After only one listen, you’ll soon come to understand the track’s title, as it could certainly be the theme song for the movies of the same name. Chopped vocal samples and an upbeat energy lead off the track, giving you a sense of misdirection with where the track is headed. A quick build-up leads to a gnarly metallic stab that flips the flow of the track into a trap-leaning drop highlighted by crisp sound design and an untameable dynamism. “The track originally came to fruition after chopping up some random drum loops I had in my library,” PERP says about how he initiated ‘Purge.’ “I really wanted the drop and low-end to be the main focus of this track while making good use of negative space and percussion to add even more call and response to the groove. I used a lot of ambience, FX and more percussion in the intro/breaks to pave the way for the fast paced impactful groove that is ‘Purge’ when it all drops.”
