In other words, he is a newly discovered artist that I hope to hear more of. ‘Team Rocket’ is another of his gems, and we are lucky enough to have its magic enhanced with the help of TOKiMONSTA. Jennifer Lee, also known as TOKiMONSTA, is an American producer from Los Angeles, California. Her popularity to the SoundCloud community can be seen with her 220,000 fans (followers). Her productions are one of a kind, so don’t miss out and peep her newest mix below. Lil Uzi’s ‘Team Rocket’ takes on an electronic chant that does not disappoint.

Laval, QC native High Klassified makes trap beats.

Within that he has fostered a sound that is uniquely his own- an accomplishment for any producer, let alone one that contributes to a style that adheres so closely to fairly strict genre rules. In addition to the skittering snares and fat 808 kicks one would expect, HK blends in deep atmospheric sounds, warm textures, and interesting melodies played out in creative ways (for example – creating melodic lines with hi-hat rhythms by pitching them up and down). His first EP Palindroma, released in 2014, was reviewed by Vice and said to “…sound like anime looks.” – an observation so on point, I am mad at myself for not having thought of it first. Described by some as ‘cloud trap’, HK’s style has a chill, laid back vibe. Softly-swelling synth lines washed heavily in atmospheric reverb drone on while hard hitting rhythms push forward like a trap-style beat should.

Currently signed to fellow Montreal-native A-Trak’s Fools Gold Records, HK continues to produce for various MCs and has also contributed to Low Pros, an all-star collaboration project led by A-Track and Lex Luger. Just having released his second EP Kronostasis, High Klassified is ascending the ranks of producer-stardom and is certainly a part of the conversation when speaking about other successful Montreal-based producers such as Tommy Kruise, Lunice and Kaytranada.

As 2014 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on a stellar musical year. To do so, we’ve rounded up the top 50 songs of the year. In developing this list we weighed each track against the following criteria: overall song quality, impact and popularity, and support (blogs, charts, DJs, etc.). We have been counting down 10 tracks per day and today we bring you the final ten.

10. Schoolboy Q – The Purge / Rapfix Cypher (20syl Remix)

This song represents why we live in the best time ever for music. LA based rapper Schoolboy Q comes through MTV’s Rapfix to drop an accapella freestyle. French producer 20syl takes that freestyle and builds one of the illest hip hop songs of the year. A soulful sample combined with vocals chops and tweaks come together so perfectly you’d think Q laid down the verse in the stu. Paying homage to the verses origins, the track even includes samples from Rapfix host Sway, “Schoolboy Q, man I ain’t gone never tell you not to rap again!” It’s pretty amazing that one of the best rap songs of the year wasn’t even an official release. To add to the fact, this came out in February and still gets daily hits on our site.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/136536788″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

9. ILovemakonenn ft Drake – Tuesday

In 2014, Drake’s Midas touch was in full effect. After adding a verse to the relatively unknown Atlanta artist’s track (originally titled ‘Going Up on a Tuesday’) ILoveMakonnen quickly became a well known name in the game. Overnight, ‘Tuesday’ became a hit in the clubs and on the radio. On September 1st Makonnen tweeted this to announce that he had been signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label. This track undoubtedly made the 25-year-olds career but also changed the way we perceive Tuesday, forever.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/162777996″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

8. Party Favor – Bap U

This was one of the most highly anticipated party anthems of the year. After premiering the track at EDC, Party Favor kept it under wraps (unreleased) for the entire summer. Getting play from every big DJ out there (Diplo, DJ Snake, TWRK, Flosstradamus), he had fans salivating for its release. Finally in September, he dropped the track as a free download. In a year where high energy twerk anthems are a dime dozen this one stands above them all.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/168302619″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

7. Blasterjaxx – Mystica (LOUDPVCK Remix)

Festival trap/twerk might be the most over saturated genre of 2014. But early in the year, when trap lords LOUDPVCK decided to put a festival ready spin on Jackal’s ‘Mystica,’ this wasn’t the case. The opening build is progressive and grand, setting the stage for a massive brain rattling drop. It’s the type of tune that gets dropped in a DJ’s set and you don’t even turn up for first 2 minutes; you just stand there in awe. This track got played on every main stage for the first half of the year and what makes it even more dope is that the track is distinctly LOUDPVCK. With gun clicks, “brrrrrrrrat!” and “Loudpvck” samples this track perfectly balances what the sound of the future would be with the duo’s og style.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/131198625″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

