Today I’m gonna take you on a journey down to memory lane. It’s the 1st of June 2018. It’s a normal late-spring Friday here in Trento (yeah this is where I live folks), Kanye’s Ye has just been released and #NationalDonutDay is a trending topic on Twitter. Among this more or less relevant news, Venner, the fabulous (and highly underrated) collaborative album between sakuraburst and leopold sees the light. This might not be sakuraburst’s best work (Harpsinger is off the charts in my opinion) but the emotional charge of the album was definitely something of a force to reckon with. Venner is a 40 minute collection that doesn’t waste a single second and showcases the dazzling qualities of the two young artists.

Jumping almost 18 months forward to the preset day, for the luck of all beats’ lovers, sakuraburst has felt the need to share with us the full instrumental version album. It’s not that I have something against leopold. I really enjoyed his work in the original, but having all these great tracks without lyrics allows me to enjoy Venner in a whole different way, under thousands of new points of view. While with the original I was listening to their story, now I can cut and sew up mine over sakurabursts’ electronic virtuosities, creating in my mind endless versions of this album. Some may find this release nothing more than a kind of redundant bonus, but I really love to loose myself on all these pads, guitar riffs or arpeggios and sudden punching kicks. Trust me, I wouldn’t lie saying that I’d love to own a cassette of this mixtape to put in my walkman on these cold rainy days.

Check the full instrumental version of Venner right below, and don’t miss the chance to check the original album too!
