Mysteriousness is all the rave in music these days. From ZHU to UZ, Malaa to Marshmello; there’s something about not knowing who is creating the music we love that captivates us and makes the artist that much more intriguing. The latest artist (or artists?) to tap into this phenomenon is Somewhere Else. Little information is available on them right now, but whoever is behind this project definitely has some powerful connections. Their first single ‘Move Together’ features OVO’s own Majid Jordan and premiered on the prestigious OVO Sound radio show. The track combines the signature emotional R&B appeal of Majid Jordan with an upbeat electronic feel (think DJ Snake). CARTEL Puts a Housey Spin on Majid Jordan

Earlier this year OVO’s Majid Jordan dropped their debut album. The self titled effort features a slew of incredible works including the stand out single ‘Something About You’. The hazy vibe and alluring melodies made this one an instant hit. The original is so strong that pulling off a remix that does it proper justice is no easy feat. Thankfully up-and-coming Toronto producer CARTEL was up to the challenge. The remix gives the track a more upbeat, housey feel while still retaining the depth of emotion. Skillful vocal bends set the tone for a wonky deep house drop that’s primed for the club. Stream below.

The OVO duo recently dropped their debut album; a self-titled LP that takes the listener on a journey from start to finish. As you may already know, Majid Jordan hail from Toronto and this project really encapsulates their growth as singers and songwriters but also the development of their sound. After about a year and a half from their EP A Place Like This, Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman return with a stronger grasp on their sound and deliver a project that reflects the vastness of the city’s night life and what its like to fall in and out of love in the city. Majid Jordan & Drake connect for ‘My Love’

The last time OVO Sound signees Majid Jordan got together with Drake they knocked out the massive pop hit ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’. Today they’re back again, taking a slightly different direction on ‘My Love’. The emotionally driven downtempo sound feels more at home in a dingy lounge or break up playlist than across the radio airwaves. That said, a catchy hook and guest verse from Drake are almost guaranteed to make this a smash. Check out the track below and listen to vibey mix they uploaded yesterday. This may be the start of something huge, look out for Majid Jordan taking over the back half of 2015.

Majid Jordan – Forever

OVO’s Majid Jordan just dropped the official video for their joint ‘Forever’ off the A Place Like This EP and the visuals are just as enchanting as the song. The Urban Pop duo dropped their EP earlier this fall and garnered some major props for bringing about a fresh sound. ‘Forever’ is a joint that features light vocals with a progressive beat and the video features a young man bringing the vocals to life as he dances around Toronto. Majid Jordan- A Place Like This (Hunt for the Breeze Edit)

Hunt For the Breeze is a name that has quickly piqued my interest. I hadn’t really checked him out him until the release of Moving Castle Vol 002, but as soon I heard a few seconds of ‘Transmission Loop’ I knew it was time to take note. After clicking through his SoundCloud I realized that he was a seriously a dope producer and also learned that he was one of the founders of Moving Castle (a collective of some of the hottest producers out right now). His latest release is an edit of Majid Jordan’s infectious new single ‘A Place Like This’. The rework is a bit grittier than the original with the addition of some hard hitting drums. ‘A Place Like This’ and Hunt For The Breeze are both about to blow up, so you might as well check them out now.