6. Gents and Jawns x Mayhem and Antiserum – Where You Been

Coming off the turn up anthem of the year, the aptly titled ‘Turn Up’, Gents and Jawns had expectations high coming into 2014. Hooking up with bass music vets Mayhem and Antiserum they proved that four heads are better than two and together they delivered the most epic trap heater of the year. The massive orchestral build creates an intensity that is enthralling. It’s almost two minutes of build-up before we are met with a 2 Chainz sample “I been gettin’ money where the fuck you been” and ear drums are obliterated. Epic is a term that’s become devalued from overuse but this track is truly epic.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/138879563″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

5. Baauer – One Touch

Long after the explosion of ‘Harlem Shake,’ Baauer returns to the scene with ß, an explosive EP containing one of the catchiest jams of the year, ‘One Touch,’ featuring Rae Sremmurd and Alunageorge. Smooth pop vocals contrast sharply with the barely pubescent highs and lows of Rae Sremmurd, creating a juxtaposition of styles that is irresistible. ‘I will make you a sunset view,’ sings Aluna Francis in the hook, seductively, entrancing the listener with her sultry voice. Continuing the seduction in the verse, Rae Sremmurd come up with a Dragon Ball Z reference and threaten to “beat the pussy up and leave the girl on crutches.” Totally opposite ideas of seduction, but it’s this back and forth between the serious and comedic / the beautiful and the grimey, that makes Baauer’s professional production really stand out and makes ‘One Touch’ a jam with replay value.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/174066725″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

4. Grandtheft x Keys N’ Krates – Keep It 100

Keep it 100, easily one of the biggest anthem tracks from 2014, is number 5 on our top 50 list and its presence is undeniable. Grandtheft and the trio that makes up Keys N’ Krates all hail from our hometown, Toronto. The track starts off with some heavy horns and while they set the melody that continues through every build sequence the vocals come in. You might be too busy turning up to this to actually catch every word in the bars aside from “keep it 100” but the lyrics really set the tone for the rest of the day that will make you feel some type of way. And that type is that you really don’t give a fuck. Together, Grandtheft and Keys N’ Krates drop one of the best party anthems of the year. The switch up at the drop on first listen is stupid dope and it never loses its value after multiple plays. Keep it 100 comes in at number 5 and that’s real.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/151737120″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

3. Logic – Gang Related

From the outset you’re drawn in as stretched vocals samples conjure images of a ghost trapped in the beat. Layering the percussion with iconic KRS-One samples gives a feeling of stray bullets riddling the scene. The canvas is set for Logic to prove why he is one of the best in the game. Rapping from two perspectives the lyricist paints vivid pictures and sprinkles sharp wordplay throughout. “Selling crack to my own pops, pushing this weight on my own block, if I sell a brick I can buy a house, if they find the key they might lock me up.” What makes this even more impressive is the Maryland emcee’s incredible flow. Not only does he ride the beat perfectly, but the way he delivers the bars actually enhances the vibe with the final bars unloading as if they were dispersed from a semi-automatic weapon. Forget about 2014, you’d be hard pressed to find a track that is this cinematic and flat out impressive in the past 5 years.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/173098071″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

2. ZHU – Faded

For those who are not familiar with the legend of ZHU, here’s a quick primer. With a clear vision in early 2014, the LA based producer/singer removed all of his previous work from the web in an effort to wipe out his prior existence. From there, he managed to get his ‘Moves Like Ms. Jackson’ cover and original ‘Superfriends’ to be picked up by some of the biggest blogs online, all without anyone even knowing his name. The sheer quality of the music, unique Weeknd meets Disclosure sound and elements of mystery set the internet on fire. It didn’t take long before the anonymity was forgone but by then the legend was born and everyone was buzzing about ZHU. As ZHU’s identity became widely known he released a teaser for ‘Faded’ the song that would go on to absolutely dominate the year. The quality of this song is undeniable. The sultry vocals and deep house basslines compliment one and other perfectly. It’s the type of song that sounds great even the hundred and first time you’ve listened to it. Add to the fact that it received an absurd amount of support via remixes, from the official EP with big names like ODESZA, Lido and AMTRAC to the multitude of unofficial remixes. This was the most reworked song of 2014 hands down. As a result it was nearly impossible to not hear some version of this in your favourite DJ’s set, and it was just as hard to resist singing along and enjoying every minute of it.

