MUST DIE!‘s dominance over bass music is unrivaled. With limitless technical abilities and creativity, the Seattle-based producer has remained among the elite for years now, continuously outdoing himself and the rest of the industry time and time again. While there was never any doubt about this, the release of CRISIS VISION last year cemented MUST DIE! as one of the best in the game, showcasing his unique multi-faceted approach to production.

Since the album’s release, MUST DIE! has gone on to remix his own ‘NIHILISM BEGINS AT HOME’ as well as Trampa and Space Laces’ ‘Shank,’ and now the artist returns with another quintessential single to scratch that MUST DIE! itch once more. Released via Never Say Die, ‘ANGELWARE’ further demonstrates that nobody can do it like MUST DIE!. “‘ANGELWARE’ was written on a flight and the entire drop is just one sound stretched and mangled over and over again,” the artist states about his latest – which might be hard to believe given the diversity of textures in the drops. The track is a welcome reminder that innovation in dubstep is not impossible to find, with MUST DIE! unleashing a fresh dosage of ground-shattering bass without forgetting about the impact of an electric introduction. ‘ANGELWARE’ is exhilarating from start to finish. Don’t miss it below.

MUST DIE!‘s CRISIS VISION LP is undoubtedly a contender for bass album of the year due to its sheer diversity and to the elite-level execution of each different style. From individual works to unlikely collaborations, the fourteen-track journey explores just about every realm of bass music, and only further attests to the legendary status that MUST DIE! has earned over his lengthy career in the production game.

Looking to keep the momentum from the project alive, MUST DIE! and Never Say Die are now treating fans to yet another fourteen-track collection titled CRISIS VISION: REDUX. With a new, equally gut-wrenching take on ‘NIHILISM BEGINS AT HOME’ from the Seattle-based veteran as well as thirteen more enthralling remixes, this new ensemble sees familiar and fresh faces take on various tracks from CRISIS VISION, with each providing an interesting touch to the masterfully crafted originals.

When the first remix from CRISIS VISION: REDUX, namely Good Times Ahead’s take on ‘SORROW TECH,’ dropped in early July, the Jersey-club-turned-dubstep remix set the stage for all to expect the unexpected. Habstrakt followed up with a quintessential bass house rendition of ‘LOL OK,’ before more remixes slowly started appearing throughout the week leading up to today. From Never Say Die favourites such as Kompany, BadKlaat, and Trampa delivering a heavy dose of brutal bass, to newcomers such as Frantik (who actually won the ‘CHAOS‘ remix contest) and Slippy making their debut on the label, the album features a wide array of talent from across the bass scene. Additional heavy-hitters such as TYNAN, Nitepunk, Tisoki and Jiqui also contribute with incredible remixes of the originals. While it’s is difficult to pick a favourite from such a stacked list of names, personal favourites include Syzy’s chaotic, crunchy and metallic flip of ‘FUCK UR STYLE’ and Aweminus and Oolacile’s unexpected rock-dubstep hybrid take on ‘DELETE IT ALL.’ Unexpected, right?

Don’t miss out on CRISIS VISION: REDUX below.

Having supported MUST DIE! for years now, it’s difficult to come up with new words to describe how influential his artistry has been on the bass realm. Veteran, legend, pioneer – all words used repeatedly to describe the Seattle-based creative, and all accurate descriptions. The real genius of MUST DIE!, though, has to be his ability to continuously innovate in a saturated scene often laced with cookie-cutter tracks. Despite being a household name in the dubstep community, genre-fluidity runs deep through MUST DIE!’s veins, and his newest album out via Never Say Die titled CRISIS VISION is the only proof one needs.

