Known for putting out some of the most energetic house music around while also delving into the realms of electro and dubstep, Tony Romera’s SANS MERCI Records has quickly established itself as a label worthy of recognition. With artists such as the label-head himself, SQWAD, Basstrick, and more having released heaters on the label, it’s evident that Tony Romera has a keen eye for talent. This ability to discover new talents is on full display in the label’s latest release, as it sees up-and-coming Belgian producer Jay Dunham deliver a masterfully crafted piece of art titled ‘Critique.’

Although the Brussels-based artist has a mere 1500 followers on SoundCloud, ‘Critique’ has already amassed over ten thousand plays since its release on August 23rd, attesting to the quality of the track. An eerie introduction highlighted by a sombre vocal sample quickly builds into an aggressive bass line that combines old school electro and new industrial sounds to create a highly energetic drop. While heavy bass and violent synths such as in ‘Critique’ usually indicate the absence of melodies and musicality, Jay Dunham is able to include an incredibly catchy melody amid this peculiar soundscape.