1. Drake – 0 to 100

“This is nothin’ for the radio, but they’ll still play it though, cause it’s that new Drizzy Drake, that’s just the way it go.” The lyrics from ‘Tuscan Leather’ perfectly describe the 2014 anthem ‘0 to 100’. Quite possibly Drake’s most “street” song to date, the track features no hook and more expletives than your average Chief Keef album cut. With a gritty RZA-esq beat this is about as unfriendly to radio as a Drake song can be. Despite all those facts this was easily the biggest song of the year. For a quarter of the year it was impossible to turn on the radio and not hear this almost immediately. With remixes from Grandtheft, Codes and a handful of other producers this found its way into every DJ set regardless of the genre, from trap to deep house and everything in between. The production is on point and Drake goes in dropping a ton of quotables while stuntin’ at levels typically reserved for king Hov.“Fuck all that rap-to-pay-your-bill shit, I’m on some Raptors-pay-my-bills shit” & “Yeah, I mean you already wrote for us, Damn, nigga, what’s one more quote for us?” It may not be the deepest subject matter but that’s not what this track is about. Though ‘0 to 100’ got all the play it’s unfair not to mention ‘The Catch Up’ the second half of the initial release. As the hard hitting vibe gives way to a more laidback sound, Drizzy’s delivery and air change completely as the rapper becomes more reflective looking at his career. Getting at haters, outlining his grand visions and essentially dropping the OVO schedule for 2015, listeners bumped this with strong attention. Even the closing of this song is phenomenal as the track rides out to a looped James Blake sample, amplifying the feel. Drake proved his dominance in 2014 turning a SoundCloud freebie into the biggest anthem of 2014.

We’ve been counting down 10 songs per day and today we’re breaking down tracks 20-11. Don’t forget to sound off in the comments below and look out for the top 10 tomorrow!

20. Flosstradamus – TTU (feat. Waka Flocka Flame)

If you don’t know Flosstradamus, you are truly missing out on some serious head bangers. Not only did this track become one of the biggest anthems for 2014, it also made it to Hollywood and was featured in the sequel to the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill cop dramedy 22 Jump Street. ‘TTU’ features Waka Flocka Flame screaming “turn up” over big drums and loud horns. For about two minutes the track carries the same tempo and then it literally turns up. The joint is an ultimate crowd pleaser and since its release it has appeared at festivals everywhere.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/152831640″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

19. PARTYNEXTDOOR – Recognize (feat. Drake)

You might be asking yourself “damn, these dudes put another OVO artist on this list?” And to answer your question, I speak for all of us when I say “how could we not?” The first signee under the OVO Sound label dropped his second effort this year and the lead single from the joint dominated radio and DJ set lists. ‘Recognize’, also produced by PND, had all the elements of a hit. The beat featured all the drums and hi-hats to please trap heads and the hook and guest verse from Drake featured all the r&b and rap-esque vibes. Coming off his ‘Over Here’ single from last year with Drake, Party had to prove that he was here to stick around and he delivered.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/158721013″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

18. A$AP Mob – Hella Hoes (Thugli Remix)

First and foremost, A&AP Mob is already well known for their trap-like beats and provocative bars. The current kings of ignorant rap tunes get their track remixed by one of the fastest rising producer duos. Thugli have been busy dropping gems and touring across the continent and this ‘Hella Hoes’ remix is the best way to understand their quick rise. Staying true to the original tune, Thugli (Pat Drastik and Tom Wrecks) manage to keep the best vocals of the original and add a ton of harder drums and slapping snares to the beat. The melodious synth is sure to keep you jumping and yelling “I got hella hoes!”

