Black Carl! and Saka‘s monumental rise in the bass scene over the last year has been incredible to follow. From SoundCloud artists to festival and touring circuit mainstays, the pair of artists have cemented themselves as serious players in the game, racking up one accolade after the other. As their 30+ date, US-wide Rush Hour tour comes to a close in the next month, Black Carl! and Saka can now cross another item off their bucket list with the release of the Rush Hour EP on Deadbeats. Spanning four musically diverse tracks, the collection demonstrates why the producers continue to find success.

The chemistry between the artists throughout Rush Hour is undeniable. Their friendship exudes into the seamlessness of each track as Black Carl! and Saka explore a few different styles across the project. The opener, ‘Heaven On Earth,’ which features angelic vocals from The Lie Within Callie, is a groovy, house-leaning bop showcasing a new facet to both producers. ‘Rush Hour’ follows with the artists taking a much more familiar approach as they deliver a grungy halftime brute that boasts just the right amount of aggression without being overbearing. The biggest surprise in Rush Hour comes in the form of ‘Brutal’ – an unexpected yet mesmerizing collaboration with Protial. Perhaps it isn’t that unexpected, as the mysterious artist joined Black Carl! and Saka for bits of their Rush Hour tour. Nonetheless, the joining of forces of the three artists is exactly what one would expect, and more. From the quintessential Protial introduction to the flawless combination of sounds from those involed, ‘Brutal’ stands out as a personal favourite from the project. Finally, ‘Red Dragon’ closes out the ensemble of tracks with a more laidback appeal without escaping the bass nature of the project.

Speaking of the journey, Black Carl! said, “When Eric [Saka] and I first met, we joked that we should make a song called ‘Rush Hour.’ Three years later we got to play the biggest tour of our careers, we’re putting out the Rush Hour EP on Deadbeats, and Zeds Dead played our title track at Red Rocks. It’s hard to believe, but we’re so thankful for the support of our fans, friends, and family who got us to this point.” Don’t miss the Rush Hour EP below.

It’s that time of the year again! With summer coming to a close, Sable Valley made sure to end theirs off with a bang. Sable Valley Summer Vol. 3 is the third installment of their series. Highlighting some of the best of the best within the scene while continuing to drive high energy to their audience. And what a stacked lineup they have for us this year! Like each of their compilations, they’ve recruited a few of their alumni while highlighting brand new faces! Artists such as saka, LYNY, Squired and more have all joined the roster in this year’s installment. Creating individual pieces that will easily lift you into the air with pure amounts of heat. Showcasing absolute anthems from each musician while opening a new chapter for the label itself.

Sable Valley Summer Vol. 3 is a burst of static electricity. Running through your body in the form of powerful sound design, unique arrangements, and cinematic visions from each track. Every artist showcased what makes their tones and vision memorable while honoring the Sable Valley name. From a futuristic atom bomb from RL Grime, Hex Cougar, and fknsyd, to a mind-boggling journey from Ivoryghost, the surprises are endless throughout this wild ride. Showcasing another huge success for their team and their artists. Heavy bass designs, angelic melody structures, and violent rhythms are what you’ll find and hear within. So make sure to show your support by streaming Sable Valley Summer Vol. 3 everywhere via Sable Valley!

Festival season is slowly creeping upon us and with the holidays ahead, spending money on passes is probably the last thing on your mind. Maybe you’re going to ask for tickets from your family this month or maybe you decide you want to treat yo’self. Whatever you do, you have to think fast before Okechobee 2022 prices rise at midnight! Once the lineup came out, everyone was hype as fuck. Names like Tame Impala, Megan Thee Stallion, and Flying Lotus filled the headline slots, and that alone should convince you to go. But we have to be true to ourselves and talk about all the other acts you might not know about yet. So without further ado, here are 10 undercard acts you need to listen to before you head to Okee.

1. DJ Minx

If you love dance music, you have to see the legendary DJ Minx. Hailed by publications like Mixmag and Festival Insider as one of the most important names in dance music history, this Detroit techno DJ helped pioneer the culture we know and love today. She even uplifts other women in music with her record label, Women on Wax.

2. Saka

Hong Kong native Saka has been one of our favorite producers for years, with us heavily covering his music since 2019. The producer’s ability to bring us bass music in such an explorative fashion has proven time and time again why he’s one of the greats of our time.

3. Rome In Silver

You don’t need us to tell you why you should go to the Rome In Silver set. We talk about him way too much. Just do it.

