The vast abilities of these artists are truly unmatched. Alison Wonderland with her stellar production and vocals combined with MEMBA‘s wild imagination and flexible techniques have proven to be equally compatible in vision. Both worlds impact the industry by storm with their broad and impressive discography of gems. And now, with their passions colliding with unlimited possibilities, they’ve finally released their first collaboration,’ Fight or Flight.’ What makes this even more special is that this is Alison’s first release on her own record label, FMU Records. So you already know this one is going to make some noise through both fan bases and listeners all over.

This track is absolutely gorgeous in every sense. The eerie and magical melody combined with Alison’s blissful range sets the stage in a unique and intoxicating environment. Making you feel the excitement build and build through each second. And while those sporadic shakers going off in the back along with cinematic drums, you get a sense that something monumental is about to show its true colors. Easily sensing MEMBA’s spiritual and earth-shattering presence throughout. Making listeners even more curious and intrigued.

Once the chorus presents itself, everything changes while still harnessing that same insidious energy from the beginning. Now when it comes to MEMBA’s sound design, they hold absolutely nothing back. No matter the piece, they’ll bring down the house in any way they can. It’s the spirit of their mind-bending sounds that make the chorus section very special. The bass line throughout is so refreshing, light in tone yet heavy in execution. Taking center stage with the help of an electrifying vocal lead to bring it all together beautifully. Repeating the same phrase over and over again. Pitched up with a delayed feel to add another layer of rhythmic structure. Hearing both of their styles intertwine is simply breathtaking from beginning to end. Easily making this one a classic for themselves and the label. A festival smasher to say the least. So make sure to show your support by streaming ‘Fight or Flight’ everywhere via FMU Records!

Making another step for music history, MEMBA return with their sequel project PHASE II. A three track body of work which celebrates and honors the cycles of life we all experience. Sharing the topic of evolution and conquering new challenges to improve our own selves. Never letting life go to waste. Living every moment like it were your last. Having a positive and beautiful response to PHASE I, they wanted to continue this story of elegance and discovery with this next chapter. And what’s even more impressive is the different approach and showing us another brand new side to their project. Exfoliating the past and moving forward and higher with their project and personal selves. But they’re not alone, because with the help of Tzar, Ricky James and Mark Johns, they’re all taking this path of evolution to learn new skills and embrace the process every step of the way. Because no one can go at it alone.

PHASE II is a natural remedy to heal all spirits. A true expedition of discovery within one’s self. Figuring out how to develop into something much greater than before. But with this EP, it’s not about the brightness of the destination, but about the cherished and priceless journey. From high-quality arrangements to gorgeous textures, MEMBA made sure to deliver with passion and adoration as always.

Each piece holds a similar aura surrounding it but has separating factors to make them unique and their own stories. Aiming for a similar purpose and deliverance as the rest of the EP. There’s nothing but enticing and soulful characteristics which fill up the space for a grand effect on the listener. Experiencing something you’ve never felt or heard before. And with the power of the voice, Tzar, Ricky James and Mark Johns all share the spotlight to showcase impactful and tear-jerking melodies to bring it all together. Helping to build some of MEMBA’s best work to date. So make sure to go support all of these legends by streaming the PHASE II everywhere!

Today, the talented artists finally unleash SAGA-II in full and we couldn’t be more excited.

“After the filthiness that was ‘SAGA-I,’ we decided to come back with something drastically different. The new EP offers 7 songs that convey life on ‘SAGA-II,’ a planet of newfound awareness where people accept life and death as they are, using it to live better now,” MEMBA state about the theme of their newest project. By more than doubling the number of tracks from the first instalment, the New York-based producers really showcase their evolution as artists with SAGA-II.

From the aforementioned tracks to the four new songs, MEMBA have created an emotion-driven piece in SAGA-II. Using melodies and layers of carefully selected sounds throughout the tracks, MEMBA drive home the theme of exploration the of past and uncertainty of the future to live in the present. From the introductory ‘1 More Mile,’ a sense of journey is instilled upon listeners through the rhythmic feel of the track. ‘Boundless’ sees the producers return to their old style to give energy to this adventure through time, while ‘Smara’ is simply a feel-good anthem reminding listeners to enjoy the moment. The vocal-centric ‘Alright With Me’ is the cherry on top of the incredible body of work that is SAGA-II. Don’t miss this epic release and the official video below.

Full of explosive percussion and a rattling bassline drive from the outset, ‘Flash’ is given weight as its vocal murmurs begin to take hold to keep you locked in throughout. MEMBA’s creative minds have gone to work and whipped up a killer track here. No doubt it will be receiving praise from a whole host of successful fellow producers in the coming months, not to mention growing their fanbase.