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/162826050″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

17. Branchez – Truth

Branchez burst onto the scene in 2013 with an amazing bootleg of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’. Since then, he has improved with each release. His crowning achievement to date is ‘Truth’. The track effortlessly combines garage bass lines with Jersey club breaks. The simple and gorgeous vocals make it impossible to resist. A testament to the song’s quality, it gained support from some of the hottest DJs out including Skrillex, Zeds Dead, Benzi, RL Grime and many more.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/153549847″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

16. RL Grime – Core

Number 16 on our top 50 list comes from LA based producer RL Grime. Close to the end of the summer, RL Grime prepped the internet for his ‘Void’ LP with his first offering from the upcoming album. ‘Core’ is the quintessential track for any dystopian future flicks for the next two years. The track is extremely well produced and fits so well within the concept of Grime’s Void LP that it’s very hard to ignore. The beat features epic builds and even more epic drops. The loud, alarm-like synth and drums make you feel like you’re fighting a war of epic proportions, while the braggadocious vocal that repeatedly boasts “who do that shit that I do” makes you want to finish your last set when you’re in the gym. This hard hitting track is an undeniable example of RL Grime’s talent.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/158827653″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

15. DJ Sliink x Trippy Turtle x Hoodboi – Sucka Remix

This was a huge catalyst in the explosion of Jersey club in early 2014. With three of the hottest club producers connecting, the track brought Jersey’s sound worldwide. This enabled it to be picked up by a wide variety of DJs and even though it came out at the top of year, it got played hard until the end of summer. There were hundreds of Jersey club remixes of R&B songs but this one really stood out. There’s been debates about the authenticity of artists outside of Jersey adopting the sound, but having one of the biggest New Jersey artists, DJ Sliink, working with Hoodboi (LA) and Trippy Turtle (Norway) helped to demonstrate that good music is all that really matters. Love may be for sucka’s, but this remix most certainly is not.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/129678404″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

14. Ginuwine – Pony (eSenTRIK Remix)

Remixing one of the sexiest club anthems in human history is no easy task. Sure, if you do it right it can be huge, but the expectations are immensely high. Not to worry, eSenTRIK was more than up to the task, seamlessly infusing elements of trap and Jersey club. The energy is far more intense and dare I say the addition of hard kicks and bed squeaks make this even sexier. Gonna get nasty!

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/135159502″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

13. Jack Ü – Take Ü There

Ever wonder what would happen if two of the biggest and most inventive producers in electronic music were to create a super group and then add the hottest vocalist of 2014 to their track? ‘Take Ü There’ is just that. Keisza’s vocals are addictive and enticing and the beat is wild. The fact that they cut this track in an Ibiza hotel room only makes it that much more awesome. It’s great to see two of the most popular producers resist selling out and focus on pushing music forward. Hats off to Jack Ü.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/169176142″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

12. Keys N Krates – All The Time

“And I gotta stay high all the time”. The Toronto trio showcase their keen ability to flip a simple and repetitive sample into something amazing. Reworking Tove Lo’s ‘Habits,’ the trio takes the lyrical content and bends the vocals while recreating the beat. The result is deeply emotional and addictive. Despite its January release this got spins through the summer and still sounds as good as the day it dropped.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/129358193″ params=”color=0066cc&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

11. Common – Rewind That

Easily one of the most emotionally gripping rap songs of 2014. ‘Rewind That’ has Common reflecting on the some of the key relationships throughout his career. The first verses are dedicated to the two producers who he started with: Twilight Tone and No I.D. The stories set the tone, but it’s the verses that explore his relationship with his late friend and collaborator J Dilla that make this so impactful. “I stayed away sometimes, in other words I ran, til one day J brought me this TV stand, it was a gift so I couldn’t refuse it, it came from his heart, I regret I didn’t use it, the lupus got worse and, for what it’s worth, I wanted him to have a Grammy before he left this earth…You never gone, you live forever through song, I feel it when I see ’em with them Dilla shirts on, I know you’re still shining, from heaven you watch me, watch me put this Grammy on the stand you got me.” If you didn’t give this track a few spins, be sure to take it in now. Be forewarned: you will definitely be moved.

