Since the turn of the calendar year, experimental bass newcomer L’homie has been making waves in the underground scene with a distinct signature of dirty bass and minimal trap flair. The Icon Collective student first caught our attention with ‘Sting Of A Scorpion’s Tail‘ back in April and has since furthered his distinctive grittiness in ‘Resonate‘ to truly establish himself as a force to be reckoned with. Today, we’re stoked to premiere his latest concoction titled ‘3RROR’ that only pushes his versatile sound to new limits.

‘3RROR’ starts off with a calming yet futuristic aura, before a robotic sample leads the track into rugged bass madness. Wasting no time, L’homie flips the script from a state of bliss into a jagged, grungy heater without ever breaking the flow of the track. Using a metallic sample to tie the different sections of the track together, the LA-based artist weaves masterfully between different emotions to impress you with his talents. Speaking on this sample, L’homie states, “the vocals for this track came in after I had already produced most of the beat. I was looking for a vocal element that would help push the groove further during the build section and the second half the drop. Originally, the vocal sample sounded very dull and dry, so I threw one of my favorite plugins on it, adjusted the frequency down and brought the ‘feedback’ knob down to about 10%, applied some side chain, delay, and an auto-filter on the sample which gave it this robotic tone.” Oh, the magic of processing.

With a second drop that is quite different than the first, L’homie continues to hone in on his unique sound by creating two distinct drops that could each stand on their own. “Like my past releases, I try to keep similar elements in both drops to create a sense of familiarity but sometimes I’ll switch up the lead synth or introduce a new groove in the second drop to keep the track fresh all the way through,” a feat executed perfectly in ‘3RROR.’ Don’t miss it below.
