The original is quintessential minimal trap, with Dabow making use of a repeated vocal sample, crisp percussion, and squeaky clean synths to drive an arm-swinging intensity. LYNY keeps that intensity intact but revamps it completely with a bass house touch in his remix. While this is not a style we have heard a lot from LYNY, the level at which it is executed demonstrates his undeniable talent as an artist. The remix takes time to build, as LYNY lures listeners in with a looming soundscape for exactly sixty seconds before giving any indication as to where he’s bringing his tension-filled introduction. As the drop hits, one can instantly recognize that the intrigue was well worth the wait, with the Chicago-based producer unleashing a barrage of bass house insanity that is sure to get you out of your seat. The flip is electric in energy and filled to the brim with fun, as the second drop brings added freshness and zest to the already-lively remix.

“I wanted to get LYNY on the remix pack cuz he’s one of my fav producers and also a super homie. Right when he sent the remix, I knew it was a banger, and super happy to hear different vibes from him,” Dabow says about getting LYNY to remix ‘Mami Work.’

Regarding the genre experimentation, LYNY adds, “It’s weird, I got the stems, listened to them once or twice and thought: “Mami Work would be a fire house lyric.” So, I threw down some large chords, airy elements, and made a little flow with the vocal line. The idea was super clear after that I was able to wrap this one up fairly quickly. I never really think about the genre when making a track. I just kind of go for it.”

The collaboration is truly everything that you ‘Want’ from LYNY & chromonicci. It’s a masterful melding of their collective styles that results in an early contender for trap banger of the year. A dizzying loop, snappy drums, and that hypnotic vocal instantly will have you locked in. When you can’t take the anticipation any longer a quick splice of silence explodes into a murderous trap drop that takes the genre back to its roots with a little extra oomph. The track’s second act sees it evolving while the vocals carry through. The second drop amplifies the bounce and epicness while the guitar outro adds a layer of depths that makes ‘Want’ nothing short of exceptional.

What’s crazy is I was a huge fan of Christian’s stuff from as early as 2016. Eventually, my buddy Kevin (Cozy Kev) worked with him in 2019-2020 and I think that was when he found my stuff. We connected on socials and he hit me up, and soon after we talked about a collaboration. I sent him an idea and he loved it. Then he went in and absolutely CRUSHED it. – LYNY

In addition to the aforementioned tracks LYNY blesses us with two new monster songs. ‘Flora’ opens the EP and sets the tone with powerful force. A cinematic intro gives way to an absolutely filthy halftime/dnb drop that’s dark, deep, and disgusting. This one feels like raving in an abandoned WWII bomb shelter. Linking with FLY for ‘Reason’ the two deliver an absolutely beastly concoction. Giving the track space serves to make it hit harder, proving that less is often more. The basslines will rattle your sense of existence and have you smashing that replay button for a quick digital wheel up. It’s a little deeper and darker than some of LYNY’s previous work but it’s just as potent.
