Hailing from Atlanta, PRYZMS continues to be one of the most exciting and promising talents in the trap and bass space. The producer and DJ is hot off a DEF showcase alongside ISOxo, Ninajirachi, & Levity, and has been gaining support from icons like Boombox Cartel, Bro Safari, and Party Favor. Making his return to FUXWITHIT comes the relentless trap anthem ‘OG.’ The track follows his previous label releases ‘Underground Sound’ and ‘BACK2THA.’

Originally the song was named ‘Charged Up’ then I added the vocal samples in. Now how the “OG” and “Hanging with the Killas” vocals came about, is really that I’ve been producing for about 14 years, and the message is meant to be a confidence booster. I’m lowkey, humble, but also I know that I got the sauce. I feel like I can hang/keep up with the best! Not on any arrogant vibes, I just believe in my art and myself 110%.”

‘OG’ is arguably PRYZMS’ best work to date, mixing OG trap influences with forward-thinking bass for an incredible anthem. The hypnotic lead is paired with otherworldly chants for a dark yet divine sound. Gritty rap vocals add an undeniable swagger and addictiveness with a menacing edge. The first drop is an exceptional display of minimal mastery that blends deep bass, a hypnotic lead, carefully placed vocal samples, metallic percussion, drilling sound design, and the perfect amount of space for maximum impact. The back half flips the sound with a more robust offering as the familiar vocals drift over crisp drums and immersive soundscapes with booming low-end rounding things out. Pulling from his Atlanta roots, PRYZMS reminds listeners what top-tier trap music sounds like.

Atlanta-based PRYZMS has been steadily climbing the ranks of the trap and bass scene. The talented producer has been building his arsenal for nearly half a decade and proceeds to get better with every release. Last year he made his debut on our label with the scorching trap anthem ‘BACK2THA’ off our Champions Of The Underground Vol. 1 compilation. Today he returns with his first standalone single on the label, the aptly titled ‘Underground Sound.’

Drawing inspiration from the underground sonically and stylistically, this is a bass-heavy banger that’s primed for renegade raves in abandoned basements, sewers, and underpasses. The slow-burning intro is eerie and unsettling. Icy keys drift over ominous soundscapes for a haunting allure. PRYZMS injects a fervent electricity that pulses throughout. War-ready rap vocals are spliced through while devastating low end destroys any and everything in its path. Militant percussion, murky sound design, and absolutely murderous bounce collide for a sound that’s not to be fucked with. PRYZMS isn’t playing with this, he’s here to take over, and ‘Underground Sound’ is the soundtrack to the revolution.

I think the main thing was just how eerie it sounds, as if you were underground, in the sewers or something. Also sounds like something you would hear being played at an underground show. There’s really no limit to what kind of music I make. – PRYZMS

08.25.22. It’s finally here and that means our debut compilation Champions Of The Underground – Vol. 1 has officially arrived. The project showcases the best the underground has to offer while highlighting FUXWITHIT’s signature sound. Stacked from start to finish, the compilation sees Golden Child, Haan808, L*o*J, dope, and sebjin making their return to our label while showcasing a wide range of fresh talents including KUREI, PRYZMS, Dropwizz, Lenny x SL!DE, Galazy x BAGG, Gurf, Borny, Kazantzakis Hontis and Zodiaque. The large majority of the artists have been mainstays on our site for years and it’s an absolute honor to have every artist on board. True to the curation reputation we’ve built for years, the compilation spans a wide array of hip-hop-influenced electronic music from bass to future beats, DnB, and of course trap. We’ve got hard-hitting bangers, gritty heaters, chill vibes, and beautiful bops.

The project opens with Golden Child & Kazantzakis coming together for ‘Elevated.’ The swing, vocals, and synths pull you in while precise percussion and booming bass set the tone for what’s to come. It’s an addictive tune that you’ll have stuck on repeat. PRYZMS takes the energy to the next level with the heart-racing ‘Back2Tha’. The track practically defines what high-octane trap music sounds like in 2022. ‘Quartz’ slow things down with a spell-binding slapper that’s the pinnacle of less is more. OG trap fans are going to lose it for KUREI‘s latest.

Halifax duo dope come through with the aptly titled ‘Hypnotic’ which fuses entrancing vocals with brutish bass and a mean hip-hop swagger. Next up DROPWIZZ takes listeners to the battlefield with the fierce ‘Gulag,’ a bass-heavy heater inspired by your favourite first-person shooter. Take a break from battle and uncover Lenny and SL!DE‘S ‘Oasis,’ an exotic tribal trap smash. Looking for some bounce? You know BAGG and GALAZY have you covered with ‘Repeat.’ Building off this dynamic but with its own distinct flavour comes ‘Big Pizzo’ from Gurf. The track explores his recent future beat sound with a twist of the Partica “Trap2” swagger.

