Four years ago TDE’s Jay Rock dropped ‘Parental Advisory’ – a track so west coast it made you feel like you were in a 6-4, drinking OE, reppin’ a set. Produced by SmokeyGotBeatz, ‘Parental Advisory’ featured 3 ruthless verses from the Watts native. This was right around the time Jay Rock was coming off a fantastic showing on Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d city album. Since then, Jay Rock has been a force in the rap game especially when it comes to his lyrical prowess. Enjoy the throwback, easily one of my personal favourites from Jay Rock.

Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Future & James Blake Connect For Massive New Track ‘King’s Dead’

Woah. This is massive! If seeing Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Future & James Blake together on a track wasn’t enough, ‘King’s Dead’ is produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and Teddy Walton. The track embodies a similar sound to Kendrick and Mike WiLL’s recent collabs (‘DNA,’ ‘Humble’) but with a new energy thanks to the stacked roster. Kendrick kicks things off with an in your face hook telling listeners “to miss him with the bullshit.” Jay Rock drops the first verse with a rapid-fire flow. Kendrick and Future go back and forth on the hook before Future comes through with his own verse which starts off strong and then gets very odd with a high-pitched flow (expect some memes of this flow). Most surprising is the brief appearance of James Blake who provides a beautiful bridge/intro into the second half which sees the beat switch up, somehow getting harder for King Kendrick to kill it and close it out perfectly. Given the quality and star power on this one, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being one of the biggest records of 2018. Listen below.

We out here! Jay Rock heads home for this new joint which is a clear tribute to the West. The beat is produced by SmokeyGotBeatz and of course its “Mixed By Ali”. Jay Rock jumped up on everyone’s radar when he joined K Dot on “Money Trees” but he’s been in the game for a minute. This track shows us just that – the hook is infectious and will definitely incite a chant when played to a crowd and the verses deliver enough to get your head rocking. No word if this is attached a project or not but we’re excited to hear what Jay Rock drops next.
