A diverse figment of music production, Dan Dixon has been steadily gaining composure over the course of a 5-year audible conquest producing and performing under the guise AVANCE. While the concept of being confined to a single genre can be a crippling mentality for some artists, Dixon has in-turn leveraged a propensity for a variety of styles as a primary catalyst in his work, utilizing his equally-weighted craft as a cunning advantage in his ever-burgeoning list of solo and collaborative efforts.

Following the release of his Destroy All Humans EP last April, AVANCE returns to Bassweight Records with a vengeance for unfinished business and an insatiable thirst for dubstep. The Odious probes further within Dixon’s production acumen, unmasking sonic brutality that takes shape over the course of the project, which features three solo endeavors as well as a merciless collaboration with K-NINE.

Outfitted for auditory warfare, AVANCE’s latest is not for the faint-hearted or soft-stomached. Be sure to check out The Odious EP in full below!

Unshackled from the extensive archive of Spag Heddy’s unreleased material as a commencement to festival season this past July, ‘Zoom’ has remained one of the most enviable tracks of the summer, combining a playful layering of trap horns that builds an inescapable sensation of momentum before catapulting into a merciless siege of bass.

For a track that utilizes a simple, yet acutely potent lead, ‘Zoom’ presents the ideal canvas for collaboration, providing both an ample structure to work from as well as plenty of room for innovation. The compilation features contributions from Never Say Die veteran Krimer as well as frontrunners in the modern wave of dubstep including Moore Kismet, K-NINE, TRVCY, & L.U.X. to ensure a level of innovation and diversity that can rival the tremendous impact of the original.

“Working on this remix for Spag Heddy was so awesome, as I’ve looked up to him for so many years. ‘Zoom’ was one of the most highly anticipated tracks in all of bass music, so for NSD and 24-8 to have given me this opportunity is literally so awesome and seems like a full-circle moment for my career,” Adelanto-based Moore Kismet shares regarding the magnitude of the opportunity. “I wanted to stay as true to the original as I could but I also got my own route with it, and I think I did a pretty damn good job of that!”

Encompassing numerous subgenres within the bass music arena, each remix within the compilation assumes the challenge of finding creative symmetry. Working to utilize aspects of the original, while preserving aspects of authenticity within their own style. “In all honesty, I’m still in shock over the remix, opportunities like this come rarely. With so much excitement and ambition, I re-wrote the record to resemble “K-NINE,” the outcome was this darker heavy version of ‘Zoom’ and I couldn’t be happier.”

Be sure to check out Moore Kismet and K-NINE’s take on a Spag Heddy classic, as well as the full ‘Zoom’ Remix EP out now via Never Say Die Records!

A lurid, sinister organ present the welcoming for the track, a querulous bass paradigm haunts the backdrop of the song as a massive swell of energy reveals distant intermittent drumming. The percussion of the track ebbs gradually in the background before suddenly taking its grip over the track, joined by a harsh pre-drop vocal, the song catapults into an ardent disposition of incisive bass surges and oscillating sub fills.

Riddled with bass, K-NINE’s debut release with Never Say Die is an introduction of epic magnitude and makes us anxious as ever to see what the rest of 2019 will hold in store for the young pioneer of bass.

Vancouver based producer NXSTY has steadily risen in popularity over the past year, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. A handful of massive single releases such as ‘Coupe’ & ‘Break’ depict the devastating style of industrial trap that the Canada native totes, offering his formal introduction to the bass music scene.

While the young producer has more than demonstrated his proficiency in working independently, in his latest release ‘Paimon’ he teams up with budding riddim aficionado K-NINE for an unsuspected but perfectly fitting combination of unique sounds.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/530143140″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]

A reverberating synth provides the warm welcome for the tune, melting effortlessly into a slow-motion warped out sample which forewarns the impending doom, offering one last opportunity for retreat. A sinister melody haunts the background as the vocal loop grows in cadence, backed with a mighty hydraulic riser which lets loose a rattling invasion of tight metallic clicks. A short-lived reprise of the vocal loop breaks almost instantaneously into the second undulation of fluctuating bass quells, ensuring that the track leaves not a single survivor.

Presenting a blank canvas for two distinct styles to heighten and intensify one another, ‘Paimon’ validates the conclusion that the most unexpected collaborations can create the most resounding impact. Be sure to give a thorough listen to the likes of NXSTY & K-NINE and grab the latest track from the two for free here.
