It’s not often that an artist comes around who is always comfortable trying new things and cannot be held within the confines of genres, and Decap truly embodies those characteristics. The San Fransisco based artist pulls elements from a variety of genres to including pop, hip hop, and electronic music to create his own musical space and genre know as “future knock.” He has produced for some of the biggest names in the rap game including Nipsey Hussle and Talib Kweli. Disregard his collaborations and you’re still left with an impressive discography full of innovative production. On ‘Which Planet Are You From,’ Decap teams up with New York’s own JNTHN STEIN, whose heavy jazz and hip hop influences really complement Decap’s future knock style.

The introduction to the track showcases a jazzy guitar riff immediately leading into a classic 808 driven future knock beat aided by spacey percussion elements that leave the listener floating in low-earth orbit. The guitar riff returns periodically giving us a jazz-driven breakdown. JNTHN STEIN’s wordplay and cadence animates an already high-energy track through this spacey beat. If you’re looking to get high (on music), then look no further than JNTHN STEIN‘s latest 3 track effort Everything Is A Drug. It’s a diverse offering that continues to evolve and expand as you play it out. The title track is a gradual introduction that sets the tone and showcases STEIN’s musicality. ‘Master Control’ switches the vibe as psychedelic guitar riffs transport you into 69′ Camaro convertible on a sizzling Summer Sunday. With soulful vocals from BXRBER and some distorted bass, this one manages to feel nostalgic and futuristic all at once. Closing out the project comes ‘Who Cares’ with Mr. Carmack. JNTHN STEIN & Mr. Carmack Team Up For ‘Who Cares’ & Launch Remix Contest

JNTHN STEIN and Mr. Carmack are two artists that you never quite know what to expect from them (except quality of course). While their solo projects always amaze, it’s quite a treat to see them come together for a new collab. ‘Who Cares’ is a moving composition that manage to explore a myriad of emotional angles. It opens melancholy and subdued. A reflective feeling that gradually builds. The whole vibe is stripped out as raucous guitar screams pull listeners into a violently booming drop. The track evolves further from there, morphing into a majestic beauty backed with powerful brass. This is a masterwork.

In addition to the release JNTHN Stein & Mr. Carmack have opted to host a remix contest for the track. Mr. Carmack Takes A Trip To ‘Silvertown’ With JNTHN STEIN Remix

Mr. Carmack has struck again. The production legend just put his spin on JNTHN STEIN’s ‘Silvertown’ and it’s as incredible as you’d expect. It opens with Camrack’s signature weirdness; vocal chops, dizzying synth loops and steady percussion. From there it opens up, allowing BXRBER’s vocals to breathe as a dreamy soundscape is crafted. Just when you become engulfed in the tranquility, Carmack flips the script, delivering an animalistic energy that conjures images of a rave in the middle of a massive rain-forest. Closing it out comes a fog that ushers you back into dreamland once more. Stream it below.