Don’t forget to sound off in the comments below and look out for the rest of the list this week.

40. Drek Martinez – No LOve LOst

New York’s Drek Martinez may be the best under-the-radar producer right now. Combining moving vocals with unconventional low end drops and atmospheric soundscapes, ‘No LOve LOst’ creates a level of emotion seldom felt in electronic music. You probably didn’t hear this at any festivals or in live sets but it did gain support from one of electronic music’s biggest tastemakers: Djemba Djemba. Like a fine wine (or Jennifer Aniston) this track gets better with time. 7 months after its release it’s still ahead of it’s time.

39. Flying Lotus – Never Catch Me (feat. Kendrick Lamar)

‘Never Catch Me’ is a spastic example of Flying Lotus production style: quick bursts and changes, jazz rhythms, and thick Thundercat bass lines. The only thing moving quicker is Kendrick’s verse, a diarrhea of words that are translated straight from his character’s thoughts. Though slightly unsure of himself in the beginning, his confidence improves as the track moves forward, his voice building in volume and emotion. When his vocals fade into the outro, we’re left knowing for sure that the song title is truth: neither FlyLo nor Kendrick will ever be caught alive.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/166063783″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

38. Future – I Won (Eloq Remix)

This track will transport you to a tropical oasis with the girl of your dreams. You can say what you want about the original but this Eloq remix is stunning. The Danish producer strips out the misogyny and creates a lovely torrent of summer synths. This rework makes Future sound smooth as ever and Kanye’s “I want to dip that ass in gold” seem more endearing than a quote from Shakespeare. This held the summer down.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/149666618″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

37. The Weekend – Often

The Weeknd was on a roll this year after dropping remixes to some of the year’s previous favourites. All this happened before he released his own single ‘Often’. Treating the fans to some new music before hitting the road for his “King of the Fall” tour, ‘Often’ is a sexy tune that received a crazy amount of spins on the radio. A perfect jam for the bedroom, you could hear ‘Often’ almost anywhere. The track also received a bunch of love from other producers who took their time to remix the joint.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/155876731″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

36. Zeds Dead – Lost You

Classic Zeds Dead bass and dubstep sounds link with Twin Shadow’s smooth vocal delivery in this song about someone longing for love. While a lot of productions lack smooth transitions and flow, ‘Lost You’ is a perfect example of computer produced music that moves from part to part so smoothly that it sounds as tight as a band recorded live in studio. There is no wonder why this song gained so much attention from top 40 radio stations and DJs alike.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/150745932″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

35. Hudson Mohawke – Chimes

The lead single from his EP of the same name dropped about 4 months ago but has some of the best production we’ve seen this year. Hudson Mohawke’s Chimes features heavy bass and big horns that scream “epic”. This big sound meshes perfectly with the light melodious chimes. The track got its own remix featuring Pusha T, Future, French Montana and Travis Scott and was also featured in an Apple commercial.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/159827700″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

34. J. Cole – Revenge of the Dreamers

This is J. Cole at his finest. No catchy hook, no grandiose production, just a simple looped beat and Cole spilling his consciousness. The song tackles a wide range of topics and themes. From fighting survivors guilt, to the ongoing issue of police killing the youth, “Cause see a war’s goin’ on outside, I ’bout cried, when that boy that the cops shot died, my mouth wide open from shock sick and tired of hopin’ it’ll stop.” The track drifts between heavy and comedic with Cole also dropping some smirk inducing lines, “Your new chick, that’s my ex-bitch, homie, in fact I’m still logged in her Netflix, homie.” The wide range of emotions put on display are what makes Cole one of the greatest of our time.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/140822175″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

33. Jeezy – Seen It All (feat. Jay Z)

This year, the Snowman dropped his seventh studio album and the title track comes in at number 33. With a soulful sample, smooth drums and a couple dope verses this is easily one of the best track of 2014. If the two dope verses from Jeezy weren’t enough, Jay Z comes in and drops some knowledge on the uninitiated and lets them know that he has truly seen it all. One of the biggest reasons why this track is one of the best from this year is the storytelling that both artists do so well. Hear it all below.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/156872848″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

