Setting himself up concretely as one of the most forward-thinking minds in all of dubstep, Australia’s Marauada, formerly known as Mastadon, has catapulted himself into the limelight in recent years with his own trademarked brand of excessively heavy music. Dazzling millions of ravenous headbangers with his first breakthrough track ‘Casket‘, which he’s followed up with the likes of ‘Dong‘, ‘Death Pit‘, and scores of massively successful remixes for various dons in the industry. The next evolution for him was starting his own imprint to continue his campaign of sonic dominance, which he made a reality earlier this year with the birth of Malignant Music, a cozy home for all productions that spike blood pressure levels to nearly irresponsible levels. They released their first compilation album in the form of Malignant Vol. 1 just 3 months ago, and it’s already made tidal waves of success throughout the community. Now, Marauda is back, and taking absolutely no prisoners with his latest release ‘Avoidable Cause.’

As soon as the first note sounds in ‘Avoidable Cause’, you know you’re in for a wild ride, so strap-in securely, the rollercoaster is nearing its peak. As the cart ticks ever-faster up the track, your adrenaline sends shockwaves of energy coursing throughout your entire being. Imbuing you with ungodly, satanic pulsations that instantly deck you out in a powerful, all-black aesthetic. ‘Avoidable Cause’ should be avoided at all costs at any child’s birthday party, unless you want your children to start rocking pashminas and pinecones as their daily attire. The first part of the initial drop is punishing enough, but then it kicks things into overdrive with unrelenting sustained notes that pack as much punch as a hurricane at full force. Devastating anything that stumbles into its path, it’s more than a force to be reckoned with, it could potentially be a sign of the end of times. For fans of stupid-heavy pieces, this one is assuredly top-tier content. Check it out for yourself below!

Boasting a terrorizing sound capable of destroying the strongest of foundations, MARAUDA has quickly catapulted to the top of dubstep scene through a relentless approach to heavy music. With releases on some of the biggest labels in the game such as Never Say Die and Disciple Round Table, the Sydney-based producer has proven his strengths time and time again, but he has recently started to release music on his own personal imprint, Malignant Music. Prior to last week, only he had put out music on the label, but all that has now changed in massive fashion. Opening the platform to fellow heavy-hitters, Malignant Music has unleashed its debut compilation titled Malignant Vol. 1, and it’s bigger and better than one could even fathom.

What do you get when you take the hottest names in the dubstep scene, round up some of their most anticipated unreleased material, and package it all into one devastating ensemble? The answer is Malignant Vol. 1. One might think this is an exaggeration, but a quick look through the tracklist reveals the true catastrophic nature of this compilation. From the label-head himself releasing the guttural ‘Laryngitis’ and the ridiculous ‘Blunder 2.0,’ to Aweminus and Subfiltronik finally delivering their highly-awaited ‘Subminus,’ veterans are well-represented in Malignant Vol. 1. Add to that some boundary-pushing up-and-comers such as Hukae, Papa Khan and SYZY, as well as established big guns Calcium and Krischvn, and one gets the debut Malignant Music compilation. Don’t miss it below.

Marauda is not human. The Australian artist who boasts a menacing sound that decimates everyone and everything in its path has quickly emerged as one of the top players in the bass scene due to the carnage that every track in his repertoire creates. His 2020 dubplate showcase released at the end of January gave fans a glimpse into what’s in store for the year, and the most anticipated ID from the mix, namely ‘Nefarious’ (previously titled ‘Harakiri’), has been unleashed to the masses today.

The full version of ‘Nefarious’ is even more gruelling and aggressive than the teaser in the best way possible. The introduction is looming and ominous, before a quick change of pace brings about the madness. “You’re pretty good, but your style is no match for mine” might just be the most accurate pre-drop vocal in a dubstep track. The sample catapults ‘Nefarious’ into a barrage of loud bass stabs and terrorizing synths that are sure to send any crowd into a headbanging frenzy. The second half is even more haunting and pulverizing than the first, as Marauda showcases his abilities to keep one hooked from start to finish. Don’t miss ‘Nefarious’ below.

Ceaselessly displaying a production prowess well beyond his years, MARAUDA (formerly known as Mastadon) has deserved every bit of recognition he has earned over the last few years. From releasing on the biggest labels in the game to taking on the bass scene’s biggest stages, the Australian producer has been a decimating force in the heavy dubstep scene that has only continued to climb the ranks with each and every release.

After unleashing a few of his highly-anticipated IDs back in June on the SHIT VOL. 1 EP, MARAUDA underwent a slight shift in image, which left a few fans sceptical about his future direction. Today, all doubt is put at ease with the release of the ELEVATE EP, as the old MARAUDA we’ve come to love has only come back stronger than ever.

The first two tracks of the three-track project, namely ‘ELEVATE’ and ‘BLUNDER,’ are exactly what one would expect from the talented Aussie. Menacing synths paired with blaring mixdowns will melt your brain for the entirety of both tracks, with repeated switch-ups keeping you on your toes (if you’re still standing, that is). Loud and aggressive yet clean and precise, ‘ELEVATE’ and ‘BLUNDER’ are added reminders of MARAUDA’s wicked production abilities.

However, it’s in the project’s last track ‘HOME’ that MARAUDA really shows a new level of depth to his skills. First teased on his MOOG account, ‘HOME’ is truly unlike anything we’ve ever heard before. It’s riddled with crisp dubstep sound design yet evokes melancholy through its wistful melodies. The SoundCloud comments on the original clip are full of people simply trying to place the song within a genre, and we can say with confidence that it does not belong anywhere. ‘HOME’ is in a class of its own, elevating MARAUDA among the best (pun intended).

Don’t miss the ELEVATE EP below.
