Many people create artwork, but not many ascend to the level of a true master of their craft. Michigan native Anderson Benoit, also known by his Mersiv alias, has showcased time and time again that he has more than a knack for curating some of the most splendid bass-heavy audible creations of the past several years. With the releases of his Paradise and Solar Vision EP’s already this year, he’s unveiled the evolution of his updated sound and continued his trend of unstoppable success. Now, he’s back at it again with a downtempo heater of epic proportions in the form of ‘Osmosis.’

Deep, rich, and undeniably powerful, ‘Osmosis’ is a deep dive into just how electrifying downtempo pieces can be. As delectable and enticing as a scrumptious chocolate cake, this is a piece that will leave listeners feeling more than fulfilled, even broaching on ‘engorged’ territory. Immaculate layering and lush melodies create a sense of drifting through space and time, calm serenity at the forefront of listeners’ minds as their consciousness ascends to plains they never knew possible. If you need to afford yourself a brief moment of peace for your mind, body, and soul, this is a miraculous tool to achieve just that. Check out the tranquil beauty that is ‘Osmosis’ for yourself below!

What do you get when you mix an OG don of dubstep and one of the hottest young acts in bass? Ask the likes of Jantsen and Mersiv, respectively. Jantsen Robertson, or Jantsen for short, has been making tyrannical productions for over a decade now with multiple collaborations with the likes of Bassnectar, Dirt Monkey, and many other heavy hitters fueling the flames of the industry. Anderson Benoit, known for spearheading his Mersiv Sound Project, was one of our favorite acts of 2019, between his diabolical live sets across the country and immensely powerful studio productions. Now, with everyone cooped up inside, confined to their living rooms, it’s almost unfair that this dreamteam releases ‘Get Crazy’, out on Wakaan, to the world.

‘Get Crazy’ is one of those bangers that deserves a sea of rabid fans eagerly awaiting to break their necks and wreck themselves down to their very core. From the beginning synths, you’ll have the unmistakable feeling that you’re about to lose your mind. The looped vocal sample of ‘get crazy’ doesn’t help the case for your mental status either, and the drums haven’t even hit yet. Adding in a foreboding siren in the background and thick drums underneath, and you’ll be headed straight for the psych ward. The build should come with a warning sign of “might cause frenzies,” right before decking you with a bone-shattering wall of some of the most disgusting bass you’ll ever have the pleasure of listening to. The spooky ambiance is readily palpable, and goes hand-in-hand perfectly with the aesthetic, title, and energy of the piece. Intimidating, Immense, and borderline immoral, this piece should be eviscerating fanbases at every big bass festival across the country, but awkwardly headbanging to your heart’s content in your living room will have to suffice for now. Check out the madness that is ‘Get Crazy’ for yourself below!

With immaculate bass design and drilling frequencies in his favor, UK producer Conrank has been building a fan base of dubstep and bass driven enthusiasts since day one. From spending years as a recognized artist which included an 8 year residency in Shanghai, Conrank has been spreading his contagious production style to listeners globally. Continuing to build his imprint in the bass community, Conrank has called upon Denver bass producer Mersiv to showcase their experimental production style with the release of their massive single ‘NO.’ Warning, this one may get a little wonky.

Released on Circus Records, these two influential producers do not play around when it comes to delivering a track infused with dark basslines and face melting sounds. As Conrank and Mersiv invite their listeners to join them in the countdown of slow tempo chimes and subtle drum claps, no one is nearly prepared for what is to come. With nasty frequencies and echoing sound samples phasing in and out of the track, both producers masterfully incorporate their signature sound to provide that bass fix we all need in our lives. Instead of saying “NO” to this song, blast it on repeat.

sfam have been blurring the lines between trap and experimental bass for the past few years. Renowned for their minimal yet incredible sound design, the duo never ceases to impress. With their upcoming EP shadows due out tomorrow on Wakaan, we have the pleasure of giving you an early taste of what to expect with the premiere of ‘Don’t Test Me’. Easily one of the project’s standouts, sfam connect with Mersiv and rapper quaviusblack for an insane ride into the darkness. Opening with the vocal loop “don’t test me, motherfucker I said it,” they let you know from the outset it’s about to get hectic. As the percussion builds, the track explodes into a brain-bending array of wonk. Distorted bass is layered with the haunting vocal and snappy drum work for a disorienting ride. Constantly evolving and progressing, the madness deepens with each passing second as it builds and drops several times over. sfam and mersiv are masters in sound design and ‘Don’t Test Me’ is a reminder that they are not to be tested.

sfam admit this one didn’t come together quickly saying,“the collab with mersiv took a while because of both our schedules being so busy and we don’t live near each other but we’re very happy we waited for it to be finished. quaviusblack brought a couple of the tunes to life vocally like he always does. He’s the only rapper we’ve ever had on any of our tracks and we know we can always count on him to come through with some fire.” We can assure you this one was the worth the wait. Stream it below and look out for shadows on Wakaan tomorrow.

Birthed in 2015, the Mersiv Sound Project is centered upon the ideation of remaining sentient within the present moment, utilizing complex soundscapes and contrasting emotional elements to create a sense of the ‘here and now’ within his music. Fresh off a two-part release, New Kids On Da Block alongside Laika Beats & Knat Turner, the ever-evolving Denver producer returns to Wakaan Records yet again for ‘Beautiful & Filthy,’ this time teaming up with fellow Colorado vocalist Chill Bobby for a smoothly delivered lyrical punchline.

“‘Beautiful & Filthy’ explains that our emotions are OURS and that we control them. No matter what’s going on around us, however FILTHY it may be, we can always find a path to something BEAUTIFUL in our minds,” Chill Bobby imparts regarding the deeper symbolic connotation of the track.

Be sure to check out ‘Beautiful & Filthy’ from the Mersiv Sound Project, featuring vocals from Chill Bobby, out now via Wakaan Records! Don’t miss him at Wakaan Festival next month.

An enrapturing harmony slips gradually into perception as the layers of ‘Dopamine’ begin to unravel. Nimble snares meet synergistically with a captivating vocal lead as a bizarrely extraterrestrial melody looms overhead. Sudden haste in tempo presents a perceptible shift in cadence before a distorted vocal sample unleashes a rippling torrent of freeform energy.

Indicative of both Mersiv & Laika Beats ability to craft depth and texture within each release, ‘Dopamine’ is not a track you’ll want to miss.