4. A Hundred Drums

World bass producer A Hundred Drums has been absolutely killing it, so if you don’t know her name already, you’ve been sleeping. The Deadbeats signee has been seen at huge festivals like Coachella, Tribal Gathering, and Burming Man, and most recently, she supported Rezz at Red Rocks. Experience it in real life as she showcases her love of reggae, dubstep, and psytrance.

5. DUCKWRTH

We’re not entirely sure why DUCKWRTH’s name is so small, but we’re glad to see it on here nonetheless. The LA-based rapper/singer-songwriter is super versatile, not only in his sound, but also in his reach. His talent landed him collaborations with fashion brands like Paul Smith and Fila, and placements on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and HBO’s Insecure.

6. HoneyLuv

From NCAA basketball player to one of the hottest names in house music, HoneyLuv is someone you should know about. Making a name for herself in under two years, she now has a residency on LP Giobbi’s ‘Femmehouse’ series and pops up from time to time on Desert Hearts and House Nation. This year, she even peformed at EDC Las Vegas.

7. Ross from Friends

One of the most unique names in dance music right now is Ross from Friends, but the producer has been around for years. The London-based beatmaker grabs elements from so many genres, it’s honestly hard to put him into one category, so you’ll just have to go and hear it for yourself.

8. Heidi Lawden

If you want to have a real rave experience, go see Heidi Lawden. The global DJ has been at it for almost a decade, telling fans you can normally find her at “dublab.com in discos, deserts, and darkened warehouses.”

9. Kumarion

Kumarion has been a tour de force in the bass community, praised for being one of the names speerheading the drum n bass boom in the States. However, we can’t deny that it was his Jadu Dala release ‘(Give It To Me Like I) Want It’ that got everyone’s attention, and we even named the track in our top 50 of 2020.

10. Lab Group

Super-trio Lab Group is made up of some of the biggest names in US bass music right now. Made up of heavy-hitters Charlesthefirst, Supertask, and Potions, each producer also has a solo set at the fest, but this is one you won’t want to miss. There wasn’t a live set or mix example I could find, but their self-titled EP did come out back in July.

From boundary-pushing compilations, to projects from veterans and up-and-coming talents alike, there isn’t much that Halcyon does that isn’t worthy of praise. Despite first branding themselves as a platform for future riddim, the Oolacile-run platform has continuously expanded upon their range of styles and influences with the common theme of supporting quality bass music. Staying true to this mentality, Halcyon return today with another forward-thinking compilation titled Cerebrum Vol. I in collaboration with NEO4IC to pair music with fashion unlike anything out right now.

Bringing new and familiar faces to the table, Cerebrum Vol. I showcases artists such as Oolacile, BVSSIC and Vayre, all artists who have released full length projects on the label. New to Halcyon, though, include Inspected-regular Vorso, active electronic music community member Mr. Bill and newcomer lalanoi, among others. Additional contributors include Focus Five features phonon, Trinist and Alydian and FUXWITHIT favourite, Saka. Comprised of nine mind-melting tracks ranging from drum and bass to glitch hop, Cerebrum Vol. I brings a stacked lineup with top-tier tracks from start to finish.

Opening up the compilation in epic fashion, Oolacile, phonon and Mr. Bill join forces to create a tumultuous journey in ‘Exodus,’ as the piece meshes each artist’s style to perfection. BVSSIC and Staysick follow with the brute that is ‘Supervision,’ showcasing a keen attention to detail, core-shattering bass and a pristine balance of highs and lows. Wasting no time, Vorso comes next in a masterclass of sound design in the wicked ‘Honx,’ which may or may not be a follow-up to his recent beast boasting a similar name. Saka keeps the energy alive with a halftime heater that contends for one of his best tunes to date, with ‘Souffle’ flexing an swagger-filled flow and an oddly satisfying groove throughout. ‘Recondite’ follows, as Trinist unleashes a barrage of relentless bass in his 170 BPM neurofunk belter that further builds on his ever-impressive signature sound.

Coming off his Spectramorph EP from earlier this year, Vayre shares a display of colourful melodies and rugged basslines with the next contribution to the well-rounded compilation. Then, Alydian evokes raw emotions with ‘Kurota,’ demonstrating his incredible ability to use contorted vocals, deep basses and rhythmic percussion to induce the deepest chills within your spine. Staysys and lalanoi close out the compilation with ‘Bovel & Buwar’ and ‘luminous flux,’ respectively, with both producers embodying the essence of innovation in their tracks.