CRISIS VISION has been a long time coming. The artwork from singles dating back to March 2020 all contribute to the album’s final artwork, indicating that the vision (no pun intended) behind the collection had been conceptualized far before any fans could have even imagined. The time put into the project is incredibly evident throughout, with every single piece being equally impressive on its own, but collectively coming together to form a truly mesmerizing ensemble. Aside from the ingenious dubstep singles ‘NERVE DAMAGE,’ ‘SORROW TECH‘ and ‘LOL OK‘ alongside Skream and Akeos, MUST DIE! had previously released the hardstyle-leaning ‘HELLBURST‘ as well as the infectious bass house bop ‘DON’T EVEN BOTHER‘ featuring The Pom-Poms. That’s three genres in five singles, all executed to perfection, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

From the absolutely gut-wrenching opener, ‘NIHILISM BEGINS AT HOME,’ to portions of other tracks such as ‘ERROR’ with onumi, there’s no shortage of dubstep in the rest of the project, too. However, it’s the versatility beyond that envelope that makes CRISIS VISION such an exquisite album. Expecting a drum and bass heater between MUST DIE! and IMANU? Think again, but the former has got you covered in ‘BODY SCREAM.’ Rave anthems, late-night club beats, and mind-melting bass can all be found in CRISIS VISION. And while bass-centric albums are now becoming few and far between, largely due to artists stagnating on a style or sound, CRISIS VISION is sure to keep you hooked from start to finish due to its sheer diversity. Don’t miss it below.

Three pioneers of bass music. One unlikely collaboration. ‘LOL OK’ is the product of a teaming between MUST DIE!, Akeos and Skream out today via Never Say Die, and yes, you read that correctly.

It’s difficult to imagine a world where the three aforementioned artists could come together on a track without a single hiccup, but upon further inspection, it actually makes more sense than not. While all three artists need no introduction, a deeper dive into each’s contribution to electronic music quickly reveals the logic behind the collaborative madness. Skream is a dubstep pioneer, bringing the genre to the masses in the UK and, despite not being as active in the bass community in recent years, has undoubtedly paved the way for the genre today. MUST DIE! is a revolutionary in North America, with consistently unique releases since early last decade solidifying his legend status in the modern scene. Finally, few have seen as meteoric a rise as Akeos over the last couple of years, as the young talent has quickly become a trailblazer in their own right. So, actually, referring back to the first sentence of this article, ‘LOL OK’ oddly makes sense.

As the final single from MUST DIE!’s upcoming CRISIS VISION album out on May 21st, ‘LOL OK’ destroys all notions of what one should expect from the trifecta of producers, falling under the broad umbrella of bass music but defying our understanding of dubstep one bar at a time. It’s got an old-school bassline and flow, but is layered with cutting-edge sound design, and a menacing second-half switch up attest to the raw genius of all involved. Words can’t do this one justice, so we implore you to dive in below and to give it a few spins to truly appreciate its ingenuity.

King of mesmerizing introductions and of using various influences within his bass productions, few have shown such limitless musical prowess as MUST DIE! has since his early works. Always managing to create set favourites through his menacing sound design and unparalleled songwriting, the Seattle-based producer has been at the helm of the Never Say Die ship for many years now, and for good reason.

Hot off his genre-defying remix for Kompany’s ‘Feel It All,’ MUST DIE! returns to his home imprint for his first original of the calendar year, ‘SORROW TECH.’ A unique combination of chaotic frequencies, sharp basses and infectious rhythm, ‘SORROW TECH’ showcases the veteran at his best, but honestly, when is he not at his best. The introduction boasts the unnerving signature that the talented artist has mastered with his latest releases, gradually building to a meticulous display of dubstep creativity. Energetic and intense without being overbearing or too over-the-top, the drop sections of ‘SORROW TECH’ are equally tailored to living room listening as they are to drive-in rave madness.

MUST DIE! doesn’t miss. Check out ‘SORROW TECH’ below.

As one of Kompany‘s most popular tracks of 2020, ‘Feel It All’ saw the veteran producer expand his horizons with a more melodic sound without escaping his heavy signature stomp. The track, released via Never Say Die, was tailored to close off festival sets with a bang, and while it might not have served that exact purpose last year, it certainly provided a welcome addition to Kompany’s impressive repertoire of quality tunes.

