The Los Angeles bass heavyweights known as Ryan Browne and Xavage are clearly two producers you need to keep on your radar this year. Both having a strong musical background, Ryan Browne draws upon inspirations growing up playing the drums for rock and metal bands, while Xavage’s passion for music began in high-school as a recognized hip-hop dancer. Portraying their true passion for bass music, if there is one collaboration to fire up your playlist in the dirtiest way possible, ‘Head Pop’ is undeniably the one to get wonky to. Warning, dubstep enthusiasts may experience a mind explosion towards the end.

“It was really fun to dip back into some of the sound design from my tracks like ‘Caligula’ and ‘The Reaper.’ Working with my homie XAVAGE was really cool. Our styles and tastes are normally so different, so we ended up sharing a lot of workflow tricks and musical approaches. Writing ‘Head Pop’ was dope because it pushed us beyond our comfort zones and we got to try new things” – Ryan Browne

With mechanical instrumentals beginning to open your mind to the producers’ worlds of pure sound precision, the tension continues to rise as distorted vocals rapidly become noticeable. About to make your “head pop,” a infectious snare becomes even grimier as the track progresses. Changing up the flow on listeners, a state of experimental sounds tied with snippets of raw destructive synths bring listeners into a state of “WTF.” Browne and Xavage come out of nowhere with a massive dubstep inspired drop to end off the track in the hardest way possible before calming their listeners with the sound of a pop being poured out. As the element of surprise is clearly in these producers favor, we can only hope for more hard-hitting collaborations blessing us soon.
