Winnetka, Illinois based DJ and production duo Louis The Child return with an intoxicating banger and have recruited the trap lord himself, TroyBoi. ‘Fresh Juice’ was originally teased almost three years ago now on the duos Instagram account and would later receive even more attention when heard live at SnowGlobe 2019. The track gives Louis The Child something new for their catalog while showing they can adapt and deliver what fans crave.

If you have been fortunate enough to witness Louis The Child live, you know they are no strangers to sprinkling in some trap and bass into their sets. While ‘Fresh Juice’ may not fit the typical soft airy vibes, it fits the energy of evolution that Louis The Child have carried as growing artists. The beginning of the song engages faint vocals before malicious bass interrupts the air waves. TroyBoi’s aid is very prominent throughout the bouncy drum structure as well as the Eastern influenced vocals during the breaks. ‘Fresh Juice’ is out now with an included mind-bending video as well as being a part of the newly released Candy II [Beat Tape].

Chicago based power duo Louis The Child have been riding their own waves in the music industry. After absolutely nailing their set at the 5th Annual FVDED In The Park in Surrey, British Columbia, it is safe to say Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett’s vibrant and eclectic sound can effortlessly bring a smile to your face in a heartbeat. From crafting festival anthems such as ‘Fire’ to dropping a contagious remix of Chance The Rapper’s ‘All Night,’ these producers always have a few tricks up their sleeves. This time the duo have finally dropped their bouncy remix of Skrillex, Boy’s Noise and Ty Dolla Sign’s ‘Midnight Hour.’

Just when we thought the highly anticipated track could not get any better, Louis The Child flawlessly transition Ty Dolla $ign’s soothing vocals to lead into a slow tempo drop of exotic flute instrumentals aligned with a City Girl’s sample kick to drive the track into full force. Cruising down the city with Louis The Child, the track continues to evolve as they bump the tempo up a notch with funky twists and a high-pitched future beat to get a little wonky. After playing the unreleased track at several shows, the duo decided it was time to share the love and we cannot be happier with the outcome.

With well over one hundred millions streams, Louis The Child’s Kids At Play EP certainly had a huge echo in the scene, pushing the career of the Chicago duo to a new level. On Spotify for example, the leading track of the project, ‘Better Not’ has nearly doubled the success of previous LTC classics like ‘It’s Strange’ or ‘Fire’.

Now, five months later, to keep the momentum, they’ve put together a remix pack with 9 brand new variations. They included material for every taste: House, Future Bass, Trap, weird stuff. Since we at FUXWITHIT are a bunch of weirdo bassheads, of course our favourites are included in the latest two.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/586690707″ params=”color=%23000eff&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Actually there’s a touch of romanticism in the story of msft.’s ‘Space Jam’ remix. It all started as one of his outstanding but unofficial remixes uploaded on SoundCloud. It wasn’t long before Interscope sensed the potential of the track and put it under contract. And they were damn right, we have to say. In its original version, ‘Space Jam’ is one of the most energetic tracks of the EP, but it keeps the gleeful and bright mood that characterizes Kids At Play. The Italian producer instead, after just teasing a similar atmosphere in the intro, unleashes a ferocious storm of filthy synths in the drop. It’s like acid techno squeezed in a bass format.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/586690266″ params=”color=%23000eff&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Unlike ‘Space Jam,’ which is completely instrumental, ‘Breaking News’ brings in emotions with RAYE’s vocals. This didn’t prevent Duke & Jones from going full guerrilla mode. The remix starts misleadingly like the original, just with a more trap base, but forty seconds after, you’re in another dimension. Horns, flutes, minimal drums; what once was a pop song, is now a first class trap dungeon banger.

You can stream the complete EP with other remixes by Party Pupils, Win&Woo, TAILS and more, below.

WayHome is less than a week away! Kicking off on Friday July 28th, the 3 day festival is assured to be one for the books with a wide array of talent. Headliners include Flume, Justice, Schoolboy Q, Frank Ocean, Porter Robinson and more. In addition to the top billed headliners is a slew of stellar must see acts. As you’ve come to expect, we’ve rounded up all the can’t miss (non-headlining) acts. Check the list below and let us know who you are most excited to see.

Danny Brown

Danny Brown’s energy effectively dominates and infects the crowd the second he hits any stage. A big smile and even bigger sound, the Detroit artist’s unique range of style never leaves room for a dull moment. A bite to his flow, and an undeniable steez, Danny Brown’s catalog is stacked with collaborations from Kendrick Lamar, Ab Soul and Earl Sweatshirt to DJ Shadow, Freddie Gibbs, Purity Ring and more. If this performance is anything like his new video for ‘Lost,’ we’re in for a trip. You are now entering the sometimes manic, sometimes abstract, always vivid dimension of Danny Brown. Get ready to move. Really doe. Catch Danny Brown at 12:15am on Friday at the WayAway stage.

Mura Masa

Mura Masa and summer are pretty much synonymous. His music perfectly encapsulates everything that makes the season so special while weaving in emotional and evocative elements for a sound that is spellbinding. His incredible self-titled album just dropped this month and this will be the first chance to hear him perform the project. His show goes beyond the typical DJ set, combining keys and drums for an engaging and unique experience. Although it isn’t listed, Masa has been known to tour and perform alongside vocalist/rapper Bonzai. If she’s there alongside Mura Masa, expect this to be one of the best sets of the weekend. If it turns out to be a solo set, it certainly won’t disappoint either. Mura Masa is one of the most impressive producers in music at the moment, find out why at 11:00pm on Saturday (WayAway).

