MURS spits a wide range of bars that contrast the norm, from calling out “gang bang bullies,” to asking you to put your phone down and expressing his distaste for club life. With Halloween only a day away, I couldn’t think of a more fitting tbt then this. Back in 2009 when Dubstep was just beginning to make noise in North America, underground legend Murs decided to jump on Chase & Status’ ‘Madhouse’ . The creepy intro, eerie organ and dark laughter make this a Halloween favourite. Add the fact that “the bass with blow your chest off “ and I don’t think you could ask for much more. Murs rides the gritty Dubstep anthem dropping party bars and tieing in the production seamlessly. The lyrics vividly capture the scene of a sweaty basement rave (“The bass kick hits low, certified schizo, Ears ringing all night, you know how this shit go) and will have you checking local listings for the next Dubstep show. MURS x CURTISS KING – $hut Your Trap – Free Download

Now this is something I wasn’t expecting! Underground legend MURS teamed up with Curtiss King for the free $hut Your Trap EP. Best known for his collaborations with 9th Wonder, hearing MURS over Trap beats is interesting to say the least. MURS stays to true to himself dropping mature, intelligent and thought provoking bars he’s known for. Every track knocks and MURS lyrical abilities are never up for questioning. On Mo$ Def he showcases his wordplay skills, “She got a Fat Booty, I’m so Ecstatic, She got that New World Water, what’s the Mathematics? True Magic, She newly Tatted”. That’s just one example of killer bars featured on this tape. Even if you’re not a fan of conscious or lyrical rap it’s worth peeping for the beats alone.