It’s difficult to do such an impressive compilation justice with words, so we highly recommend multiple listens from front to back – you won’t regret it. Don’t miss Cerebrum Vol. I below.

From landing on FUXWITHIT almost three years ago with a premiere of a track that is no longer on SoundCloud, to releasing on labels such as Bassrush, Inspected, Gud Vibrations and more, it’s been a wild journey following Saka‘s impressive evolution as an artist. Constantly looking to improve his craft while creating work that that he is genuinely proud of, Saka strives for innovation and his latest work speaks to that. With his Penumbra EP slated for release on June 4th via Dome of Doom, we can definitively state that this boundary-pushing mentality is present throughout his latest ensemble, and we have the extreme pleasure of premiering ‘Prescient’ today to show you this mindset in full.

Interestingly, Saka presents his vocals on record for the first time in ‘Prescient.’ About his experience with singing and including his voice on the track, Saka had the following to say, “I used to sing a lot in high school and even joined an acapella group in college for some time. After that stint I started getting really into electronic music, and for the longest time I thought vocals just sounded so corny and on-the-nose. One of the reasons why I like more niche electronic music is because I feel like the narrative is a little more abstract – it’s about the listener. So for the longest time I just totally avoided ever singing on my music. Anyone who’s been a vocalist or an instrumentalist prior to being a producer can probably empathize – you get nervous about connecting the different realms. However, this record is totally about my own experience and my self-expression. I’m directly trying to just write from the heart on this record.”

So, ‘Prescient’ is a vocal-driven record, with a totally new sound palette compared to Saka’s previous works. Expect the unexpected. Heavily influenced by Burial over the last few months, Saka dives into the formerly unexplored territory of garage in his latest, without escaping some of those key signature sounds that all have come to love from the artist. “This was prompted because I was starting to feel really deeply unhappy with the quality of my music. I just didn’t think it was good enough, and I just felt like my riffs and motifs sucked. I even stopped making music for a while. But slowly, as I continued to listen to more stuff outside of my lane, the inspiration began to come back,” Saka adds.

‘Prescient’ is not bound to be a mainstage favourite, but that won’t prevent it from being an important addition to the catalogue of many fans. It’s all about the context in which you listen, and ‘Prescient’ is sure to evoke emotions that you probably haven’t felt in the past listening to Saka’s music. The piece is riddled with lush textures and serene soundscapes while simultaneously boasting a meticulous attention to sonic details. Oh, and the outro is truly fantastic. Don’t miss it below.

Production master, vide has blessed us all with something special. His brand new EP, rain will expand your mind to the fullest degree. Filled with thick bass lines, leads and impactful drums, he’s taken his production to whole other realm with this. No surprise because he’s been killing it within the underground. Filling your souls with distorted ear candy with each release. Nothing but inspiring to see how far this artist has come. And now he’s back and better than ever. He even recruited heavy hitter, saka in on the vision to make the project even crazier. So if you’re a fan of gritty trap music, you definitely won’t want to miss out on this.

The rain EP is filled with many unique and stylish characteristics. Right from the start of the project, you’re transported into a jungle filled with mysteries and treasures waiting to be discovered. And a strange and enticing ritual waiting to be fulfilled. vide did not play around when creating these gems. Each track is different from the last but still holds his signature flame. From his track, ‘rituals,’ holding distorted bass lines which will make your heads spin, to a song called ‘ruins,’ which is more of a vibe filled pleasure, it’s easy to say he’s taken himself out of his comfort zone, and into a brand new light for which he’s excelling with his production. Every sound and second will leave your mouth open with satisfaction and inner grace. Telling you his efforts paid off truly. It’s a journey for all bass lovers to embark on. Leaving them off with something different and greater from their previous expectations.

Following the successful launch of their new series aimed at highlighting up-and-coming talents across the bass realm, the sophisticated tastemakers at Inspected are back with the second instalment of their Powered By Inspected Series. Featuring five artists making their debut on the label, Powered By Inspected: Series 2 is an underground bass lover’s dream, showcasing why Inspected have remained at the forefront of the scene for so many years.

