Over two years after the first installment and just weeks after earth-shattering remixes from the likes of EPROM and Tsuruda, Project Paradis has returned with a hint of the madness to come. Slated to be unleashed on Mad Decent on March 27th, each of the 6 tracks across the EP are set to incarnate the untamable styles of both Promnite and Mr. Carmack. The project transcends traditional releases through multiple visual accompaniments (courtesy of SHINOSM) such as the mind-bending video for the two teaser tracks released today; ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ (shown below) and ‘Cut 11‘. Exploring psychological bonds between the prisoner and captor, ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ smashes the barriers of physical and digital existence with an astronomical wall of sound.

Stretching texturized, artificial noises across turbulent interpretations of trap, experimental bass, house, grime, and more, Paradis 2 encapsulates the rowdiest ideas from the two madmen into a novel dystopian vision. Among the other disruptive tracks on Paradis 2, the long awaited ‘Bull Run’ is slated to make its massive debut on streaming services. Teased in this Carmack tweet and in countless Reddit threads, the monstrous, elusive track has been wreaking absolute havoc in sets from heavy-hitting DJ for years.

Experience the first two tracks off the project below and pre-order the deluxe two-sided vinyl comprised of both Paradis 1 and Paradis 2 on Mad Decent.

With half a year lapsing since his last release, fans have been eager to hear what he’s been working on. Today he blessed us with a massive release in Going Steady 4, a 16 track SoundCloud drop that showcases his diverse style. The project packs everything from lo-fi hip-hop, to rap, house and more.

The dystopian end of Human independence has come and gone… singularity has manifested itself in the form of All-Robotic corporations, automating all basic processes, harvesting raw material, energy, land, and sea. The Earth has become an uninhabitable rock of magma and metal, resource stockpiles, server skyscrapers, waste, and free current electricity which has thrown Earth into a perpetual global storm. One such All-robotic corporation is Paradis Corp; responsible for building Bio-domes, huge snow-globe like structures on land… they are the only robotic process that deals with the few ultra-wealthy humans left in the world worth saving. Our fight to break the simulation has begun…

‘Run It’ is Paradis Corp’s theme song. An ode to greed and power that starts beautiful and triumphant but quickly becomes ugly and violent. It’s efficiency and domination over everything. There’s a glimmer of hope throughout but it’s quickly devastated by Paradis Corp. ‘YAIMT’ is an exploration of the elements. It’s a trip outside the bio-domes. An electrifying journey as the currents travel through your ear drums, down your spine and back into the earth. ‘PaaRRttYY’ brings us inside the bio-dome. With the world in pure chaos, being consumed and destroyed with each passing moment, there’s only one thing for the human race to do: party of course. The anthem is a distorted dark disco record that only gets better as your drug-soaked brain dives deeper into the rabbit hole. ‘Mob Life’ gives us a taste of the rival robotic uprising. The underbelly of AI. A shadowy group destined to overthrow Paradis Corp and claim control of the globe for their own devious desires. ‘ODO’ is a realization. An eye-opener from everything you’ve just endured. The earth is no longer yours and the bio-domes will not last long. But there’s still hope. A final ship left unscathed that can take you to a new uninhabited but livable planet. As you blast beyond the blue flashes and ravaged steel, a warm hopefulness washes over your soul. Maybe everything just may workout…

Welcome to Paradis.

*Project Paradis is collaborative effort from Mr. Carmack & Promnite. The first paragraph from this article is their description of the world they built for this project. The remaining text is my interpretation of how each song lives within the narrative.

Promnite has come a long way in the past few years. Originally started as a Jersey Club side project for Colta, the popularity eventually overtook his main project. Over the years Promnite has evolved from a SoundCloud producer making jersey flips of familiar tunes, to one of the most innovative producers out, blurring the lines between rap, trap and club music.

Promnite’s debut EP Snake Charmer embodies this to the fullest. Opening with the aggressive ‘Gunsmoke,’ the track sees some of the rawest up-and-coming rappers trading bars (Denzel Curry, Nell, J.K. The Reaper and Twelve’len) over slapping production. ‘Ride Around’ takes you to the Bay with Adam Vida skating over a bouncy bass-heavy banger. Switching up the style comes the Mark Johns assisted ‘Call Me’. Her stunning vocals dance with an upbeat and vibe-rich backdrop that feels like cruising down the California coast in a drop top. Closing things out comes ‘Cruise’n USA,’ a video game inspired knocker that LaDonnis stunts all over.

Snake Charmer is expertly crafted and original, demonstrating why Promnite is one of the best out right now.

The ambient opening and chant-like vocals make you wonder what exactly you’re in store for. As Denzel Curry’s raw flow cuts in the beat blacks out with a fittingly gritty bump. From there it finds a fine balance between blunted soundscapes and pure aggression. It’s rap in it’s rawest and most forward-looking state. Stream below.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, Promnite has been killing it. From originals like ‘FDT’ to remixes of Rome Fortune and Keys N Krates, to his work with Athletixx, Promnite is low-key owning 2016. It seems Prom is looking to keep this going as he drops off Going Steady Vol. 3. The project is self described as, “a series…

It seems Prom is looking to keep this going as he drops off Going Steady Vol. 3. The project is self described as, “a series of beats, ideas, drafts, things that I don’t mind sharing.” It’s 12 tracks deep with a wide breadth of sounds. It’s got hard-hitting bangers, chill tunes and everything in between. Plus it features Penthouse Penthouse, Mr. Carmack, Paper Diamond, Falcons and more. Needless to say this is a must listen. Stream it below and tell your homies.

At the top of the year, Keys N Krates dropped their massive Midnite Mass EP. After 6 months of letting fans soak it in, the trio has decided to give it new life with a full remix EP. The project features some of the hottest producers out. KRNE sparks it off with a strong take on ‘I Know U’. He keeps the future trap sound in place while somehow making it bigger and more moving. Stooki Sound‘s take on ‘Love Again’ is easily one of the standouts of the release. It shows the London duo taking a new direction with a wonky tripped-out feel that’ll have you hypnotized. Autolaser gives it a contrasting flip that takes a brighter, more uplifting approach. The remixes of ‘Nothing But Space’ are equally incredible. Promnite comes through as always but DJ Q is the standout for me. I’d never heard his work before but I am definitely now a fan. Jakwob closes things out taking listeners to the jungle with his reinterpretation of ‘U Already Know’. Just like the original this goes in from start to finish. Smash play and cop all the remixes on iTunes.

In case you were wondering ‘FDT’ does in fact stand for FUCK DONALD TRUMP a message which has been gaining steam and rightfully so. Promnite explained the title selection to Nest HQ saying, “We could have done a song about 420, but I think there’s bigger issues in the world right now politically we can all be thinking about.Turn up, have fun but stay woke.. also FDT.”