Today, the euphoric track gets a remix treatment from four of bass music’s most solid forces, namely MUST DIE!, Oolacile, and Akeos and Syzy. The former kicks off with an old school rave introduction that MUST DIE! has perfected in his latest releases, where the legend layers the originals vocals overtop his playful melodies. The drops are equally as mesmerizing as the opening, with the artist combining mind-melting dubstep sound design with minimal percussion, providing the perfect contrast for bass lovers. The second rendition of ‘Feel It All’ from Oolacile is a quintessential future riddim treatment from the Halcyon label-head, which does not come as much of a surprise as he’s a key player in spearheading this new subgenre movement. The remix is fun and lively, but still riddled with bass stabs that keep the heaviness of the original alive. Last but not least, Akeos and Syzy deliver the meatiest flip of ‘Feel It All,’ doing what they do best with a relentless pounding of bass menacing your ear drums for the track’s duration. It’s chaotic yet controlled, and really just a testament to both Akeos and Syzy’s undeniable prowess.

It’s hard to pick a favourite due to the versatility of all three remixes, so check them all out below!

MUST DIE!‘s reign over the dubstep scene over the last few years is unquestionable. Consistently bringing forward a sound that is unique and creative, the artist has carved his own path in a genre saturated with repetition and presets, especially since the beginning of 2019. In the past, the talented artist has also shown brief glimpses of ingenuity across different genres, with tracks such as ‘The Weapon’ from his Forever Digital EP and the legendary ‘VIPs’ alongside Skrillex proving that MUSTE DIE! is far from a one trick pony. Today, the Seattle-based producer showcases this versatility once more with ‘DON’T EVEN BOTHER’ featuring The Pom-Poms, out now on Never Say Die.

MUST DIE! states that the track “took a year from conception to release and I’m so immensely proud of it, the Pom-Poms rly fuckin understand me and everything I stand for so this collab was a DREAAAAAM truly.” Exploring the realm of house with the added contribution from The Pom-Poms, ‘DON’T EVEN BOTHER’ sees both MUST DIE! and the duo in an unfamiliar light, yet the unlikely teaming works perfectly. Leaving all expectations for a dubstep anthem at the door, listeners are sure to love the piece from start to finish, first getting hooked by the catchy yet slightly sinister chorus before MUST DIE!’s typical pristine sound design and his ability to make you dance with his progressions take center stage in the bass house-leaning drops. Don’t miss ‘DON’T EVEN BOTHER’ below.

A constant source of innovation, creativity and ingenuity, MUST DIE! has been a legend in the bass scene for years. His against-the-grain, refuse-to-conform approach to production has catapulted him to the top since his early days, and he has since proven that the sky is the limit when it comes to pioneering. Today, MUST DIE! returns to Never Say Die with his first release of the calendar year titled ‘NERVE DAMAGE,’ and it is sure to induce paralysis after a single listen.

MUST DIE! started 2019 with “I only ever wanted you to suffer” in ‘BLISS 2K,’ and kicks off his 2020 releases with “have you ever wondered if you were dead” from the same antagonistic female voice, a true indication of the mayhem that follows. The energy in the introduction matches the style that MUST DIE! perfected over the course of the last year, creating intrigue with every passing bar. As the minute mark hits, chaos in the form of tormenting basses and granular synths quickly takes over, demonstrating MUST DIE!’s ceaseless growth as an artist. Yes, the sound design and raw intensity of the drops are brutal and unparalleled, but it’s their combination with the melodies and surrounding effects that give the track a harmonious sense of cohesion. Flowing perfectly from start to finish, ‘NERVE DAMAGE’ is proof that originality in dubstep is not lost and that MUST DIE! is a leader in the field. Don’t miss it below.