Providing the perfect shift into the more melodic back half of the compilation Haan808‘s ‘Main Phase’ brings the feels with laidback energy that still bumps. Norway’s Borny blesses us with a heavenly future beat banger that’s fittingly titled ‘Skywalker.’ The shimmering synths and uplifting bounce will have you moonwalking in the clouds. The project’s biggest surprise comes from none other than L*o*J. The duo has become renowned for their experimental and heavy approach to bass music. ‘Sunken’ is their softest and most stunning work to date. A beautiful bop that feels like summer love.

As the project nears its close we drift into more cinematic territory. sebjin‘s ‘Rights’ leverages his signature sound providing an immersive futuristic soundscape that’s yours to explore. Hontis & Zodiaque deliver a finale that is nothing short of epic. The slow-burning ‘Extinguish’ opens like a movie score, rich with emotion that deepens with each passing bar. With over two minutes of carefully crafted tension building, the release in the drop is monumental. The track packs a near-spiritual experience while maintaining a sense of ferocity.

Champions Of The Underground – Vol. 1 proves the underground is and always will be the most exciting space in music and art. The future is here. Stream Champions Of The Underground – Vol. 1 and be sure to grab the free download.

Busta’s off-kilter style serves as the perfect backbone for ‘PARTY WITH ME.’ The vocals drive the track while the producer intricately weaves a completely new sound around them. The intro keeps it stripped down before dropping into a cavernous and menacing drop. It’s dark, futuristic, and chest-pounding, while still maintaining an anthemic and familiar energy. From the vocal processing to the stripped-back breaks, everything is perfectly crafted to make this one exceptional. ‘PARTY WITH ME’ reminds us of Busta Rhymes’ greatness while proving that PRYZMS is next up.

Atlanta’s own PRYZMS has been bubbling in the underground for the past few years. His sound mixes trap, bass, rap, and even future bass for a distinctly original and easy-to-love direction. First popping up on our radar with ‘Sovereign’ in 2019 and following it up with a collaborative EP alongside Binks the following year, we’ve been fans for a minute. Since then he’s been dropping a number of hard-hitting flips all the while stacking up originals. Today we have the pleasure of giving fans a sample of those originals with a guest mix that’s jam-packed with unreleased gems from the producer. The mix showcases his immense talent as well what’s to come.

In addition to the mix we connected with PRYZMS for inclusive interview to discuss what makes Atlanta so special, his father’s influence on his music, why you should always bring a USB with you, and much more. Catch the mix and interview below.

Tell us about the mix. What should we expect when we press play?

This mix is a lot of the new stuff I’ve been stacking up in the vault. Expect to hear the full spectrum of “PRYZMS.” It’s a wide range of music but it’s cohesive. I want to show the world what I’m capable of. You will also hear music from some of my very talented friends.

Atlanta is a hotbed for music, from rap to electronic trap and more. What do you think makes the city so special and unique?

It’s hard to find a native “ATLien” anymore, at least for me, but I think that’s what makes Atlanta unique. Especially on the electronic side. It is just a big melting pot of people from different places, backgrounds, and cultures so you get a lot of different perspectives on music. And whatever genre you like, you’ll find that here.

I read that your father was an artist in his own right, working with legends like Lionel Richie and Organized Noize. What impact did his musical career have on you?

I was exposed to so much music at an early age. We’d listen to full albums from artists like Frou Frou, N.E.R.D. , and Jay-Z, literally front to back. Even today, we share music and ideas with each other. It was his love for music that sparked the interest in me from a young age. Shoutout my Mom too, her music tastes helped my eclectic taste for music as well.

The flips are just for fun and mainly to keep things fresh while I finish up these originals. As for originals, there are way too many to count.

You’ve been dropping a lot of flips over the last few months. Can we expect some new originals in the near future?

Yes! The flips are just for fun and mainly to keep things fresh while I finish up these originals. As for originals, there are way too many to count. I’ve got a few collabs with some super talented people and I actually just wrapped up my first EP, dropping very soon!

You recently said that you’re making your best music yet. What has allowed you to level up as of late?

I would say a change in my daily routine. Also just being me. I’ve been focusing on myself a lot more and my well-being. Putting myself in positive environments, hanging out with friends, and more like-minded people. I workout almost every day, so I think it’s helped me with a better work ethic and to put 110% in everything I do. I’m always trying to improve and do better than the last time, whether it’s with music or in life.

What’s it been like working at Skrong? What’s kept you with the team over the years?

There’s nothing but love and support from the team. We’re a family. We motivate each other, we push each other to be the best, and we inspire each other. The dynamic between all of us just flows!

Always remember why you’re doing it & why you started, remember to have fun, and never force anything.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received recently?

Always remember why you’re doing it & why you started, remember to have fun, and never force anything.

Outside of your artist releases you’ve also produced tracks for YFN Kay & OJ Da Juiceman. Do you have any other exciting rap placements in the works?

