L’homie is an artist gifted with the ability to mesh various musical influences into single cohesive pieces. From his foray outside of the bass realm in the It Feels Good To Be Dead EP to his more recent contribution to MYOPICWORLD, the LA-based producer has consistently impressed with his creative innovation.

Ahead of L’homie’s return to bass with the DRIFT EP, we are ecstatic to bring you the second single from the project titled ‘Chrome’ alongside fellow Angeleno Gallium. “Gallium and I were classmates at Icon and we had always talked about writing a track together, but it took us a while before we got to a point where we were both happy with the end result. A few months after we graduated, we decided to link up and sit down to write something that I could put on this new EP which has a theme of high energy grooves,” L’homie states about how ‘Chrome’ came to be.

Upon pressing play, listeners are engulfed by mesmerizing frequencies and a post-apocalyptic soundscape, before L’homie and Gallium quickly build the track into a drop riddled with swagger and bounce. As the track progresses, the influence from different genres begins to peak through as a sudden change of pace brings about a drum and bass-leaning belter of a second half. “With the popularity of DNB rising, we thought it would be cool to steer the track in that direction because we’re both really big fans of the genre but we didn’t want to just write a full DNB track because that would just be hopping on the hype train,” L’homie adds. Finding a perfect balance between different styles, L’homie and Gallium have executed ‘Chrome’ to a tee. Don’t miss it below.

As the project that won L’homie Icon Collective’s best EP and best single of summer 2019, It Feels Good To Be Dead has been a long time coming. Over the last few weeks, singles from the project have been rolling out on SoundCloud, and now the ensemble of tracks is finally out in full on all digital streaming platforms via Playitlouder.

Despite being known for his rugged take on bass music that is equally experimental as it is enjoyable, L’homie took a complete one-eighty when composing It Feels Good To Be Dead, but the outcome is truly amazing. Tapping ETHERYAL and Isabel Damiani on all tracks as well as NEWGENT on ‘Feels Good To Be Dead,’ the LA-based artist showcases his ability to let vocals shine above serene musical soundscapes. Boasting the R&B & Soul tag on SoundCloud, listeners shouldn’t press play expecting a typical L’homie track, but a trio of groovy, seductive and smooth ballads, highlighted by alluring vocals and crisp production.

Open your mind and dive into L’homie’s latest below.

“I’ve been waiting for a couple of months to release this one and I’m so excited to finally get to share it with you. I set out with a goal to write a song that sounded like if Flume and I were to collaborate together and I couldn’t be happier with how the track turned out.”

It seems as though every new track from LA-based L’homie only gets more intricate in what is proving to be a truly breakout year for talented producer. From ‘Sting Of A Scorpion’s Tail‘ to ‘3RROR,’ the sound design and intrigue built throughout the tracks is always wonky and mesmerizing, and today we are ecstatic to premiere L’homie;s latest titled ‘Wave Particle’ which only furthers this theme.

The influence of Flume is heard from the get-go, as an experimental future bass aura is created with granular synths and crisp percussion. Timely pauses in the drop add to this experimental feel without escaping L’homie’s bass-driven sound. Although the soothing introduction and interlude clash with the vibrance of the two drops, the flow from start to finish is a testament to L’homie’s constant evolution as a producer. Don’t miss ‘Wave Particle’ below, out now as a joint release through Bonsai Collective and Phuture Collective.

Some of the best music and most original art emerges from unlikely sources of inspiration. For LA-based producer and Icon Collective student L’homie, his newest release titled ‘Sting Of The Scorpion’s Tail’ comes straight from one of his favourite TV shows, Into the Badlands. “The show tells the story of a boy who travels through this post-apocalyptic world trying to find enlightenment. It also has some of the best martial arts I’ve ever seen in a TV series. To me, it was the perfect combination of old world meets new world and that’s exactly what I wanted to capture in this song.”

L’homie’s repertoire of music is short yet impressive, displaying a versatile catalog of experimental bass and trap-infused beats, while also dabbling in softer, R&B ballads. In ‘Sting Of The Scorpion’s Tail,’ the talented artist continues to display his strengths as an up-and-comer, giving the track a minimal essence while keeping listeners engaged with peaks and troughs of dark, supernatural energy.

The first half of the track is eerie and ominous, focusing on gritty sound design and wonky basses, while the latter half is more melodic with undertones of euphoria driving the sonic experience. “With the storyline in mind, I knew I wanted the structure of the track to emulate that. I knew I wanted to make the first drop sound like the listener was about to go up against the final boss, in which after defeating it – goes down a path to achieve full enlightenment which the second drop is meant to represent,” L’homie tells us about the arrangement of this latest. If this unusual inspiration is the product of L’homie’s upcoming releases, the future looks bright for him. Don’t miss the enthralling ‘Sting Of The Scorpion’s Tail’ below!