32. Kid Ink – Sunset (Dugong Jr Remix)

I’ve never listened to Kid Ink before but thanks to Dugong Jr. I’ve rapped this entire track bar for bar more times than I can count. The vivid descriptions of rolling through Hollywood as the sun sets, combined with the impossible to resist melodies and slapping bass made this a certified summer anthem. This track rolls the beauty and warmth of California and Australia together perfectly. Even if you’re cruising through wintery Wisconsin in a beat up whip, this track will make you feel like you’re rollin’ through the hills in a drop-top Bentley. This tune is the summer.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/160598987″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

31. DJ Snake x Dillon Francis – Get Low

“G,g,g,get low when the whistle go!” The long awaited collaboration from Dillon Francis and DJ Snake bared exotic fruit that was ripe for the picking. With support from all of their big name friends this was one the biggest club killers of the year. If you didn’t get low when whistle went, you weren’t really living.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/133060071″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

As 2014 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on a stellar musical year.To do so, we’ve rounded up the top 50 songs of the year. In developing this list we weighed each track against the following criteria: overall song quality, impact and popularity, and support (blogs, charts, DJs, etc.). The list will be broken out over the next 5 days counting down 10 tracks per today. Today we kick things off with 50-41. Let us know your thoughts on our picks and look out for the rest of the list this week.

50. Bobby Shmurda – Hot Nigga

Bobby Shmurda. This 20 year old Brooklynite came out of nowhere and took the internet by storm. Two-stepping his way to our 50th spot, Shmurda dropped undoubtedly one of the biggest one hit wonders of the year. The track dominated radio, clubs and Vine with everyone doing their rendition of the Shmoney dance. Since releasing the track in July, Shmurda has signed to Epic Records and has performed ‘Hot Nigga’ on stage with Meek Mill, Jay Z and even made his TV premiere on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Not only was this track everywhere all at once but it also had one of the biggest catch phrases of the year. It’s almost impossible to say “about a week ago” and not have someone scream out like Bobby does. In August the track received its Reggae remix featuring Junior Ried, Movado and Popcaan and in September Chris Brown, Fabolous, Jadakiss and Busta Rhymes dropped the official rap remix. Regardless of how weak the song might be lyrically, it became a quick viral sensation and got a whole lot of love on radio and in the clubs.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/159230477″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

49. Rae Sremmurd – No Type

With awkward rappers like Makonnen and Dej Loaf on the rise commercially, Rae Sremmurd represent a marriage between that and what most would call normal. Examine the first few bars, for example. Everything seems hunky dory until ‘you ain’t got no life.’ It’s the sort of lyric that makes you laugh a little inside for its unabashed directness, but it’s an example of the lyrical spontaneity we’ve been looking for in rap music for some time. With a ton of DJ support and remixes including a stellar twerk rework from Party Favor, ‘No Type’ ensures that the Brown brothers won’t be just another one hit wonder.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/165018741″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

48. Schoolboy Q – Studio (feat. BJ the Chicago Kid)

ScHoolboy Q has had a pretty stellar 2014 considering his debut album has sold more than 300,000 units and was recently nominated for a Grammy. One of the tracks from Oxymoron stands out and is one of the best records of the year. Q’s ‘Studio’ featuring BJ the Chicago Kid on the hook has the Hoover Street come up rapping about how he plans to get down with his girl if and when he makes it out of the studio. The beat includes hard hitting drums and pitched up bed squeaks as if Trippy Turtle produced it and the vocal sample brings a whole other level of sexy to the track. Receiving a remix later in the year from Nas, ScHoolboy definitely scored himself a hit for the year.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/135948945″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

47. Ryan Hemsworth – Snow in Newark

Last December, Ryan Hemsworth gave us a bunch of awesome remixes and a coded promise: 2014 would be a big year for him. A massive amount of touring, remixes, collaborations, and a record are proof that this is true. But also 2014 marked a big change in his music, and we can see that in ‘Snow in Newark,’ the first single from Alone for the First Time. A somber chord progression plays over a syncopated snare and hat beat as Ryan delves into the realities of being a touring musician. Rather than further the stereotype of being a quirky DJ/producer, Ryan Hemsworth shows a completely different side of himself in song writing. This leaves me only to wonder what 2015 will bring for Hemsworth.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/168898878″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