Not yet, but there are a few rappers and singers I would love to work with in the future!

Do you approach producing for rappers differently than working on your own tracks?

My approach is different. When working on beats for rappers, I always start with drums and get the groove right. The melody comes last for me. There’s a lot less focus on complex leads and nuances, as that usually comes with the rapping part. It gives the artist room and space to be the focal point of the song. When it’s my own track, I always start with melodies first and go crazy on the intro to set the vibe of the song. Little nuances throughout keep things fresh and engaging since there aren’t really any vocals in my tracks.

You had a chance to play at DEF’s abandoned Boiler space. From what I’ve seen online, their events look to be one-of-a-kind. What was the experience like? Any particular moments that stand out from that night?

Every DEF event is like a massive family gathering. They are very amazing, hard-working people and it shows. That night was an amazing experience all around! I think what stood out the most is that there were no crazy visuals, just music, and the energy people brought. It was intimate and felt like I connected with the people around. You can really see people’s reactions and their expressions right in front of you. It’s crazy.

So I’m chopping it up with Sumthin Sumthin after he plays and he asks if I happen to have a USB, then invites me to do a short b2b2b for the last 20 minutes with him and Nik P.

You recently tweeted “always bring a USB bc you never know what might happen.” What’s the best example of this paying off for you?

I’ve always brought USBs with me for after-parties with friends and sometimes even just to give out some IDs. This tweet was actually about a DEF show with Sumthin Sumthin & Nik P, that happened recently. So I’m chopping it up with Sumthin Sumthin after he plays and he asks if I happen to have a USB, then invites me to do a short b2b2b for the last 20 minutes with him and Nik P. So yeah, that was dope!

Who’s on your Mount Rushmore for Atlanta artists and why?

Outkast, Goodie Mob, and Future are on mine because I grew up on them. They were bucking the trends of what was current, at that time, especially on the radio. It showed you didn’t have to follow trends, and more importantly, showed that originality goes a long way.

As for Future….Future is just Future.

What do you want most out of 2022?

If there is one thing I would like to achieve in 2022, is to be able to play shows nationwide and to share my art and vision with more people. I want to focus on myself to ensure that I am in a good space mentally and physically, so I can continue to do what I love and create the best music I possibly can.

Here at FUXWITHIT, we live and breathe for those no-nonsense trap records. One quick look around the scene and you’ll realize that these tracks are becoming few and far between nowadays. So many producers have swayed away from the sample/drum centric culture that built the foundation for the electronic trap genre, but there are some left that prefer to stick with their hip-hop roots and it shows. Binks and Pryzms have become regulars on SKRONG, one of the few labels that still pushes that FUX favorite trap sound and one that is run by an OG Trap legend himself, Mayhem. This time the two return to SKRONG with their Regenesis EP, a testament to everything that makes trap great.

Before the full release, we were blessed with the two lead singles from the project ‘Limitless’ and ‘Trip’. Both giving us a sense of what is to come, with 808-heavy beats and melodic grooves. Moving on we have ‘Aura’ which begins with a melody being played by these sliding 808’s, which is then soon joined by an assortment of horns playing counter-melodies. Finally, we have ‘Whip it’, which leans more towards the festival trap side, with these gritty industrial synths in the drop accompanied by these pounding 808s. Check out the full project down below!

BINKS and Pryzms are no strangers to working together.
‘Limitless’ is a track that will bring you back to the glory days of trap music without escaping the evolution that the genre has seen over the last few years. Combining elements of hip-hop and electronic music with ease, BINKS and Pryzms hypnotize you from the get-go with a pulsating bass that gradually builds with the addition of punchy percussion. As the drop hits, the true insanity of the track is unleashed as a metallic roar of synths and a pounding bassline drive the track forward. A short bridge to the ninety-second mark of ‘Limitless’ brings listeners to the highlight of the song, as the energy and intensity is lifted to new heights and does not let up until the track comes to a close.

As the year comes to a close, it’s more than clear that the trap renaissance is on the horizon. Binks and Pryzms are two of the trendsetting producers who are leading the charge. Residing on opposite coasts, the two young trap lords have been blazing their path. Pryzms, an Atlanta Native, is a versatile artist who isn’t afraid to venture outside dance music with production work for OJ Da Juiceman. On the other side, we have LA native Binks whose innovative production recently landed him an official remix for ATLiens’s ‘Shelter’ with the legend Bro Safari. The two merge their talents on their new track ‘Trip’.

Starting with an ominous loop of skillfully designed ambient melodies, the track immediately gives you that classic trap feel. Thirty seconds in, the speaker-rattling 808s take center stage as they encompass the low ends with a pleasing counter-melody. This theme continues throughout the remainder of the track until an additional spazzy flute melody enters the mix. By combining the essential elements of hip-hop and bass music, these two have created a new-wave trap banger. Check this one out below!