The ensemble is kicked off in wicked fashion with Netherlands-based Trinist delivering a crisp drum and bass cut that’s equally gritty as it is playful. The four-minute ‘Transmute’ is fast-paced, relentless and abrasive, but in the best way possible, setting the bar high for the tracks that follow. Fellow Dutchmen not yes come next with the brief but smooth halftime bop titled ‘Don’t Do Math,’ where the duo provide a welcome change of pace after the opener. badtwin follow with a neurofunk beast of their own, swaying between brutal, core-shattering bass and lighter, more melodic notes in ‘Airy’ to concoct a well-rounded tune that is quintessential Inspected material. Then, FUXWITHIT favourite Saka showcases one of his most impressive tracks to date in ‘Stasis,’ keeping his signature halftime sound intact and pairing rugged synths with sinister melodies to a tee. Finally, Ankou caps off the impressive compilation with ‘Inertia,’ a looming, robotic brute that fits perfectly into the bass-riddled collection.

Powered By Inspected: Series 2 is yet another reminder of Inspected’s ability to curate boundary-pushing content. Don’t miss the sophomore compilation below.

Saka has come a long way since he first landed on our radar more than two years ago. Following the producer’s journey has been nothing short of incredible and we’ve been watching it from the start – from premiering a couple of tracks that are no longer on his SoundCloud, to hosting a guest mix and interview last year. Now, the talented LA-based artist adds a new, highly-impressive check-mark to his list of accomplishments – his debut EP titled Slipstream, out via the coveted Bassrush tomorrow. Ahead of its full release, we have the exclusive honour of showcasing ‘Exile,’ the third piece of the six-track puzzle.

The Slipstream EP showcases a fresh side to Saka’s creative insights, from the music itself to how the concept of the project was created. Saka tells us, “I story-boarded this whole thing before writing it, a method that I was put onto by Hudson Lee and Frequent. Essentially, I had a few images and a story in mind from the start, and I designed sounds and bass patches around how I envisioned these images sonically.”

Despite being the third track that fans will hear from the project, ‘Exile’ is actually the second piece of Saka’s narrative, which you will eventually be able to read in full on his Twitter. The track itself is everything listeners have grown to love about Saka; eerie soundscapes, rugged bass and otherworldly flow. Hard to categorize into a specific genre due to its innate uniqueness, ‘Exile’ is sure to please a wide array of trap and bass fans, as Saka demonstrates another level to the seemingly limitless tricks up his sleeve.

“I’m excited because this is my best work so far. My music is an amalgamation of all the things I love,” Saka adds about the Slipstream EP. Stay tuned for the full project tomorrow and until then, enjoy ‘Exile’ below.

Following up on their debut The Prophecy compilation from January, the elite taste-makers over at Bassrush are back with the second installment of their bass-laden compilation highlighting the most promising talents in bass music, and honestly, The Prophecy: Volume 2 looks like it was tailored for the FUXWITHIT audience. Featuring ten brazen tracks from talents from across the globe, Bassrush have curated yet another exquisite compilation, going above and beyond expectations.

In the mood for pristine halftime? Dive into Saka’s mesmerizing ‘Slipstream’ or Rejack’s rugged ‘Psychout.’ Need heavy dubstep to carry you to the weekend? Hukae’s got you covered with the eclectic ‘Zonked,’ first teased in his 2020 Showcase, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’d be a nuisance to try to do every track on the compilation justice, as each stands well on its own and contributes well to the ensemble. With Tek Genesis, Super Future, FLY, Floret Loret, Khiva, Noer The Boy, NIK P and Phantom Nexus rounding out The Prophecy: Volume 2, we highly recommend you dive in and let this be the soundtrack to your weekend.

2019 is proving to be a breakout year for LA-based Saka. Through monthly releases that ceaselessly push the boundaries of experimental bass music to new fronts, it’s almost impossible to believe that he only started producing two years ago. A recent mix filled with unreleased gems as well as consistent brain-melting heaters such as ‘WHIPLASH,’ ‘RIFT‘ and ‘VENOM‘ have only further displayed Saka’s true ingenuity, with each new release impressing more than the last.

Staying true to this theme of innovation, Saka makes his debut on SATURATE RECORDS today with a spine-chilling track titled ‘Orion.’ An introduction laced with hip hop-inspired percussion sets a groovy tone for what follows, without being absent of the talented artist’s signature gritty sounds. However, when the drop hits, all sense of familiarity is lost as Saka unleashes powerful synths and rugged bass to leave listeners in awe of his skills. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more hectic, the second half of ‘Orion’ is what dreamers of a Saka and Chee collaboration would envision, as the former ups the energy, intensity and complexity of the sound design to unprecedented levels.

Saka’s production only continues to evolve and ‘Orion’ is proof. Don’t miss it below.