A flick through the tune catalogue of New Zealand’s bass/trap creator Ian Munro and it’s hard to not see what an extraordinary talent he has. With projects for the likes of Quality Goods regularly reaching the masses, make sure you don’t overlook wicked remixes for the likes of Mt Eden, UZ and QUIX.

His most recent single ‘Right Now’ ft. Yuneer Gainz can be checked out here, and give his 5 track Floor Fillers selection a listen below.

MEMBA & Mothica – ‘Chasing Light’

The power and emotion in this track gets me every time. It’s not shy of sounding too ‘pop-y’ and it’s not shy of sounding too weird. MEMBA have been killing it recently.

Taska Black – ‘We Would Never Do’ (feat. Nevve)

I’m a big fan of what Taska does – and this track perfectly combines the energy of bass music and the musicality and emotion that it often lacks.

Rich The Kid – ‘Listen Up’ (prod. LMC & Danny Wolf)

Huge shoutout to the homie LMC representing NZ with this placement. Best track off the album in my opinion.

Illenium – ‘Leaving’ (AWAY Remix)

I have a lot of respect for anyone who does things differently. AWAY’s latest releases have been nothing short of impeccable and this remix is no exception.

Lemay – ‘Over Me’ (feat. Maize)

One of the more overlooked songs on his EP – this one is just too weird not to love. The rhythm and the synths shouldn’t work, but they do.

Despite the constant hate that SoundCloud receives, it is still by far the best platform for music discovery. Every month we find a slew of new artists that completely amaze and win us over. With this in mind, we decided to launch a new feature that brings our monthly finds to the forefront. Today marks the first edition of Focus Five, a collaborative feature from Colin & Oggie. Each month we’ll be showcasing five fantastic new finds and let you know why you need to be listening them. This month we’ve got a nice cross section: from multi-genre producers, to cinematic future beat-makers and wall-shaking bass producers. Check the list below and let us know your favorites.

Gladez

You know the feeling where it seems everyone you follow is suddenly reposting that one artist? Last month that artist was Gladez. It started with ‘Mile High Club’ but happened again with his ‘Olé’ remix. While the former caught my attention, it was the latter that put me on notice. Flipping a track that massive is no easy feat but Gladez’s remix of ‘Olé’ not only did the original justice but took it to new heights. If aggressive, wall-shaking bass music is your shit, Gladez is your guy.

MEMBA

My introduction to NYC duo MEMBA came with their most recent release ‘Middle Man‘ and while I was blown away, I only became further flummoxed by their slew of head spinning sounds. They say their production style sees “world-influenced exploration of rhythm,” but I’m not sure what world they’re referring to, because even in this golden age of electronic music, I’ve never heard anything tweaked quite this way. The vocals from Asher Don in the aforementioned track are excellent, but it’s not a one off for MEMBA, who are undeniably adept at building beds for ballads and bops alike. Explore their awesome range in curated playlists of their own productions ‘Dutty‘ and ‘Calm.’
–OJ

nine plus

I first came upon nine plus with his phuture collective release ‘Into The Sun’. The pairing of stunning and intoxicating vocals with an aggressive and massive trap energy was spellbinding. In the span of a month he’s since released two more exceptional tracks that not only highlight his talents but also his versatility. ‘This Way?’ draws inspiration from Sam Gellaitry without feeling too similar. It’s groovy and uplifting with just the right amount of bounce. ‘End Game‘ finds itself between the two. A deep space slapper with just a touch of upbeat undertones. With just over a thousand followers on SoundCloud, it’s still early days for the producer, but we expect those numbers to explode in the near future.
-C

samsin

Every so often you hear a song that completely mesmerizes you; where music shifts from the background of what ever it is you’re doing and becomes the only thing that exists for a short period. This is what happened the first time I heard samsin. ‘Spectrum’ entered my ears and invited my mind into another world. Cinematic, entrancing and foreign yet familiar. It was like taking a trip to an exotic locale that also instantly felt like home. There’s a thread of magic that runs through Samsin’s music; an intangible energy and beauty that you just feel. Don’t believe me? Just listen to ‘Forest Floor‘ and ‘Augment’.
–C

underscores

It’s not often you come across an artist that 1) is capable of producing quality chill funk and aggressive bass cuts and 2) finds it unnecessary to divide those sounds into two distinct projects or monikers, but that’s the case with underscores. You never quite know what you’re going to get from him, whether it be the most metallic and mean bass bangers like ‘the city with no wind‘ or fun funky and groove of ‘twisted lines‘, there’s always the underlying quality of underscores. There’s dozens of options to illustrate his musical majesty, but let us offer these two awe-inspiring, enigmatic instances: ‘pause’ and ‘the niche market,’ a mashup of 84 (EIGHTY FOUR!) sounds and tracks, video below.
