When it comes to the current immensely saturated dubstep scene, it can become far too easy to blend into the background due to an already staggering range of sounds and styles permeating the culture. However, there are several swiftly rising audio tastemakers that are boldly straying from the fold. One such harmonic hero that boldly strays from the fold is Canada’s Jordan Komarniski, also known by his Jiqui production alias. Utilizing an overtly gritty, yet sensationally clean production style that boils the brain like an egg on a Texas sidewalk in the summer, he’s curated a sound that’s garnered immense amounts of attention as of late. Last year, fans were blessed with his borderline maniacal flip of ‘Boss‘, which seemed to be rinsed by everyone and their mom. He also blessed the world with his first release on Never Say Die Black Label with his Shadow Dance EP, which was met with critical acclaim from the far corners of the community. Now, he’s back with his 2nd EP release through Black Label with his Alchemist EP, and we’re happy to say we’ve had the great opportunity of premiering ‘Close To U’ from it for your listening pleasure right here on FUXWITHIT.

This tune is one of my favorites I’ve written, I wanted something to contrast the other darker tracks on the EP. I personally love contrasting melodic intros with heavier drops, and while I don’t feel like writing melodic oriented music is my strong suit, I’m really happy with how this track and some of my newer stuff has been coming out. I’m constantly trying to evolve my sound and progress forward as an artist and this whole EP is me trying to embody that. I have a big mix of experimental and heavy music on the way that I’m super stoked about. – Jiqui

Opening up with tranquil, soothing vocals that make stress drift off your body like steam in a sauna, you’re left in a state of blissful serenity, completely unaware of the carnage that’s about to commence. Quickly coming out of your lulled stupor, you’re greeted with an accelerating build before the jet engines ignite and you’re jettisoned straight to the moon. All gas no brakes, ‘Close To U’ is primed off of only the finest diesel, with the first drop demolishing all semblance of human life in the vicinity. Wheeling-and-dealing so much grime you’ll need an hour-long shower to scrub off the filth, Jiqui really decided to play no games and take no prisoners. The latter drop is even more brutal, sounding reminiscent of a futuristic cybernetic landscape ravaged by the AI technological advancements that have enslaved the populous. All hope is lost, machines are king, the only solid truth for humanity is pain and desolation. Is Jiqui working with the mechanized menace? Only one way to find out. Stream ‘Close To U’ for yourself below!

Maintaining a consistently exquisite level of perfection in production is no small feat, but one that Jordan Komarniski, also known by Jiqui, tackles successfully time and time again. Proudly boasting a veteran sound that teeters on absolutely diabolical, his music has already devastated the necks of hundreds of thousands of listeners, much to their sheer delight. With monstrous releases on some of the most influential dubstep labels in the game like Disciple Round Table, DSV Audio, Odio Records, and Bassweight Records, he truly has a style that can readily traverse all the major platforms. Now, he’s diving right back into the thick of things with his latest sonic weaponry in the form of his Shadow Dance EP, out on the illustrious Never Say Die Black Label.

Opening up this EP in a massive way, the title track ‘Shadow Dance’ sets an immensely aggressive tone from the very beginning. Kicking things off with a masterfully dark aesthetic, you’ll feel like a warrior on the very edges of a battlefield, mentally preparing yourself for the carnage about to commence. The first drop sets the tone for the entire body of work, eliciting the same burst of energy as a rocket taking flight, sprinkling a saucy vocal sample before bringing in the main disgusting beat. Sporting titanic kicks and an overall grime-centric appeal, this is one track that’s particularly poignant in the violence department.

Practically putting on a clinic for how to dominate the airwaves, ‘Amputate’ fiercely bodies all within earshot. Utilizing unprecedented bounce and undeniable grooviness, the only thing this track will truly ‘Amputate’ is your ability to stop dancing entirely. Being a prime candidate for the category of “songs that remind you of a apocalyptic laser cannon,” this is one track that will be a secret weapon in a vast majority of dubstep sets for a long time coming.

