Landing on the heavier side of the production scale, ‘Poor Connection’ is a massive genre-defying banger that settles down on the line between hybrid trap and dubstep. Using the old AOL start up error signal as a looped sample creates a nostalgic attitude, while simultaneously lulling you into a sense of security before you’re obliterated by futuristic bass lines. Don’t be fooled though, the only thing that will have poor connection is your consciousness to your body as you’re fiercely taken hold by the vibrations. Left and right panning is used much to your ears’ delight, creating a full-on listening experience in your headphones. The sound design is superb, with many different samples used within to keep you on your toes. The final drop is even trappier, creating this gritty, slowed beat that you can’t help getting low to. Now it might seem odd to some that the festival is on tour, but this is an older model of doing the deed. Back in the 90’s before Lollapolooza was based in Chicago, they were on tour and would have a string of performances in one day, in one city only, before moving on to the next. This gives the feel that each event is its own mini-modern day festival.

The major act in this sideshow is Borgore, who appears to be coming in hot for most dates on the tour. Also booked to throw down some rumbles are Slander, NGHTMRE, Ookay, ZOMBOY, Snailz, DirtyPhonics, Trampa, Terravita – just to name a few. See if these goons are coming to a city near you and who else will be joining them at the Safe In Sound Festival website.
