The budding label consistently put out some of the most forward-thinking and interesting bass music in 2017 and it looks like that effort is set to continue for 2018.

Last year we named LA90 one of the 10 labels that you need to know. The budding label consistently put out some of the most forward-thinking and interesting bass music in 2017 and it looks like that effort is set to continue for 2018. Today we have the pleasure of premiering their first release of the year: Hendrik Joerges ‘Resonance.’ The South African producer’s talents are on full display with this heavy new release. ‘Resonance’ blends mysterious energy with an underlying excitement and wonky bass. It’s a mystic voyage that’s ripe with intensity but balanced with a sense of serene growth. The continual evolution will keep you entranced and at times enthralled. Stream ‘Resonance’ below.

South African producer Jon Casey is one of the illest up-and-comers in the bass scene. We described his last EP Rockefeller as, “a rugged, bass-heavy beast.” His latest effort packs a similar punch but with a more robotic/industrial aesthetic. ‘Geneva’ kicks things off and sounds like world music played through a circular saw. There’s an underlying exotic motif that is stomped out with ragged industrial sound design. It’s dangerous and dirty in all the right ways. ‘Trigger Happy’ builds upon that energy and takes it up to 100. The saws are replaced with machine gun bursts and bombs. Casey is on a warpath with this one, disembodying speakers and blowing brains with his bass. The final drop is a deranged soldier coming over the crest with a flamethrower to turn the tide. Look out for this one turning festival stages into war zones. Stream both below and grab the EP via LA90.
