Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain parts of the human brain.” All I can say is, boy will those receptors be firing at max capacity. An adrenaline-spiking cybernetic-sounding sample greets you and sets the aggressive tone for the rest of the piece, leading up to the pre-drop vocal of “you know what the fuck going on bitch,” right before you’re demolished by the bone-crushing brutality of its bass lines. This piece is immaculately put together, with impressive switch-ups in both energy and genre, featuring tight back-and-forth action. This keeps your ears on their proverbial toes, never quite sure what’s coming next, but absolutely eager to continue the audio journey. It’s rare to find a track that has so much diversity that the entirety of the piece is worth listening to, with no one part making or breaking it as a whole. ‘Fear’ shatters those expectations, a true testament to the creativity and effort of this youthful artist. Jacknife is assuredly one to keep your eye on for the rest of 2020, but for now check out ‘Fear’ for yourself below!

The ATLiens are among the best at having a keen acuity for what’s hot in the underground – just take a listen to their Lost Lands set and you’ll quickly understand. Their Ghost Planet EP dating back to July perfectly embodied how the trap scene has evolved over the years, while also hinting at what the future holds. Continuing along this theme, the masked duo have enlisted what can simply be described as the A-list of up-and-comers in the underground bass scene to remix the Ghost Planet EP, and fans are in for a real treat.

A versatile, eleven-track endeavour, Ghost Planet Remixes (Part 1) is bound to please a wide array of electronic music lovers. Dubstep fans can rejoice at the contributions from OG Nixin and Al Ross, while heavy house and electro fans can go crazy to Jacknife and Lektrique’s remixes. Sandwiched in between these two genres is an eclectic mix of gnarly bass from Leotrix, Moore Kismet, Bro Safari and BINKS, experimental weirdness from Bishu and Code:Pandorum, and wonky freeform from Space Wizard and FrostTop.

Don’t get us wrong; not all the remixers are new names to the scene. Despite this, they all take a forward-thinking approach with their respective takes on the tracks and bring a new life to their classic sounds.
