Executive Director of LoFreq Records and proprietor of deep, cavernous bass cuts, Jalaya Frisella Kunst lives by the mission of harmonizing rhythmic euphoria and a unity-centric vision produced under the guise Jalaya. The San Francisco based artist harnesses his prior capacity as a drummer to concoct riveting basslines in his original works as well as a key facet of his live performances.

Hand-selected as one eight finalists proffered to work congruously with the title track from Moniker’s latest SATURATERECORDS EP, Jalaya sets to work with his own unique twist to ‘Encryption.’ A distinct warbling, pierced by a repetitive clicking, like the distinct sound of high-heeled footsteps on a marble floor, presents the entrance to the track. Preserving and highlighting the unmistakable digital groove in the harmony of the original track, Jalaya’s signature quickly becomes distinguishable as acute percussion perforate the foreground before the tune veers suddenly towards a thumping gauntlet of bass, fringed with lively synth work and charismatic digital fills.

Featuring exceptional conservation of originality and well-augmented treatment of his own, Jalaya’s remix of Moniker’s ‘Encryption’ is one you simply won’t forget.

It’s compilation season out here in the wide world of bass music, and we are so pleased to have the opportunity to support the newly minted Lofreq Records with the premiere of “Back in the Game”, an incredible new heater from Moniker. Setting the stage for the Cypher Vol. 1 collection dropping this month on the 26th, “Back in the Game” is a fantastically dark and trappy robotic slapper that flexes some seriously gangster vibes and gives us an exciting taste of the things we can expect from the compilation this Tuesday.

Representing the Bay Area and beyond, Cypher Vol. 1 is going to come absolutely loaded with diverse, out of this world heaters boasting pulse pounding basslines and wildly intricate sound design that aims to represent the darker, more alien side of west coast bass culture. Tunes from Tripzy Leary, Jalaya, Edekit, & Torbjørn only represent a small portion of the talent packed into this debut record, so mark those calendars because this is definitely a can’t miss for bass music fans everywhere.

Experimental bass alchemist Moniker has maintained exceptional production integrity since first stepping into the scene with the Thousand Bit EP released via SATURATERECORDS in May of 2015. Thoroughly established for his unparalleled beat-making aptitude, Moniker possesses a finely-tuned ear for the hidden production subtleties that contribute to an all-around cohesive listening experience that has become closely associated with each of his releases.

Returning to SATURATERECORDS for his latest EP, Encryption further builds upon a foundation of granular synth work providing a riveting, spatial audible experience that stimulates each human sensation.

‘Forever and Never’ provides an abbreviated fragment from the scope of the larger Encryption project. Utilizing soft, precipitous chords and languid floral synths, Moniker begins to build an immediate sense of anticipation which he leverages ingeniously to establish a tactful, yet shockingly pleasant, contrast with gritty synths in the drop.

‘Forever and Never’ marks the second track to release from Moniker’s forthcoming Encryption EP. Be sure to check out the full project out via SATURATERECORDS on Nov. 12 and keep your eyes out for a chance to catch the Encryption Tour live!

This one flew under the radar last week, but we are so glad to have caught it again in our SoundCloud stream. If you fux with bass music, chances are you’ve probably come across one if not both of these names in your journey through the weird wild world of computer sounds. Chops Junkie and Moniker have been making noise in the west coast & midwest respectively for a several years now, and with Moniker’s recent exodus to the California, anyone even remotely familiar with their individual styles knew a collaboration was inevitable.

‘Pull the Pin’ flexes the strengths of both artists into a squishy, metallic, wonked-out, dubstep heater that succeeds by synthesizing a classic song structure from a truly twisted array of bouncy, gritty and punched up sounds. This tune is sure to be gracing many a sound system as festival season winds down. Dubstep has had a long strange journey through the west coast over the years, so it’s always refreshing to see it done proper.

Well played boys.