46. Majid Jordan – A Place Like This

Majid Jordan is name that became very familiar in 2013. Largely responsible for Drake’s mega hit ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ the duo began to step out on their own this year. Their A Place Like This EP is evidence of the immense potential they possess. The title track received a ton of spins and buzz online. The gripping and unforgettable vocals accompany the downtempo beat perfectly. Though technically considered pop, their music packs a realness and sentiment that is unseen in mainstream music.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/157694586″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

45. A$AP Rocky – Multiply

On heavy rotation since its release, A$AP Rocky’s ‘Multiply’ is a certified banger. A lot of the credit goes to the production on this joint. Producer Curtis Heron captures that ignorant rap vibe really well and avoids using trap-like elements in the entire beat. In fact, when the beat switches for a quick 8 bars, there’s almost an absence of trap snares, but the beat still bangs. Flacko does a great job of taking control and introduces some catchy bars like “fuck with a nigga like me, R.I.P. my nigga Pimp C, HBA shit is weak you can keep that, shit I might fuck around and bring the jeep back”. One of the hardest rap tracks of the year, ‘Multiply’ takes the 45th spot.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/170422278″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

44. Tennyson – With You

There is no doubt in my mind that 2015 will be a big year for Tennyson, but it’s still 2014, so get familiar with their iTunes/SoundCloud releases. ‘With You’ combines crisp keys and smooth jazz rhythms that together create a sound that is sophisticated, but not too busy or cluttered. It stands out as the culmination of their musical progress thus far and has helped them garner enough attention to be recruited for Ryan Hemsworth’s Sucker for Punishment tour this fall.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/171082727″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

43. Future – Move that Dope (feat. Pharrell, Casino and Pusha T)

Though I’m not a big fan of Future, this track has made an impact that cannot go unnoticed. Featuring Pharrell (who has had a great year himself) and Pusha T, this song became every hustler’s theme music. Soon after dropping, it became a social media craze especially on Vine and though it wasn’t very radio friendly, it garnered major spins in the clubs. In fact, it won a BET Hip Hop Award for Best Club Banger. With great production provided by Mike WiLL Made-It, Future and his homeboys snag the 43rd spot.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/156340404″ params=”color=166ced&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

42. Vices x Jailo – Loving You (Long Time)

Jailo & Vices came out of nowhere and absolutely killed 2014. There are a handful of tracks from each that could’ve made the list, but it’s their first collaboration that eventually claimed the spot. A perfect blend of future bass and Jersey club, the song represents a sound that has become immensely popular within the year and will continue to expand in 2015. This is beautiful music; plain and simple.

41. Dakat – Stability

Future bass became one of the dominant genres of the year. The sound evolved and blended throughout 2014 and the term can be loosely applied to a wide range of music. That said, Dakat’s ‘Stability’ may be the best example of quality future bass. The exotic chanting, warming melodies and wonky bass combine for a sound that takes listeners on an unforgettable journey. When Dakat put the song out he was completely unknown. Thanks to this and a steady stream of quality music he has grown into a respected artist and earned thousands of fans.

Friday. A glorious day we all look forward to. It means the end of another work or school week and the beginning of the weekend. For some, Friday marks the weekend which is yours to seize at your leisure. For others, it means a late night out on the streets, bar/club hopping and wilding out. And sometimes for that same crowd, Friday night means your hungover at work on Saturday. Whatever your Friday looks like, you need some tunes to get you into your weekend and that’s what this series is all about. #FUXWITHITFRIDAYS is a weekly series where we’ll pick some of the tracks we haven’t covered but fux with, all neatly placed into a playlist that you can easily bump. We’re keeping it short to begin with, but if you begin to really fuxwithit then we may add more tracks.

For our first week, we got some certified bangers that will get you through your commute home and to the bar, club or house party at night.