Falcons

Falcons has been a FUXWITHIT favourite since we started the site. The LA producer has been heating up the summer with smashes like ‘Boo You Know (Ft. Goldlink)’ and ‘Want Your Body’.
Each song in the 6-track compilation leads to an overall happy-go-lucky feel that will get your toes tapping, which is what the duo’s best known for. Not only that, but each is backed with a perfectly selected vocalist, with the opening track featuring the vocals of the duo’s very own Freddy Kennett. Whether it’s the steel drums gently caressing the rhythm in ‘Slow Down Love’, or the peaceful, old-school “sippin’ on wine” feel of ‘World On Fire’, you’re bound to find a sense of euphoria as the EP takes you on its own whimsical journey. Check out Love Is Alive below, and let all of your problems melt away.

Louis The Child also announced some upcoming festival dates which they’ll be performing at this spring/summer! This isn’t the full list however; they’re going to announce more dates as times passes, so be on the lookout.

This past Friday Diplo rolled through Toronto for his annual Mad Decent Block Party. Taking place at Fort York the festival line-up was mixture of rising new stars and OGs. On the sunny Friday afternoon I took a trip down to revel in the annual excitement. After a thorough pat down and search I was let into the familiar world of MDBP. Along the right of the entry were rows of food trucks offering everything from wood oven pizza, to burritos, burgers, ice cream and more. There was more than enough food options to make skipping dinner with plans to eat there a solid choice. With Bud Light as a main sponsor it meant beer drinkers had one choice…Bud Light. While I understand the importance of corporate sponsorships I could’ve at least gone for a Budweiser or even a Bug Light Platinum (if that’s still a thing?). Other drink options included cider and your standard mixed drinks. After grabbing a beer and some food I headed into the action to catch Slushii heating up the party. Despite it being early in the day the young DJ had a solid sized crowd with great energy. His set consisted of smash hits (‘All I Do Is Win,’ ‘I Can’t Stop’,) dirty dubstep and some tracks that blended both (a nasty ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ remix).

Louis the Child

As Slushii’s set came to a close Louis The Child came on for a stellar set. The blend of future pop, future bass and touch of trap made for the perfect early evening programming. It was upbeat, embodying the summer weather with just enough hard hitting bangers. The QUIX remix of ‘After Hours’ was especially viscous while Lambo’s flip of Drake’s ‘Controlla’ had everyone singing along. The combination of great selection and energy made Louis The Child a surprise standout.

Grandtheft

Next up came one of Canada’s finest – Grandtheft. I’ve seen Grandtheft 8-10 times and have never been disappointed or tired of his sets. Although the set begin with some sound issues they were easily forgotten as he delivered the most impressive set of the evening. His ability to move between genres and stellar selection gave fans everything from trap classics like ‘Roll Up,’ to rap hits like ‘No Problem,’ and ‘Antidote’ and next level turnt anthems (think Herobust). From beginning to end Grandtheft rocked the crowd and impressed all.

NGHTMRE x Slander

NGHTMRE x Slander

NGHTMRE and Slander were up next for a 3 man b2b. They came out hard and kept the energy throughout. They had the crowd jumping on every drop and screaming for more on the builds. Their choice to mix in rock ballads and hip-hop classics seemed a bit disjointed to me but fans didn’t seem notice, eating it up and singing along at the top of their lungs. I can front, I got pretty into singing along to ‘Just A Friend’ too. By then the event was filling in heavy but thankfully beer lines never got out control, pointing to better organization than previous years.

Marshmello

Right before the finale from Mr. Mad Decent himself, came a set from marshmello, which prompted me to wonder how the hell an artist who’s existed for less than a year could land such a lucrative spot. After taking a look round and seeing the vast number of people rocking marshmello gear, from tees to home made marshmello helmets it was apparent his popularity is at it’s peak. Going into the set I didn’t have high expectations, writing him off as a shitty gimmick. His visuals of a dancing marshmello didn’t help his case but as the show progressed and the marshmello (in his visuals) began to get roasted I smiled and realized there’s an element of humor and ridiculousness that softened my hate. Sure some of his set was generic as possible future bass but he also mixed in some killer dubstep and trap bangers that made me wonder why I was hating on marshmello in the first. Sure it’s a gimmick, but he knows it, embraces and actually delivers beyond expectations.

Diplo

As the night drew to its climax it was time for Diplo to takeover Toronto. Diplo did what he does, delivering a set that rocked the crowd and was an undeniable highlight. At this point Diplo’s DJ sets almost feel like a victory lap. There’s nothing left for him to prove and he’s out to have as much fun as the fans are. That said, I’ve never had less than an awesome time at a Diplo show. He gives the people what they want while keeping the energy flowing. Whether it’s anthems from his deep catalog, Drake smashes or straight bangers, he had the crowd in the palm of his hand throughout. He jumped on the mic several times to further build excitement and reiterated that Toronto was his favourite (although he probably says that to every <del>girl</del> city). Despite all that, I would’ve loved to see him take a few more risks and play something really unique, it just felt a little to safe for a guy who incited mosh pits in the same space just a few years prior during the Full Flex tour. In the end, Block Party proved why it’s a mainstay in Toronto’s festival circuit and has me looking forward to next year.

I’ve seen some pretty huge remix releases before but this might be the biggest yet. Today, Louis The Child unleashed their ‘It’s Strange’ remix album featuring 20 tracks (currently 15 available for stream). With so many variations there’s at least one of two that are guaranteed to blow you away. Standouts includes reworks from Jailo, CRNKN, Boombox Cartel, and Wheathen.…

With so many variations there’s at least one of two that are guaranteed to blow you away. Standouts includes reworks from Jailo, CRNKN, Boombox Cartel, and Wheathen. But to be fair there isn’t a bad one in the bunch. Stream them all below and grab the album off iTunes. All proceeds are going to Kiva. What’s your favourite remix?
