‘Dune’ is a captivating voyage to a mystical alien planet with hints of nostalgia sprinkled throughout. Cinematic strings sweep you away to a distant land brimming with danger and intrigue. Snappy percussion and trap grunts set the stage for thundering 808s and gritty vox that instantly inject an epic OG trap feel. It’s the golden era trap sound that we’ve been longing for more artists to revisit. Minimal yet masterful ‘Dune’ brings the bounce while also offering a stunning sonic escape. Clocking in at only a minute and thirty seconds, you’ll be jamming this one on repeat.

“Dune” is supposed to take the listener back into the golden era of SoundCloud trap. Most of my tracks I make in this style are deeply inspired by the years back then and can be considered a homage. To this day, I love the music that got released all these years ago and it’s still utterly unique to me. I can drain endless inspiration from those tunes and have done so until today. I’m hoping my tracks can pass on the spark that I find in that music to todays listeners.

Next up DROPWIZZ takes listeners to the battlefield with the fierce ‘Gulag,’ a bass-heavy heater inspired by your favourite first-person shooter. Take a break from battle and uncover Lenny and SL!DE‘S ‘Oasis,’ an exotic tribal trap smash. Looking for some bounce? You know BAGG and GALAZY have you covered with ‘Repeat.’ Building off this dynamic but with its own distinct flavour comes ‘Big Pizzo’ from Gurf. The track explores his recent future beat sound with a twist of the Partica “Trap2” swagger.

Providing the perfect shift into the more melodic back half of the compilation Haan808‘s ‘Main Phase’ brings the feels with laidback energy that still bumps. Norway’s Borny blesses us with a heavenly future beat banger that’s fittingly titled ‘Skywalker.’ The shimmering synths and uplifting bounce will have you moonwalking in the clouds. The project’s biggest surprise comes from none other than L*o*J. The duo has become renowned for their experimental and heavy approach to bass music. ‘Sunken’ is their softest and most stunning work to date. A beautiful bop that feels like summer love.

As the project nears its close we drift into more cinematic territory. sebjin‘s ‘Rights’ leverages his signature sound providing an immersive futuristic soundscape that’s yours to explore. Hontis & Zodiaque deliver a finale that is nothing short of epic. The slow-burning ‘Extinguish’ opens like a movie score, rich with emotion that deepens with each passing bar. With over two minutes of carefully crafted tension building, the release in the drop is monumental. The track packs a near-spiritual experience while maintaining a sense of ferocity.

I wanted to produce a track that takes you back to 2017/2018 when a lot of my favorite music on SoundCloud was released. I love exotic vibes and wanted to produce a complete package consisting of these vibes, heavy bass but not lacking in bounce, and an overall mystic but very hype atmosphere. I spent a lot of time on this track and decided to make it my first solo release in several years. If you listen closely you can hear my love for a precise selection and design of chants. After all, this track has a very personal touch to me since it consists of everything that has influenced me as a musician in this genre so far. Enjoy!

The laidback and vibey intro provides a serene atmosphere that is slowly ratcheted up. capshun delivers the first drop for a dizzying but clean sound that perfectly fuses future beats and trap. A looped vocal gives way to TaDa’s contribution as he takes things in a dirtier and more gritty direction. The midpoint serves as a smooth rest before Arthus brings the future beat bump to up the energy once more. A menacing chant and the “Lenny fuck me up” vocal prep you for the filthy final drop. Lenny brings the bass with a minimal but massive drop of devastating proportions.

The track came together when Lucid Monday hosted a collab challenge on their discord server a while ago. Challenge was to collaborate with an artist on the server you have never collabed with before, the finished tracks could be submitted and the winner would get featured on the next Lucid Monday drop. Somehow we 4 arranged to work together and started off using a wip by capshun. The whole project was a mess as we sent the stems back and forth tuning and adding stuff here and there. As I was the one to put the final touches on the mix and export it, my laptop had trouble opening and handling the flp. With 224 tracks, it’s by far the biggest project file I’ve worked on so far. Even though the 4 drops (capshun, TaDa, Arthus, Lenny, in order) all have their own feeling, the whole track itself has some spacey, uplifting vibes, hence we decided to call it ‘Velocity.’

Exotic, enthralling and dripping with knock, this collab is trap heaven. Dragging listeners into an Egyptian Pharoah’s burial chamber, the sound is regal, dark and powerful. This one packs more heat than the desert sun and the precision of pyramid architecture. Tribal chants conjure a near spiritual experience while ghostly bends add to the ominous appeal. Grunts, pitched rap vocals and heart-pounding bass create the perfect classic trap balance.

With the samples at the centre of what makes ‘Horus’ so special, we had to take a deeper dive into Lenny’s sample process.

As I’m fascinated by ethnic chants, ancient vocals and choirs, human recordings etc; which are impossible to create yourself, I went ahead and found a ton of cool, partly really old sample libraries. I’m still always looking for new ones, steadily enlarging my collection. It’s one of my favorite parts of producing when you are hella inspired to create and you sit down at night, just browsing through tons of ethnic samples while building up ideas in your head, dragging out the ones you want to use into your projects. It’s so many that you can’t memorize the samples, so each time I go through them, it’s like opening a present, finding new stuff in your library. You can compare it to rummaging through a huge library of books, just that it’s sound and that it’s all stored on your PC – fascinating to me. In addition to that, ethnic samples contain a kind of energy no other samples do. Sometimes you know it was recorded in a real African village – not in a studio setting or when it’s a Maasai choir sung by a whole tribe, it’s really taking you to different places, just by listening to it.
