Dabow & Jon Casey’s connection runs deep. From the iconic ‘Birds’ to ‘Banga,’ and ‘Game Over,’ anytime the pair come together it’s something special. ‘I Surrender’ keeps the streak alive with a gem that perfectly balances their respective styles. Built around an intoxicating vocal loop, it’ll instantly be stuck in your head. The flow on this one is masterful. It’s constantly moving, sliding from pocket to pocket while maintaining an addictive bounce. Despite possessing layers, everything is allowed the proper room to breathe for maximum impact. It’s a banger but it’s not too aggressive. Its bump is fluid and smooth while still remaining potent. It’s the type of track that only the two could craft together.

Dabow showed me this idea in the studio together and I said I have to add my 2 cents on it ASAP. We listened to the song more than we worked on it at the time because we loved hearing it so much. The fact that it’s FMU’s first record is the biggest honour and I’m beyond hyped to get it out. Thank you Alison for believing in us the way you do. Hope y’all enjoy it.

’I Surrender” was meant to be a collab with Jon Casey from the minute it was started, feels special to be part of the first release on FMU Records. We worked on this collab in the weirdest music studio in Austin Texas, it was like a huge warehouse, with a lot of abandoned stuff, but in two rooms they had some nice studios. The whole mgmt team was there, vibing to the track. Jon was adding unlimited sauce to it. Till we were like: “Yo, this is it!” Then the next night we were listening to it in the car with a few other people, and I told Jon: “This track is gonna change our lives.”

Altogether, Not Forever Reimagined is one of the most impressive remix albums we’ve come across in a long time. Heavily leaning towards drum and bass but nicely complemented by a mind-melting breaks remix from Nitepunk and a bass brute from Jon Casey, the collection of tracks is one jaw-dropping feat after the other. Upgrade does incredible justice to ‘Realm’ before PhaseOne surprises with a clean drum and bass cut of ‘Beams.’ Following Nitepunk’s contribution that is so good it must be mentioned twice, Buunshin shows he could produce hip hop just as well as drum and bass, using Armanni Reign’s vocals in ‘Villains Cowl’ to unleash production mastery. Monty’s mesmerizing, quintessential style drives the energy in his take on ‘Beams’ while FUXWITHIT favourites Jon Casey and Rohaan close out the remix pack just as energetically as it opened.

The incredible collab pairs classic trap sensibilities with an underlying forward-thinking bass approach to create an absolute banger. The energy from the outset is menacing. As Jon adds in an alluring melody and bent vocals it begins to truly take shape. The first drop is a mean-mug-inducing dose of bass and trap that’ll have hitting replay. Militant snare work in the break builds the excitement before they smooth things out. Just when you’re comfortable, things ratchet up before bottoming out with an absolutely cavernous drop that’ll rattle your sense of existence. Jon Casey and AVANCE don’t miss and ‘POUNDS’ is another impeccable attestation to the fact.

‘POUNDS’ started with me messing with one of my own vocal chops. Something I hadn’t really done often up until that point. I heard a rhythm and just ran with it. I posted a clip on my insta stories and AVANCE loved it and asked if he could throw some of his spice in there and so I sent it to him and he created a perfect second drop. This track is, as Chee put it so eloquently, “super buttery” and I loved that description and wanted to keep it like that. – Jon Casey

The first is pretty much the foundation of our site. The second and third are two artists we’ve been championing since the beginning of their careers. Their growth and evolution over the past few years is rivaled by very few, going from unknown underground artists to two of the most promising acts in electronic music. As for Jadū Dala, they embody our Champions Of The Underground mentality to their core. Constantly breaking new artists and sounds. Seeing all four of these elements unite may seem like a ‘Fever Dream,’ but today we have the pleasure of premiering the reality.

Redefining what a banger can be, Jon Casey & capshun flex their mastery throughout ‘Fever Dream.’ An intoxicating and exotic vocal chant lures you in like a siren song. Drums command your attention as the excitement envelopes. The first drop is the highest grade of uncut trap dope you can get your hands on. Just when you get comfortable they up the ante and aggressiveness with some space-grade lazers for a newfound grit. The stunning break brings in a sense of serene calm with soft keys and soothing tones that are slowly overtaken by the percussion as we approach an epic finale. The climax is stripped down but somehow manages to feel heavier and more trapped out. The addition of the smooth keys with menacing trap horns is a contrast that shouldn’t work but does, so damn well. Original, addictive, hard-hitting, and ever-progressing, ‘Fever Dream’ raises the bar for bangers in 2021.