Welcoming fellow mad scientists Jkyl & Hyde into his laboratory, Jiqui continues his onslaught of audible destruction with ‘Fight’, a gutbusting tyrant of a track. If our society progresses to the point of cybernetics becoming commonplace, I’d imagine this would be what people would be listening to right before they got into a bar brawl. Looking for the soundtrack to a futuristic fight club? Look no further. Putting a refined and excessively clean sound design on full display, this track is both a delight on the ears and a burden on the heart as it raises your adrenal levels to borderline unhealthy heights.

Capping off Shadow Dance in proper fashion, Jiqui recruited Guillotine for a track that makes you a zombified version of a ‘Slug.’ Coating your body in a thick, dense ooze, ‘Slug’ leaves listeners doing their best interpretation of attempting to headbang while entrapped in quick sand. With a distinct metallic flair to it, this piece will have you thinking the iron giant himself is coming out of retirement to fuck shit up. Continuing the trend of maniacal melodies and luscious low end that is prevalent throughout the rest of Shadow Dance as well, ‘Slug’ is a fitting final chapter to the filth fest that Jiqui blessed us with.

Firmly marking his territory as one of the brightest young minds in the dubstep scene with each subsequent release, Jiqui made a noticeable change in his style of production for Shadow Dance, but conquered it with ease. Showcasing a breadth of range and immense artistic prowess, this entire release is a wet dream for fans of the heavier side of the music realm. Check out Shadow Dance in full for yourself below!

With the UK continuing its campaign of promoting some of the most immensely impressive dubstep of the current musical era, it’s no surprise then, when yet another unreal compilation makes it way across the pond from European shores. Confidently bursting forth into the ring this time is the ever-immaculate DSV Audio, coming in hot with an even-dozen supremely spicy tracks on their latest Rebirth compilation album. Coupling this release with a majorly important charity mission, they’ve partnered with SANE, a UK-based mental health charity. DSV is aiming to promote only the most pristine of music from artists like Bainbridge, High Zombie, Jiqui, Sharps, Matt Doe and DirtySnatcha among others, while also raising funds for an issue that has never been this large of epidemic. What could be better than great music for an even greater cause? Not damn much.

Hailing from the frosty state of Minnesota, Bainbridge is no stranger to ice-cold production that sends shivers down the spine. Handcrafting some of the most vicious dubstep releases in all the community right now, it’s no surprise then that his latest ‘Skull Busta’ is as lethal as they come. Some tracks have a delightful purr about them when they burst forth from your sound system, but a true tell-tale sign of a Bainbridge release is thinking Cerberus is about to crawl out of your speaker and drag you down to the depths of hell. ‘Skull Busta’ is no different, lambasting listeners’ craniums with otherworldly levels of vehement violence.

Two of the heaviest hitters in the underground dub scene right now, High Zombie and Sharps, have been flippantly flaunting their flamboyantly deadly styles in their own regards for years now. Now, they’ve joined forces to bring folks ‘Contention’, a gritty mechanized war machine of epic proportions. Showcasing more punch than Mike Tyson and more layers than a proper lasagna, listeners will be left battered and stuffed with more than their fill. This is one rough ride people, so please secure your safety harnesses before entering the ride.

If you’re in dire need of some wobbly, grimy, goodness, man have Matt Doe and Jiqui got you covered with ‘Doequi.’ Bridging the gap between the grotesquely heavy abominations that are trademarked Jiqui, and the undeniable groove and sensational danciness from Matt Doe, you’re left with something truly quite special. A sure-fire way to get any room of people going wild, ‘Doequi’ really hits all the marks.

The last track I’m going to cover from Rebirth is DirtySnatcha’s melodic masterpiece that is ‘Take You Higher.’ Opening with gorgeous vocals that lull you into a false sense of security, you’re left practically defenseless once you’re firmly smacked by the punishing bass lines. One of those tracks that makes your face tense up and you let out an unconscious “oof,” you’ll be expecting the left hand and get the right squarely to the jaw. The house-centric switch-up for the second drop is saucy to say the least, and diversifies the energy in a big way.

DSV have crushed the curation on Rebirth straight out of the park, and are helping to bring funds and awareness to such an important topic in our society, especially right now. Let music and the community continue to be a guiding force in your life and lean on it when you need to. You can find a link to their fundraiser here, and check out the rest of the compilation for yourself below!
